Isabel Aranguren
- Art Director
- Production Designer
The design of the space that brings life to words and actions depicted on scripts is my central focus. It is the center of the puzzle I deconstruct which allows that world to exist. Spanning set design, styling and decorating a wide variety of concepts for editorials, film and television, I pursue each project as an isolated world that supports the actions that thread the narrative. Nothing less, nothing more. I believe the space evokes and grounds its inhabitants by existing, not appropriating. I live and breath Art, my collaborations deliver what Writers and Directors envision. My rich and diverse background come up constantly in my work. In layered textures, carefully curated hues and contours. I define my collaboration by shaping yours.
My childhood elapsed between Europe and The United States; my adolescence began in Venezuela, land of my parents and my definite identity. I fell in love with the urban vibe of Caracas, it's cultural richness and polarizing beauty. It's many artistic institutions, libraries and temples of thought supported my design school era at the Instituto de Diseño de Caracas, a prestigious design school that followed the Bruno Munari method. I became an Industrial Designer. Towards the end of my studies I joined the Scenery Department at the Teresa Carreño Theater, my first glimpse at Stage Design. I would go on to follow this new found passion in The States at the end of the century and began my collaboration as Set Decorator for music videos, advertisement and editorials. After a few years I moved to Madrid where I was offered a position as Photographic Editor at Conde Nast. I took pleasure in many other editorial rolls that include producing, set styling and authoring several fashion, travel and design articles and editorials. After two years I parted yet remained as freelance collaborator and began to explore film in short format and continue Set Styling, writing and traveling.
I live in Los Angeles where I continue to collaborate on feature films, web content, advertising, editorials and live events.
