Review of Freakshow

DC's Legends of Tomorrow: Freakshow (2017)
Season 3, Episode 2
5/10
Entertaining, but also a mess

I love time travel and am obsessed with watching it, so this should be my favorite Arrowverse show. Instead, I'm frustrated each and every episode lately at the Legends. It seems the writers have decided to make them all idiots with single-digit IQs and incapable of making any intelligent decision, especially Nate. Ray Palmer was an absolute delight in Arrow, a brilliant scientist who was making a difference in the world. Becoming a Legend has turned him into a caricature of his former self, a blithering idiot only focused on how he can be a "hero" without any real plan or common sense. Jax had the best line of the entire series so far... "you mean you don't want us to come and mess things up"? This show has so much potential, there is no reason I should be actively rooting for the Time Bureau to fix things the Legends always screw up.

Amaya seems to be the voice of reason so I was happy to see her again. Even Stein had his uncharacteristic judgment lapses throughout the previous season. That reference to Titanic was gold, though. I will continue watching this because of time-travel, but please please please stop dumbing them all down. Except for Rory, that's to be expected and he plays the role brilliantly. Nate is useless and for a character who started out with such promise, he has become the weakest link in an already weak team.
