Warning: Spoilers
You're basically watching everyone figure out things the audience already knows or can easily predict. For me, this hurts the suspense a little bit. It's still entertaining to watch Dexter go into parental protection mode, or watch two detectives predictably stumble upon something in the cave by the end of the episode. That's the main problem for me this season. As entertaining as everything is I feel like I already know what the outcome is going to be episode by episode. For example, of course Harrison is going to hook up with with Audrey, Kurt manipulates him into abusing his anger to snap the boys arm. Without even seeing the next episodes preview Harrison will probably be jumped by the rival high-school and Kurt will manipulate him to hurt them, Dexter and Kurt are going to try and ruin each other, Detectives will start closing in on both Dexter and Kurt, Harrison and Dexter's relationship will continue to strain until the last episode. Everything is spelled out and no risks are taken. I know I'm harping a lot but it's dissappinting seeing little to no risks have been taken. Every scene you can predict what will happen and it hurts New Blood. I'm entertained by New Blood and I want to continue to see what happens next, hoping something breaks my expectations since I do love Dexter. Though, I'm not going to rate every episode a 10 and pretend this is the best Dexter has been or will ever be.
