promising start
21 July 2022
Captain Alan Eaton (Dana Andrews) returns from the Korean War after two years of Chinese imprisonment. He expects to return to his company being run by his business partner Clark Baker. He is shocked to find that Clark is dead and their business has been sold without his knowledge. Their former employee Jim McGinnis (Dick Foran) is now the new owner. Alan suspects foul play and hears rumors of corrupt political malpractice. He takes a job inside the company to investigate for himself.

This starts with a promising premise but it devolves into a lot sitting around and talking. It's boring talk and business meetings. This Red scare is a little bland and any political truth is washed away. It needs something to spice it up. The brain damage or brainwashing angle could have used much more effectively. It's not until the final confrontation against McGinnis that the intensity gets raised. Even there, I dislike Alan willingly walk into the confrontation with no help and no way out. Well, maybe that's the brain damage part.
