Steven Galanis is a Greek-American film producer, options trader, and
food blogger from Glenview, IL. He is the eldest son of Themis and
Teddi Galanis. Steven is the nephew of
George Furla. He is a 2006 graduate of
Glenbrook South High School where he was a State Championship winning
hockey goalie, varsity football captain, award winning debater, and
class president. After graduating from South he decided to take his
talents to Duke University in Durham, North Carolina. There he majored
in History, minored in Economics, and earned a certificate in Markets
and Management Studies. While at Duke, Steven was a member of the Delta
Sigma Phi fraternity and a goalie on the Hockey team. During his time
in Durham he co-founded a company called Spartan Entertainment that
revolutionized nightlife in the Bull City with the introduction of
Wednesday Night Beer Pong at Shooters II. Galanis was prominently
featured on the cover of the April 2010 issue of Towerview Magazine
where he was called, "The Mayor of Main Street." After college, Steven
returned to Chicago to work on the floor of the Chicago Board of Trade
as a runner. 6 months later he was hired as a trader trainee by MW
Trading. Within two and a half years Steven became a full member of the
Chicago Board Options Exchange (CBOE) where he trades SPX options. He
created his first film investment company, Old Trinity Capital LLC,
with investment from many fellow Chicago based traders. For his first
project Galanis raised $250,000 in three days leading to an investment
in the television show SAF3 (2013)
starring Dolph Lundgren. After the success of that raise, Steven
was invited to partner with a fellow hungry, young producer, 'Martin
Blencowe' (gv). Together they created Blue Baron Productions LLC, in
November 2013. Additionally, Galanis also blogs for Tribune-owned
ChicagoNow.com on, "The Mayor Daily." For fun, he manages the popular
instagram-based food blog @offdabone. When he's not on set or trading,
you can catch Steven at the games of his beloved Chicago Blackhawks,
Bulls, Bears, Cubs, and Duke Blue Devils.
