Alano Miller has built a dynamic career as a versatile actor who has moved effortlessly form one genre to another, shining in comedy and drama, film, television and theater. He can be seen as 'Evan Fisher,' the title star of "Cherish the Day", an anthology drama by Ava DuVernay. He can also be seen in a strong supporting role in "Sylvie's Love" as 'Lacy' alongside Eva Longoria and Tessa Thompson that will premiere on Amazon this Summer after its debut at Sundance 2020.

Miller co-starred in Misha Green and Joe Pokaski's highly acclaimed period drama "Underground." Miller stars as 'Cato' a striking, cunning and oddly charismatic enslaved man on a Georgia plantation who is despised and feared. Daniel Fienberg of The Hollywood Reporter described Miller as "the best of the supporting escapees" and Neil Genzlinger of The New York Times described his performance as "Fabulous." "Underground" follows a group of slaves who plan a daring escape from a plantation to cross the 600 miles to freedom. His performance as Cato landed him on The Hollywood Reporters Supporting Class of 2016.

That same year, Miller co-starred in Focus Features' "Loving" alongside Joel Edgerton, Michael Shannon, Ruth Negga and Nick Kroll. Directed by Jeff Nichols, the film tells the true story of Richard (Edgerton) and Mildred (Negga) Loving. Miller also appeared in the 2013 film, "Wish You Well" helmed by Darnell Martin, starring alongside Ellen Burstyn, Josh Lucas and Ned Bellamy.

Additionally, Miller starred in the Emmy award winning B.A.N. episode of FX's "Atlanta," as well as the CW's critically acclaimed and Golden Globe Award winning show, "Jane the Virgin." In Atlanta, Miller played fictional talk show host Montague, and in JTV, Alano plays twins Roman and Aaron Zazo. Miller's other television credits include guest appearances on "NCIS," "Battle Creek," "Stalker," "Person of Interest," "Golden Boy," "Ironside," "Vegas," "Damages," "How to Make it in America" and "Royal Pains."

By the time Miller graduated high school, he amassed a score of awards and titles including being names a six-time Martin Luther King, Jr. Oratorical Winner and receiving the Key to the City of Orlando. Miller also holds three national titles in oratory: Elks of the World, NAACP and Modern Woodsman of America. Out of 8,500 students nationwide he won the National Foundation for the Advancement of the Arts Award. Miller also received the Presidential Scholar Award.

Miller's additional theatrical credits include playing 'Malcolm King' in Nathan Louis Jackson's "Broke-ology" at Lincoln Center, 'Cory' in August Wilson's "Fences," 'G.H.' in Paul Green and Richard Wright's "Native Son." Alano's theatrical break came through The New York Times Award winning playwright, Tarell Alvin McCraney. In 2009 Miller starred in McCraney's trilogy as 'Marcus' in "Marcus, or the Secret of Sweet," "The Brothers Size," and "In the Red and Brown Water."

Miller currently resides in California with his wife, Actress & producing partner DeWanda Wise.
