I am saddened that the anime is still old. While the animation is really bad, for it's time it can be considered very good. The art style is kind of trash in the anime too, which is the reason i think the manga is a 10/10 while the anime, sure 10/10, but with the animation, I am not so sure.
This piece of fiction has the best character in fiction: Joe Yabuki. This story is about how boxing drives a man as a man, how it changes him and the others around him. It shows the perspective of the writer on society as a whole, even on the first episodes/chapters.
Anyone who is an intellectual of a sort and isn't driven by hype and joy itself should read this manga or watch this anime.
