6/10
A confused but enjoyable teen coming of age tale.

Warning: Spoilers
Papers Towns is a film that showed immense promise just by stating in its trailer that its from the makers of Fault in our Stars a film that was a runaway hit and now a classic. Sadly this film will be neither. Papers Towns is a muddled tale that is confused, between being a romantic tale, or a coming of a age story. Luckily whatever still comes from the this tale is still enjoyable, and is still better than your average film.

The films story is pretty much that of a boy named Quentin who has loved a girl named Margo since his childhood. While they where good friends when they where young, as time passed Margo became a rebel child and Quentin a typical nerd, they drifted apart. Until one afternoon Margo wants to take revenge on her boyfriend for cheating and uses Quentin as her accomplice. After a night of crazy, but memorable events Margo goes missing, and Quentin is head over heels for Margo again. Margo leaves clues for Quentin to where she left, and Quentin needs to find her to express his love. In between all this is Quentin three best friends who are crucial to the plot. These events then form the crux of the plot, the rest is for you to find out.

While from the summary, the film may seem like a love story, the ending says a completely other story. And while the narrative was smooth, the film had no big twists, or huge comedic moments. The clues to where margo is, the party and road trip comedic scenes where all been there done that type of clichéd scenes. But still the proceeding never leave you bored, and you do always have a smile on your face from the proceedings. Even the ending as convoluted as it is, its very uncliched, and its a good message.

Overall this a film the teenage audience will lap,and will love. But for an average man like myself its a enjoyable watch at best.
