Apple TV+ wants more of the sci-fi thriller Invasion and has picked up the series from Simon Kinberg (the Deadpool films) and David Weil (Hunters) for a third season.

Wall Street executive takes his family on an explosive ride in Liam Neeson’s new action thriller Retribution.

Things are speeding up again for Liam Neeson. He's set to headline the upcoming independent thriller Retribution. Described as an updated and more compact Speed, the movie is a remake of the Spanish film El Desconocido (2015). The original, which starred Luis Tosar, was nominated for eight Goya Awards.

The screenplay for this new version was written by Chris Salmanpour and Andrew Baldwin.

Neeson will play a well off Wall Street executive who is told by an anonymous caller that bombs have been in his car, which he is driving with his family beside him. He is told the bombs will go off if he doesn’t follow a series of increasingly harrowing instructions.

Retribution is the fourth collaboration Neeson is making with Studiocanal, which is producing Retribution with The Picture Company...

He’s unraveled mind-bending conspiracies and tackled terrorism on a transatlantic flight, but for his latest StudioCanal shindig, Hollywood’s favorite action veteran Liam Neeson is headed to Wall Street.

Deadline has the scoop, revealing that the Irish actor has come aboard StudioCanal’s Retribution, the English-language remake of Spanish action-thriller El Desconocido. Filming is due to commence in the fall, and we understand Chris Salmanpour and Andrew Baldwin are the brains behind the script. No word on who will get behind the lens to direct, but Deadline is quick to point out that it won’t be Jaume Collet-Serra.

If that name rings a bell, it should; for the past six years, the Spanish filmmaker has ensured Liam Neeson’s particular set of skills extended far beyond the Taken franchise, after recruiting the 64-year-old to headline Unknown, Non-Stop and 2018’s action vehicle, The Commuter.

These days, it seems you can’t go to a film, turn on your television or surf the net without coming across Idris Elba and the army of adoring fans he’s amassed over the years. The English actor has been working overseas since the mid-1990s but really broke through in North America as Russell “Stringer” Bell on the critically acclaimed HBO drama The Wire.

Since then, Elba has headlined the popular BBC crime drama Luther and appeared in countless films, including the Thor series, Netflix drama Beasts of No Nation and this summer’s Star Trek Beyond. Having headlined British crime drama Luther for three seasons, Idris Elba simply disappears into the role of a gruff and steely secret agent, and that’s exactly the archetype he’ll be portraying in James Watkins’ Parisian thriller, Bastille Day.

Watkins, best known for helming Eden Lake and Daniel Radcliffe-fronted horror flick The Woman In Black, is switching gears to dip his toe in the spy thriller genre. Elba, meanwhile, leads the charge as Sean Briar, the CIA’s top dog that’s dispatched on a mission to the French capital, only to unearth a seedy conspiracy that stretches far above anything he could’ve imagined.
