“We’re breaking ground here,” Brad Goreski declares minutes into the series premiere of MTV’s newest unscripted drama, “The Real Friends of Weho.”
We’ve seen Goreski on our TV screens for 15 years now, from his early days as Rachel Zoe’s assistant to his stints on “Fashion Police” and “Canada’s Drag Race.” He’s still styling his celebrity clients. He’s still happily married to Gary Janetti. He has a beautiful home. All wonderful things, but not groundbreaking.
“My ideal date night is pizza on Sunday,” he admits. Same, Brad, same. So why do we need to see more?
Goreski’s role appears to be the anchor for the six “Real Friends,” a group of Wehovians that includes performer Todrick Hall, actor Curtis Hamilton, CEO of Buttah Skincare Dorión Renaud, TV host Jaymes Vaughan and social media personality Joey Zauzig.

After Candace Cameron Bure angered viewers and other celebrities for talking about Great American Family’s focus on “traditional marraige,” actor Jonathan Bennett pointed out how Hallmark Channel, Bure’s former TV home, is making a tradition out of LGBTQ inclusivity. When E! While the Hallmark Channel is known for its star-studded holiday lineup, until recently, it's also been known for its lack of diversity, particularly when it comes to the LGBTQ+ community. This year, Hallmark has made great strides in becoming a more accurate representation of the real world, with the network's upcoming film The Christmas House being a prime example. The movie, which premieres on Nov. 22, is the first time the channel has made a same-sex couple the main characters in a Christmas film. Normally the first team eliminated on "The Amazing Race" ends up being pretty anonymous, because it's just too hard for producers to give quality time to so many players in a crowded premiere episode. Say what you want about All-Star seasons or the specific All-Stars this season, but very few people were ambivalent about Twinnies Natalie & Nadiya Anderson, who earned fans and haters alike for their first season, which included a contentious money incident, some smart U-Turn strategy and lots and lots and lots of yelling. On Sunday's "Amazing Race" premiere, though, only the yelling was in evidence and even that was half-hearted after a while. Natalie & Nadiya got an early advantage getting on the first of two flights to China, but struggles in a wedding district saw them fall from first to last. By the time they started bickering at the top of the Canton Tower over ferris wheel cars,...

Another week, another full notebook I need to empty out, as my travels this week have taken me to Toronto and the set of 2013 Netflix series Hemlock Grove (more on that in the new year), but I also managed to grab some good scoop from American Horror Story and Portlandia, while chatting up the hunky runners-up from The Amazing Race.

It wasn't a direct path that Jaymes Vaughan and James Davis took to "Amazing Race" success to into the hearts of fans. In the first Leg, the two Chippendales performers seemed to embody every himbo stereotype we wanted to pre-judge them with. Mental gaffes caused them to very nearly get eliminated in that initial episode, as they survived only by virtue of being marginally faster than a middle-aged couple. The Amazing Race finish line on Sunday's finale with The Beekman Boys (and host Phil Keoghan).
Nobody was as surprised as Josh Kilmer-Purcell and Brent Ridge (a.k.a. The Beekman Boys) that they were the first to cross the finish line on Sunday’s Amazing Race finale. Often referring to themselves as the underdogs, the gay couple, who have been together for 14 years, beat the odds and throughout the race maintained their integrity. They constantly pushed and supported each other to a million dollar prize.
We talked to Josh and Brent post-finale to get their take on what put them ahead of the other teams (including runners-up Chippendale contestants Jaymes Vaughan and James Davis),and what exactly they plan to do with their newly won million.
AfterElton: So how hard has it been to keep this secret??
Josh Kilmer-Purcell: It’s more fun to keep a secret than to tell people.

Don't tell Jaymes and James they lost The Amazing Race yet. "Somebody did actually tweet that we won, so I retweeted it! I was like, "'Yeah!'" Jaymes tells TVGuide.com. "Spreading false information! [We'll] hashtag 'sorry, Josh and Brent'! We're proud of what we got. We got a silver medal in The Amazing Race. That's freakin' awesome. What an accomplishment for two guys who couldn't even find the abacus lady in the first leg to make it to the final leg in the Race." Despite falling behind early on the final leg, the fan-favorite Chippendales made up time at the final Roadblock, but it wasn't enough to overtake the Beekmans. Find out how close they were.

Jaymes Vaughan (l) and James Davis celebrate 2nd place on this season's The Amazing Race.
The finale of CBS’s The Amazing Race aired last Sunday night, and we now know that the million dollar prize went to The Beekman Boys, Josh Kilmer-Purcell and his partner, Brent Ridge.
But making the competition hotter – in more ways than one – were Jaymes Vaughan and James Davis, the two Chippendales dancers who proved that not only are they are great to look at but that they also have big hearts.
In fact, one of the more touching points of the show is when Jaymes (the blonde, openly gay one) talked about doing the race for his father, who is currently fighting cancer. The obvious friendship between Jaymes and James (who is straight) was also abundantly clear throughout the race as the guys consistently showed their upbeat, always cheery demeanors as often as their impressive pecs and abs!

I guess ABC doesn't worry about Apartment 23 mocking Dancing with the Stars with these ratings.

“Take Down That Million”
Airs Sundays at 8pm (Et) on CBS
What truly makes a strong team on The Amazing Race? The obvious answer is athleticism, but plenty of powerful young pairs have left early. Scanning through the winners, most are capable at physical challenges but don’t always stand out as the team to beat. Two weeks ago, Abbie and Ryan were eliminated purposely by the others due to their status as a threat. This felt like the right move because Josh and Brent have struggled at many tasks. Even so, their ease at handling mental challenges made them a deceptive choice to keep afloat. Unlike a show like Survivor, it’s problematic to try and manipulate who sticks around because future legs are unknown. There’s no jury at the end to choose the most worthy player. Instead, all it takes is...

I wanted to X those twins so hard. Curse you, Nel!
Previously, on The Amazing Race: Three gay guys (plus 19 other people) set off on a racearoundtheworld for One! Million! Dollars! Ten legs, eight countries and around 20,000 miles later, after eating fish fallopian tubes, riding adongadongs, dancing in lion masks, hauling bamboo, bathing like Turks, swimming in synch, being robbed blind, playing with street organs, battling devils and charging matadors, all three members of Team Gay made it to the finals. Along with Brent & Josh and Jaymes & James, the thieving twins Natalie & Nadiya and the thieving Texans Trey & Lexi comprise the Final Four.
Trey & Lexi are the first to rip their clue at 9:32 Am. They are instructed to fly to Barcelona and from there take a train to the Loire Valley in France. Wait, there's an airport on Mallorca? That ferry ride last Leg was complete bullshit. Team...

Josh Kilmer-Purcell and Brent Ridge have been crowned as the season 21 winners of The Amazing Race. The Beekmans secured the $$1 million grand prize in New York ahead of runners-up Jaymes Vaughan and James Davis and third-placed Trey Wier and Lexi Beerman. Twins Natalie and Nadiya Anderson were earlier eliminated in Loire Valley, France. Josh stated: "We were the underdogs. And what I hope this proves to people whether they're a minority, out of work or they're losing their house or whatever, that if they just keep going and just keep working as hard as they can, people will help and at some time, you will win." His partner Brent added: "This Race really has brought us back together again. I've had to work in the city, and he's on the farm. So winning this Race will actually physically bring us back together again, for the next 50 years." (more)...

If ever there was a clear underdog in any season finale of "The Amazing Race" it was the Beekman Boys in Season 21. They'd never won a leg of the race, and more significantly, the other three teams they were racing against were blatantly in an alliance with one another. The Beekman boys were on their own, and they would have to come together in a way they'd never done before.
The first hour saw them sneak past the twins, Nadiya & Natalie, earning a spot in the Final Three. Then, they got home field advantage as the final destination was their home city of New York. But in the end, it came down to remembering how each country they'd visited said "hello" and "goodbye." While the other teams went with a random approach, the Beekmans turned it from a language exercise into a mathematical one.
That strategy worked, as they were the first ones done.

It all came down to this. The Amazing Race two-hour special finale tonight ended by crowning the pair that was named season 21's $1 million winner, but there were plenty of hurdles Lexi and Trey, James and Jaymes, and Josh and Brent had to face before getting to that point. Here's a little recap of what happened... The 11th leg of the race kicked off with the four teams having to travel by train from Barcelona to Loire Valley, France, and a slight conspiracy. Everyone was trying to formulate a plan to get Josh and Brent (aka the Beekman Boys) out of the race. However, they weren't too discreet about it. With that idea in the back of their heads, the...

The Amazing Race has crowned its 21st pair of winners.
Following a two-hour season finale that features a trio of teams - Lexi and Try, James and Jaymes, Josh and Brent - venturing from Europe to New York, the finalists ended up at the United Nations.
Once there, the tandems paired up the words for "hello" and "goodbye" from the nine nations they visited throughout their travels.
And who came out on top of this memory challenge? Josh and Brent!
“We never, ever thought we would hear you say those words to us,” Brent admitted just after Phil Keoghan announced them as champions. We have a feeling many viewers felt the same way, as Josh concluded:
“We were underdogs, and what I hope this proves to people - whether they’re a minority or they’re out of work or they’re losing their house or whatever - if they...

Our full recap of The Amazing Race is in the works, but before that goes up, we thought it only right to let you know who took home the $1 million prize.
Tonight’s two-hour finale saw the three final teams — Lexi & Trey, James & Jaymes, and Josh & Brent — travel from Europe to the city that is the main home to EW itself: New York! The teams skittered from Coney Island to the Brooklyn Navy Yard (where one from each team had to escape a straight jacket while hanging upside down!) to Lombardi’s in Little Italy to, finally, the United Nations.

Season 21 of "The Amazing Race" is coming to a close on Sunday (Dec. 9), and host Phil Keoghan promises a wild finale.
"The finale is an all-out sprint to the finish line!" Keoghan tells Zap2it. "It's pretty insane. We have a terrifying Houdini-inspired Roadblock in New York, where teams are hanging 15 stories above the Brooklyn Navy Yard...and much more.
"But it's not so much about the challenges that the teams will encounter in the final leg as it is about the mental stress that they have to endure. In the previous legs, the only thing they needed to worry about was not coming in last. Now, it's imperative that they come in first. No room for error."
But often in "Tar," teams have no control over the game -- such as the travel mishaps experienced by Abbie and Ryan, who were on track to be the Race's first $2 million winners.

The Amazing Race Review, Season 21, Episode 10, “Not a Well-Rounded Athlete”
Airs Sundays at 8pm (Et) on CBS
One of the most exciting episodes of The Amazing Race typically happens right before the finale where four teams battle to make the last leg. That appears to be the likely scenario this week, but it’s really just setting the stage for the two-hour conclusion. There’s little at stake beyond placement, and a bunching flight brings everyone close together. Even so, there’s plenty of fun within the challenges to keep it enjoyable. The teams fly to Barcelona and take an overnight ferry to the island of Mallorca, the home of Rafael Nadal. It’s interesting to note the significant gap at the start, which puts each pair on a different flight. Josh and Brent begin about seven hours after Natalie and Nadiya yet finally catch up due to the ferry’s late starting time.

So long, Ryan & Abbie. We'll always remember you as the team too generic to generate a nickname.
Previously on The Amazing Race, teams traveled from Moscow to Amsterdam. Natalie & Nadiya launched their careers as supervillains, hatching a dastardly scheme to ensure Ryan & Abbie's Philimination and winning the Leg via Fast Forward before some teams had even left Moscow. Jaymes & James wrestled with their consciences (sadly neither nudity nor oil were involved) and carried out their part in the twins' plan by U-Turning Team No-Nickname before finishing 2nd. Trey & Lexi sealed the deal and took 3rd place by U-Turning Team Chippendale and foreclosing Ryan & Abbie's only opportunity. Not that it mattered since not one but two blown connections out of Germany broke the team, leading them back into their baffling Beekman Boys bond. The teams raced together until the U-Turn perfidy was discovered. Josh seriously considered sticking with the...

When did The Amazing Race become Survivor? The leading teams basically voted Abbie and Ryan out by removing the “double” part of the Double U-Turn. While losing an arrogant team usually is refreshing, they still get a raw deal. Even without the flight delays, there is little chance that Abbie and Ryan could survive. Jaymes and James do the official U-Turn on them, but it’s really Trey and Lexi that seal the deal. Instead of picking the goat farmers or skipping it, they purposely choose a team ahead of them. It’s a smart plan that removes a strong team, yet it still leaves a hollow feeling. Blaming the players isn’t fair since they’re just using the devices put in place by the producers. They want to create inter-team drama and aren...

Abbie and Ryan probably won't be traveling through Frankfurt any time soon — or its airport at least. Two weeks after missing a connecting flight there on The Amazing Race, double bad luck struck again when a ticket agent refused to allow the two to board their connecting flight and their backup connection had mechanical trouble. To top it off, the Chippendales, Jaymes and James, U-Turned them as part of a pact with Natalie and Nadiya, and Trey and Lexi. "We were dead men walking," Ryan tells TVGuide.com. "There was no way we were going to be safe unless it was a non-elimination." See what else the couple, who were the first team ever racing for $2 million, has to say about their "rough" couple of legs, working with Josh and Brent, and if they're really mad at the Chippendales.

Last week’s episode concluded with three teams still trying to finish the leg. Brent was having no luck in the pool, and James and Abba were standing dumbfounded at the mat without a passport. One of the most exciting parts about The Amazing Race is how unpredictable events can completely change the game. Although teams are competing in designed challenges, there is no definite way to avoid chaos. There have been extreme cases in the past, especially in the All-Star season where the next leg began while others were still competing in the previous one. That may be the case again here because of several factors. First of all, a delayed flight strands Abbie and Ryan and Josh and Brent overnight in the Frankfurt airport. They finally arrive at Moscow while several others are finishing. The unnecessary gamble to choose a faster flight with a one-hour layover costs them.
