New Delhi, Jan 17 (Ians) The Supreme Court on Tuesday said that the legislature should enact a law for terminally ill patients who decide to stop medical treatment.
A five-judge constitution bench headed by Justice K.M. Joseph agreed to modify its 2018 guidelines on “living will”, an advance medical directive on end of life treatment. The bench, also comprising Justices Ajay Rastogi, Aniruddha Bose, Hrishikesh Roy, and C. T. Ravikumar, said only guidelines can be tweaked otherwise it will become a review of its 2018 judgment.
“We are only here to consider improving the guidelines. We should realise the limitations of the court also,” it said.
The top court further added that the legislature has more skills and sources of knowledge and the court is not an expert in medicine, therefore it has to be careful.
It was considering a plea seeking modification of the guidelines for living will/advance medical directive...

EntertainmentDirector Shefali Bhushan, and lead actors Shriya Pilgaonkar and Varun Mitra discuss the making of the legal drama, casting, conceptualisation, and more in a chat with Tnm.Saradha UAmazon Prime VideoDevoid of melodramatic monologues from rival lawyers, loud gavels, dramatised clinching testimonies on the witness stand, and judges who are either morally corrupt, or have a holier-than-thou attitude, Amazon Prime Video’s recently released legal drama Guilty Minds has opened to critical acclaim for its nuanced portrayal of Indian legal circles and criminal justice system. Helmed by Shefali Bhushan, who grew up in a family of lawyers, and co-directed by Jayant Digambar Somalkar, the series offers a refreshing and realistic take in a cliche-ridden genre. Speaking to Tnm about the conceptualisation of the series and its writing process, director Shefali Bhushan says, “It started with Manav Bhushan (a biomedical engineer with a law degree) and me in the writers’ room.

Pm Narendra Modi producer Sandip Ssingh is hopeful the Election Commission gives his film "justice" and he can release it soon. But he says the process has given the team more stress than what the makers of Padmavati (Padmaavat) went through. The Supreme Court on Monday directed the Election Commission (EC) to watch Pm Narendra Modi, a biopic on the Prime Minister, and submit its report regarding the film's release in a sealed cover to the court by the end of this week.
"We are in a lot of stress. The team is losing confidence, but we hope and pray that we get justice and we release our film. For the first time it has happened that a filmmaker has to go through this. There's so much of humiliation and so much stress... Not even Padmavati had gone through so much of stress. At least their release was not cancelled just a night before.
