"Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." was a changed show in its second season. In its early days, the Marvel Television series suffered from an identity crisis. Season 1 started out trying to emulate co-creator Joss Whedon's previous work, yet it played as a pale imitation of shows like "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" and especially "Firefly," following a ragtag team of misfits on weekly adventures in their flying home base. However, the one-two combo punch of Whedon stepping away from the series and "Captain America: The Winter Soldier" blowing up the Marvel Cinematic Universe's status quo near the end of season 1 proved to be just the creative boost the show needed.
Upon returning for season 2, "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." had gained a newfound confidence. Its characters began to take on greater dimensions, it really embraced the idea of being a show about everyday people trying to keep the world safe, and it even started...

No news is good news... until it's bad news.
Apple TV+ has canceled its Uma Thurman drama series Suspicion after a single season.
Deadline first reported the news a year and a half after its freshman finale.
"When the son of a prominent American businesswoman (Thurman) is kidnapped from a New York hotel, the eye of suspicion quickly falls on four seemingly ordinary British citizens who were at the hotel on the night in question," the logline teased.
"As they find themselves in a trans-Atlantic cat and mouse race to evade the combined forces of the National Crime Agency and the F.B.I. to prove their innocence, it becomes apparent that not everyone can be trusted."

Apple TV+ thriller “Suspicion” is set to hit the sales block in Cannes at this year’s MipTV market.
Keshet International has revealed that the eight-part series starring Uma Thurman will headline its drama slate at the spring TV market in France, which kicks off on April 17. The Israeli TV distributor will shop linear rights for the series.
Apple TV+ commissioned Keshet U.K. to produce “Suspicion,” which is based on the popular Israeli series “False Flag” and launched on the service in February 2022. Its sales foray marks one of the rare instances where an original on a streamer (that’s still available globally on the platform) has been sold on the open market for linear rights.
In recent years, major SVODs have been focused on keeping originals on their own platforms for extensive periods in order to drive subscribers. However, in this case, it’s Keshet International that holds...

It's pretty incredible how "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.," a television spin-off of the central agency who brought the Avengers together, evolved beyond its constraints, and became one of the most interesting success stories of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. When it first started airing, a swath of people were ready for it to get the axe after the first season, only for it to last for over 130 episodes across seven seasons.
One of the largest reasons why "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." defied the odds was because of its tremendous ensemble. Clark Gregg, Chloe Bennet, Ming-Na Wen, Elizabeth Henstridge, Iain De Caestecker, Brett Dalton, Henry Simmons, and Natalia Córdova-Buckley were all instrumental in making this off-branch of the Marvel universe worth following beyond waiting for an "Iron Man" cameo.

Before Disney+ and Kevin Feige brought television series into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D" was a fan-favorite network television underdog. Born out of 2012's "The Avengers," the show followed a team of S.H.I.E.L.D. agents assembled by a newly not-dead Phil Coulson (Clark Gregg). Thanks to a strong fanbase, "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." survived cancellation multiple times with rallying cries on social media like #CoulsonLives and #SaveAgentsOfSHIELD.
"Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." had a rough start, but then "Captain America: The Winter Soldier" hit theaters, revealing the McU's biggest twist thus far. Since S.H.I.E.L.D.'s inception, Hydra had moles on the inside. The show's story exploded from there, exploring how these street-level agents grapple with the aftermath. What started as a seemingly typical network "villain of the week" formula became a great companion piece to the movies. As the seasons progressed, the...

Emergency call handling is one of the highest-stress jobs that take place in an office environment. Handlers need to keep their head as they extract information from panicked and injured callers, who are often in dangerous situations. There can be highs, like the first call taken by Iain de Caestecker’s lead in BBC One thriller The Control Room – over the phone, Gabe talks a scared couple through the emergency roadside delivery of their child and they name the baby after him, their own angel Gabriel. For Elizabeth Henstridge‘s directorial debut, as a cast member of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., she wound up delivering one of TV’s greatest time loop episodes. And while her second time behind the camera, for The CW’s Superman & Lois (airing this Tuesday at 8/7c), didn’t involve such a brain-hurting, circular narrative, it presented challenges of its own, which she details in the TVLine Q&a below.

Though it doesn’t make Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. a part of MCU canon by any means (not that anything short of an act of Odin will), it’s still a pretty cool thing that the seven-season Marvel series is moving to Disney+ with (step-)sister series Daredevil, Luke Cage et al.

“I Am Slave” director Gabriel Range’s “Stardust,” that chronicles the young David Bowie’s first visit to the U.S. in 1971, a trip that inspired the invention of his iconic alter ego Ziggy Stardust, will open the 28th Raindance Film Festival.
Like several other festivals this year, Raindance will be a hybrid version comprised of a strong online presence with some physical events and screenings. The festival’s 50-strong film program will be available online across the U.K. while live events will be confined to London. The films will be free, though financial contributions will be encouraged, 28% of which will be donated to charitable causes.
Range will participate in a physical red carpet event for “Stardust” in London, and in-person activity will also include an out-of-competition gala screening of Akabane Hiroshi’s Japanese film “Twiceborn,” with both events taking place at London’s The May Fair hotel.

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 7 went out on a high note, revisiting some of its greatest hits and promising a happy ending for the majority of its characters.
For a show that was a spin-off of one of the most successful film franchises of all time, the expectations were high from the start.
Thankfully they were able to cement their worthiness as a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, proven by the victory lap they took us on this final season. From Hydra to the Quantum Realm, it's a season we won't soon forget.

This article contains spoilers for Agents of Shield.
No matter what varied opinions arise about each character’s ultimate fate at the end of the Agents of Shield series finale, many fans likely finished their viewing with a few questions lingering in their minds. Although the end result is one of satisfaction and bittersweet tears for the conclusion of this seven year journey, the intricacy of the time travel twists and turns may have melted a few brains along the way. Between the Chronicom defeat and the “one year later” epilogue, there’s plenty of room for interpretation and speculation.
Let’s first take a look at how Fitz used time travel to undo the changes to history brought about throughout Agents of Shield season 7. With the Lighthouse brought down by Garrett’s bombs and every other Shield outpost destroyed from space, the Chronicom victory seemed assured, so how was Sybil’s plan completely erased?...

Spoiler Alert: This article contains details of tonight’s doubleheader Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. series finale.
“Cool.”
That’s the last word spoken tonight in the very last episode of Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. as Clark Gregg’s Phil Coulson flies off from the superspy HQ in a new version of his very special cherry red 1962 Chevrolet Corvette L.O.L.A., which stands for Levitating Over Land Automobile.
“It also indicates, as you noted, we handed the baton nicely to Daisy,” EP Jed Whedon says of the Chloe Bennett portrayed Inhuman character. “You really get the sense that she’s now doing what he did,” the S.H.I.E.Ld. co-showrunner adds “She’s found a lost person who has potential and she’s building a family and she’s taken his role. A happy ending for everybody! Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. said farewell tonight with a two-hour series finale, and there were many surprises to be had after—you guessed it—the team won its fight against the Chromicoms. Fitz (Ian de Caestecker) and Simmons (Elizabeth Henstridge) were reunited, but Simmons' mind was such a mess that she had forgotten pretty much everything about him . She spent the finale slowly remembering what she was fighting for: her daughter! FitzSimmons have a secret daughter! And we're not freaking out about it at all! From that reveal, the finale cut to one year later, when the whole team was reuniting to catch up after going their separate ways. Of...

(Warning: The following story contains Major spoilers for the two-part series finale of ABC’s “Agents of Shield” on Wednesday.)
It may have taken until midway through the show’s series finale, but Fitz finally showed up in “Agents of Shield’s” final season and put an end to the season-long mystery of just where the other half of FitzSimmons while the rest of the team was hopping through time.
“We knew we were gonna have a challenge with building a story for Fitz this season,” co-showrunner Jed Whedon told TheWrap. Because of scheduling conflicts, Iain De Caestecker had very limited availability for the final season, which led the Marvel TV series to work in a story that saw Fitz stay behind, in an unknown location, while the Shield team was trying to prevent the Chronicoms from messing up the timeline (spoiler: they were not very successful).

Agents of Shield fans may have initially been surprised at how well the actor portraying a young John Garrett, the charming double agent portrayed by the late Bill Paxton in season one, was able to mimic the actor’s recognizable mannerisms, even evoking vibes of Paxton’s famous Aliens role. However, those who recognized the actor as Bill’s own son James Paxton saw instead a fitting tribute and a touching family legacy as the role was passed on.
Seeing young Garrett during the team’s visit to 1983 might not at first have seemed to fit with the storyline surrounding Inhumans, but longtime viewers of Agents of Shield will remember that the agent’s secret involvement with Hydra stemmed from an incident where he was injured in Sarajevo, becoming one of the first subjects of Project Deathlok to replace his damaged parts with machinery. In directing one of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.‘s best final-season episodes (as well as one of TV’s great time loop crises), Elizabeth Henstridge oversaw a first kiss that was, well, Marvel-ous.

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is not holding back for their final season.
Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 7 Episode 9, Elizabeth Henstridge's directorial debut, contained all the elements of an Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. episode at its best.
There was weird science, hilarious moments (every single try to stop Enoch was priceless), and heartbreak, all intertwined together to produce an outstanding hour that won't soon be forgotten. At its core, though, it was all about family.
It took nine episodes, but we have finally witnessed the first major death of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 7.
The stakes have been high this season, and it was only a matter of time before a member of the team lost their life. Unfortunately, that person, or Chronicom, was Enoch.
Daisy: Enoch, the team will carry on the mission. We will survive because of you. Thank you.

Agents of Shield Season 7 Episode 9
Groundhog Day episodes are a dangerous prospect. They can be whimsical, with mistakes erased and deaths undone, or they can be meaningless, completely removing the stakes that make conflict interesting. They can allow characters to learn from each time loop, or they can become irritatingly repetitive for the viewer. Fortunately, this week’s Agents of Shield does everything right, from varying the camera angles to break up the duplicate scenes to pausing for reflection with both comedic and tragic results.
Time loop episodes always have one or two characters who are aware of what’s happening, and Agents of Shield should be applauded for not spending too much time on the reason behind that phenomenon. Daisy and Coulson were in regenerative pods when the loop began — that’s all we need to know! The fact that iterations...

Elizabeth Henstridge and her character on Agents of Shield, Jemma Simmons, have both been fan favorites for as long as the show has been on the air. It’s a role Henstridge landed just a year after coming to the U.S. with only a passion for acting and a few professional connections, but now with her success on the Marvel series she has made it all the way to the director’s chair. Her helming debut will be seen this week in the season 7 episode, “As I Have Always Been,” an installment that finds the team experiencing a Groundhog Day style time loop which they must escape or perish.
Henstridge welcomed the chance to take on such a story, and she gave a lot of the credit to the episode’s writer. “It was a very welcome challenge,” she said. “As a director, it’s kind of the best...

For her directorial debut, Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. star Elizabeth Henstridge wasn’t handed any ol’ episode, but a “time loop” crisis for which she had to manage numerous, slightly different takes on a handful of repeated scenes.
In this farewell season’s ninth episode out of 13 — titled “As I Have Always Been” and airing tonight at 10/9c — a “time storm” ravages the Zephyr, propelling it ever closer to destruction while simultaneously forcing Daisy (played by Chloe Bennet) to attempt to save the team over and over, until a solution is found… or the ship is swallowed into a void.
