Janin Stenzel was born in East Berlin, Germany. Stenzel spent her childhood in Lichtenberg and Pankow until, shortly before starting school, she moved with her parents and younger brother to the Berlin suburb Hönow. Her love for arts and music began at school. She performed in various high school plays, sang in several bands and choirs, and danced (jazz and tap dance) for 10 years in the Kinder- und Jugendtanzensemble Neuenhagen.
In 2006 Stenzel began her studies at Film University Potsdam Babelsberg and starred in her first feature film Sickness of Youth (2010). She was awarded for Outstanding Ensemble Performance at the German Drama School festival in Zurich. After graduating Stenzel's engagements as a theater actress took her to Oldenburg, Wiesbaden, Graz, Porvoo near Helsinki, Basel, Paris and London. Janin put her linguistic skills to good use in her solo piece The Guitar Man by Jon Fosse. She performed the German version in Basel and Berlin, the French version in Paris and also an English version after moving to London.
Stenzel's work as voiceover artist includes numerous dubbing and audio book productions. She is the German voice of Claire Foy, Shailene Woodley, Zoe Kazan and Jena Malone. Her short film Easy Said Up High (2021) is screening at film festivals around the globe and has been awarded with Best Romance at International Cinephiles Film Festival, Best Comedy at London Rocks Film Festival and Best Comedy at Out Of The Can Film Festival. In the series Abgenabelt airing in Germany on Amazon Prime Video, Stenzel is starring as midwife Nele.
