Before the 2020s, film archivists' worst nightmares were digital degradation or the simple loss of film reels. Now, streaming services have created a new one for them: the purging of original movies and series without a physical release.
HBO Max has been a leading culprit, but Disney+ isn't blameless either. This is, after all, the same company that used to place its movies in the "Disney Vault" during the reign of physical media. It had previously been confirmed that the service would be removing 50 titles on May 26, 2023, including "Willow," "Big Shot," and "Y: The Last Man." However, it's been discovered that another title was unexpectedly included in the purge: "Marvel's Runaways," which is now no longer listed on Hulu or Disney+ (in the U.S. or internationally).
Nominally set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, "Runaways" adapted the eponymous comic first created by Brian K. Vaughan and Adrian Aphona. Both the...

Songs can be like time capsules, messages from the past that conjure powerful images and emotions, transporting us back to milestones in our lives with a signature sound. For the heroine at the heart of “Press Play,” the curated collection of songs on a very special mixtape are a literal transportive device, a time warp that rewinds back to when the love of her life was alive and well. Like the songs that fill its soundtrack, Greg Björkman’s directorial debut has a catchy hook and atmospheric pull — yet the material leaves far too much underdeveloped, unrealized and incohesive to connect with viewers’ heads and hearts.

Marvel video games have a massive library’s worth of characters to draw from, thanks to the publication’s long history and Marvel’s love of the multiverse shenanigans and old-fashioned team-ups. Firaxis Games’ upcoming Marvel strategy title, Marvel’s Midnight Suns, already featured a huge cast of characters when it was announced, and the game’s cast of heroes and villains has only grown since then.
During Summer Game Fest 2022, Firaxis revealed a new trailer for Midnight Suns (which was even backed by Metallica’s “Master of Puppets”). The video doesn’t reveal much about the upcoming title’s story or gameplay (though this new video preview offers quite a bit of Midnight Suns gameplay), but it did provide plenty of “superheroes fighting demons” action. Even better, the video showed the game’s main antagonist, Lilith, corrupting Venom and turning him into a half-demon, half-Symbiote monster. Mind you, it...

"Most people only get one shot being with the person they love. You've been given two." The Avenue has revealed an official trailer for an indie film titled Press Play, a time travel romance from filmmaker Greg Björkman making his directorial debut. “Chewing Gum”, from Mihir Fadnavis, features a strange man (Randeep Jha) tormented by an unearthly being on a trip through the city as he becomes increasingly aware of malicious forces chasing after him. This is a fairly fun and chilling short that gets the block off to a great start. The moody black-and-white cinematography from Pratik Shah adds immensely to the presentation, enhancing the shadows around him and keeping the suspense piling up with the strange creature following him almost entirely invisible as a result. The terrifying screeches, groans, and slurping sounds it emits are genuinely chilling, and add to the terrifying ordeal he experiences into the night. This segment can easily be stretched and expanded into a longer feature as the folklore and imagery provided here are top-notch.

The live-action Marvel series “Runaways” is ending with its upcoming season on Hulu, Variety has learned.
The show, which is based on the Marvel comics series of the same name, is set to debut its third season on Dec. 13. That season will now serve as the show’s finale. The upcoming third season of Marvel’s Runaways will be its last. The 10-episode third season of the Hulu series premieres Dec. 13.
Marvel’s Runaways fans should not be alarmed that the drama would end abruptly with no closure — the story is said to come to a natural ending point at the end of Season 3.
In Season 3, the Runaways frantically search for their captured friends Chase, Gert, and Karolina. The kids go head-to-head with an unstoppable enemy who has targeted Leslie — or more accurately, the child she’s carrying. Nico draws them all into a dark realm where its ruler, Morgan le Fay, played by Elizabeth Hurley, is much more nefarious than anyone the kids have yet to face. (watch a new trailer with the final season announcement above.)

I’m pretty stoked for the upcoming third season of Marvel’s Runaways. This has been a fun show to watch and the next season is going to get a lot more interesting with the arrival of the character Morgan le Fay played by Elizabeth Hurley, as well as the crossover with Freeform’s Cloak & Dagger.

Hulu is staging a superhero team-up of epic proportions.
It has been announced that the Runaways will be getting some assistance from Cloak & Dagger's Tandy and Tyrone during the upcoming third season of the hit series.
“You’ve all been asking for this and we’ve heard you loud and clear. So we made it happen,” the Runaways cast revealed in the video below, confirming the news.
It's unclear how the different groups will cross paths, but still, this is great news for fans of both Marvel dramas, especially given that Cloak & Dagger has yet to be renewed for a third season.
The show experienced a big dip in the ratings, with the sophomore run averaging around 355k viewers and 0.12 rating in the demo.

Hulu has released a teaser trailer for Marvel’s third season of The Runaways, and they’ve announced that the series will premiere on December 13th!
I’ve really enjoyed what Marvel has done with this series. I’ve enjoyed the characters they’ve brought to life and the story that is being told with them. I have no idea how long this show will last, but I’m glad that it’s getting at least one more season. I can’t wait to see how this story will play out.
Season 3 will consist of ten new episodes and the teaser features a bloodied and beaten down Runaways team. This is the synopsis that was shared for Season 3:

Elizabeth Hurley will be bringing some dark magic to Marvel’s Runaways on Hulu in the Season 3 role of Morgan Le Fey, a sorceress with considerable history and even greater power.
The Royals actress will be taking on the role of a character that dates back to 1955 in the lore of Marvel Comics (then still known as Atlas Comics). The character made her debut in The Black Knight issue No. 1, which introduced the nefarious Le Fey as the scheming half-sister of King Arthur of Camelot and a high priestess born with faerie heritage.
That 1955 issue was written by Marvel Comics icon Stan Lee, who imported Le Fey’s name and persona from the classic Arthurian legends that mesmerized him as a child. Black Knight issue No. 1 was illustrated by Joe Maneely, who is credited as the character’s co-creator along with Lee.

Set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, “Runaways” stars Rhenzy Feliz, Lyrica Okano, Virginia Gardner, Ariela Barer, Gregg Sulkin, and Allegra Acosta as the Runaways, six teenagers from different backgrounds who unite against their parents, the Pride, portrayed by Angel Parker, Ryan Sands, Annie Wersching, Kip Pardue, Ever Carradine, James Marsters, Brigid Brannagh, Kevin Weisman, Brittany Ishibashi, and James Yaegashi.
The new order is for 10 episodes, down three from Season 2, which hit Hulu in Dec. 2018.
“We are so excited to tell more ‘Runaways’ stories and are so grateful to Marvel, Hulu, our amazing cast and crew and of course our passionate audience,” said co-showrunners and executive producers Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage. “Season three will be a magical time on Runaways, as we deepen our connection to the Marvel universe. Marsters broke the news at Lexington Comic & Toy Con this weekend. While on a panel, Marsters, who stars as Victor Stein and Jonah in the series, whispered into the mic that “the showrunner just told the cast that we’re in for a third season!”
He later lamented, “I probably just broke all kinds of Marvel rules.”
He probably did. Shortly after a video of his remarks hit the Internet, Hulu confirmed that Marvel’s Runaways has been renewed for a 10-episode third season. (Get all the details here.)

Marvel’s Runaways looks set to return to Hulu for a third season after the digital platform’s content chief Craig Erwich praised the performance of the comic book adaptation.
The show’s 13-episode second season launched on December 21, 2018 and it seems likely that there’ll be another run this year.
“We’re really happy with the performance of Runaways, both creatively and in terms of its performance, and we’ll have an announcement shortly,” Erwich said, speaking Monday during Hulu’s session at TCA.
The second season of the Josh Schwartz- and Stephanie Savage-produced series saw the Runaways leaving their home and their evil parents behind and learning to live on their own. It showed them scavenging for food and searching for shelter.

Whew, talk about a Staff meeting.
In Episode 2 of Marvel’s Runaways‘ second season (now playing on Hulu), Nico (played by Lyrica Okano) fell into quite a parent trap when she showed up at her family home to reclaim the Staff of One. What followed was a startlingly intense throwdown between mother and daughter — one that threatened to claim some collateral damage along the way, in Nico’s friends.
TVLine spoke with Okano about slugging it out with TV mom Brittany Ishibashi, how the fallout of the fracas affects the nascent Nico/Karolina romance, and “darker” times still yet to come.
