Never would I have ever imagined such a horrific attack on the US. Never would I have ever thought that our own jets could be used as missiles against us. Yet here we are almost 21 years later and it's still fresh in the mind's of virtually everybody who was old enough to witness such a attack. When this documentary first aired on TV is slaughtered the ratings in fact it slaughtered everything up to that point in time. However it wasn't planned to capture such a horrific act but a documentary on a proby named Tony Benatatos as he works his way through training and the trials of being a newbie. That was the actual plan for Gedeon and Jules Naudet. Up until a routine call do we witness the beginning of what would change the life's of millions of people and also end the life's of thousands of workers.
I cannot think of a stronger documentary that this one. The ups and downs of a newbie firefighter to the bravery of others. After 21 years it still hurts and reminds us that even in the US we are subject to such tragic events as this. Though the majority of the footage takes place in WTC1 as we watch as plans are set and hear the sounds of people hitting the ground. This DVD pays great honor to those who not only parishes but those who survived.
I cannot recommend this documentary any stronger than I do. Even the documentary of the Boston Marathon bombings doesn't come close to the power and gritty footage of this. I still recall what I was doing at that moment, I was working, a coworker had informed us that a plane flew into a building, I wouldn't know the grand scale of the tragedy till I got home. I again can't recommend this enough to those who may have been too young or weren't born yet. I think as a nation we should honor this day 9/11 as a national holiday for our fellow workers, firefighters and police.
