Bruce McAllister's science fiction, fantasy and horror have appeared in national magazines, literary quarterlies, "year's best" volumes (/Best American Short Stories/, others) and college textbooks; and have won or been short-listed for various awards, including the National Endowment for the Arts, Hugo, Nebula, the Shirley Jackson Award, and others. His novels include the far-future science-fiction epic /Humanity Prime/, the Hugo- and Nebula-finalist ESP-in-war classic /Dream Baby/, and the Cybils-nominated fantasy/The Village Sang to the Sea: A Memoir of Magic/. His Hugo-nominee short story "Kin" was chosen by LeVar Burton to launch his new podcast /LeVar Burton Reads/. His fans over the years have included Phillip K. Dick, Robert Bloch, and Stephen King. He is the son of a career Navy-officer father who served with NATO during the Cold War and an underdog-championing anthropologist mother and grew up in Florida, Washington D.C., California and Northern Italy. He has three grown children--Annie, Ben and Liz--and is married to choreographer Amelie Hunter.
