Marie Phillips's Gods Behaving Badly, which sees Aphrodite working as a phone-sex operator and Dionysus running a nightclub in London, will transfer its setting to New York when it is directed by Marc Turtletaub, the producer of 2006 Us comedy-drama Little Miss Sunshine. The ancient Greek gods have been uncommonly active in the movie biz over the last few years, via appearances in Percy Jackson and Clash of the Titans, not to mention the forthcoming Immortals and Wrath of the Titans. A more light-hearted film about them is brewing too, with Christopher Walken, Sharon Stone and John Turturro set to star as some of the legendary deities.
Gods Behaving Badly is the name of the movie, and it is based on the book of the same name by Marie Phillips, which portrayed the Greek Gods as having fallen on hard times since their heyday in the Mediterranean some 3,000 years ago. Most shockingly for a once-privileged elite, they have been forced to – gasp! – find jobs, with Apollo working as a television psychic, Aphrodite being employed as a phone-sex operator, and Artemis earning money as a dog-walker.

So take a random bunch of big-name stars, throw them in a blender and spit them out; what have you got? No, not another season of "Celebrity Rehab," (though I'm guessing it would totally work with this group)...actually, you've got what could be a very entertaining film. Meanwhile, I guess I have another book to add to my ever-growing to read list: Marie Phillips' Gods Behaving Badly. The best-selling, satirical novel rounds up a familiar group of Greek Gods (Apollo, Zeus, Aphrodite, Eros, etc.), who have fallen from grace and now live together in human form in modern London. Forced to live and work at such lowly jobs as dog walker, television psychic and phone-sex worker, the Gods' paths intersect with a young couple and from there, I suppose hijinks ensue. While the film details are sketchy, the idea of this group of actors gathered together and playing...

Ok, I’m totally interested in this one. Not just because we have some great cast on board, but because I just love the stories with Greek Gods, and especially now when they’re behaving badly.
But please, first check out this cast: Christopher Walken, John Turturro, Sharon Stone, Alicia Silverstone, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, Oliver Platt, Edie Falco, Phylicia Rashad, Nelsan Ellis, Gideon Glick, Henry Zebrowski and Rosie Perez.
I mean, is this possible? They are all set to star in an upcoming Marc Turtletaub‘s adaptation of Marie Phillips’ bestselling novel titled Gods Behaving Badly!
First, let me tell you that writers Josh Goldfaden and Marc Turtletaub (producer of projects like ‘Little Miss Sunshine,’ ‘Jack Goes Boating’ and ‘My Idiot Brother’) adapted the whole thing, and Turtletaub will make his feature directing debut.

Well, this could go either one way or the other…..
Young UK writer Marie Phillips’ comedy novel about Ancient Greek Gods living in modern-day Hampstead, Gods Behaving Badly, is heading for the big screen, albeit in a different setting.
The story is being transposed from that London location to the Us, where Zeus and Co. will be mingling with mere mortals on the streets of New York City. The fish out of water scenario features a human couple (to be played in the film by Alicia Silverstone and Ebon Moss-Bachrach) who come into contact with the assortment of gods (to be played by the likes of such heavyweights as Christopher Walken, John Turturro, and Edie Falco) who have been stripped of their deity-like powers and are all are now forced to work in menial jobs, such as phone sex operators and dog-walkers.

The tides are about to get stranger for Johnny Depp.
The Wrap reports that Depp is "close to a deal" for a fifth "Pirates of the Caribbean," surprising... well, nobody. The latest movie in the franchise, "On Stranger Tides," just passed the $1 billion mark at the global box office, and Jerry Bruckheimer is rumored to be meeting intensively with writers to polish up the screenplay.
We can hardly imagine what shenanigans Captain Jack Sparrow will get into this time, but we're sure the masterminds at Disney have something clever up their sleeves.
In the news after the jump, some major comedians check in to "Hotel Transylvania," a "Zombieland" star thinks the sequel won't ever happen and a brilliant moviemaker signs Christopher Walken on as Zeus.

Christopher Walken may have earned status as a screen legend with his combination of unique looks, voice, and dance moves; and now it seems that he has yet another accomplishment to add to his resume: God.
Entertainment Weekly reports that Walken has been tapped to play Zeus in Big Beach Films' screen adaptation of Marie Phillips' "Gods Behaving Badly."
The book details what happens when gods are forced to live together in a New York City brownstone and work among the city's mere mortals; like "The Real World," but with less puking.

The film, based on the satirical novel by author Marie Phillips, revolves around Zeus' family of destitute Gods and a young couple who change their lives. During the book's promotion, Philips revealed: “Ultimately [religion] comes down to siding with one team or another...what about the Greeks?" "No-one sides with that team any more. There is something ethereal about Christopher Walken, isn't there? Perhaps it's the voice, deep and deliberate and wise, or maybe it's his lanky gait. Either way, it seems oddly appropriate that the Oscar-winner has been cast as Zeus, King of the Gods, in the upcoming book-to-film, "Gods Behaving Badly."
Of course, Walken will play a zany, blue collar version of the lightning thrower, one that lives with his fellow Greek Gods in a brownstone in New York City. Joining him in the Olympus/row house will be a powerhouse cast of stars, including Sharon Stone as Aphrodite, Oliver Platt as Apollo, Edie Falco as Artemis, Phylicia Rashad as Demeter, John Turturro as Hades and Rosie Perez as Persephone.

Gods Behaving Badly is a movie that just seems to have appeared out of nowhere, with a press release from today announcing its main cast. Thankfully for all of us, it’s quite an interesting one, especially for something that seems to have been developing rather quietly. Based on the novel by Marie Phillips, it’s the story of Greek Gods who end up living in a brownstone apartment in modern day New York City (changed from the original setting of a London home), working at simple jobs, while threatening the relationship of a young couple; “everything else” is also said to be at stake.
The young couple — named Kate and Neil — will be played by Alicia Silverstone and Ebon Moss-Bachrach, but the exciting actors are getting the parts of the Gods. The press release says that they’ll be appearing as follows: “Aphrodite — Sharon Stone, Apollo — Oliver Platt, Artemis — Edie Falco,...
