Head of firm acts like Roman Emperor

Warning: Spoilers
I love these American plots about big business. Here Alana, owner of a cosmetics firm, acts like Cleopatra or Elizabeth I. If she could shout "Off with his head!" she would. She enjoys making everyone's life a misery. She wont release anyone from their contract, waving them around as if they were vows to Satan signed in blood.

The McGuffin is the secret formula to her anti-aging cream. It gets stolen from her safe, of course, and by the end of the saga it hasn't been recovered. However, her real age turns out to be 40, not 62, proving the cream to be an expensive dud.

The big plus, however, is the presence of ageless Tippi Hedren, as the lover of David Warner whom everyone assumes to be gay. He doesn't act particularly gay, apart from being a bit affected and waspish. Is an English accent enough? But why is the car mechanic a (genuine) Cockney?

I'm enjoying catching up with Perry Mason II. Perry and Della act like an old married couple and he refers to her as "the head of the firm".
