The X Factor knows how to create drama. From the blast of 'O Fortuna' as Simon Cowell and his buddies enter the stage, to former voiceover man Peter Dickson hamming it up, they've got the atmosphere nailed.
One of the most exciting elements of the show will always be the big Sunday night eliminations, especially if the dreaded Deadlock comes into play. Most of the time, the judges get it right, but sometimes there are downright shocks. Here are the biggest to date, brought to you in association with TalkTalk's new Bopheads app:
1. Laura White (series 5)
Wigan lass Laura was tipped for X Factor success in 2008's early stages, but found herself in a tough girls group with the public's favourite indie fairy Diana Vickers and future victor Alexandra Burke. Even so, no-one expected her to leave as early as the fifth week, especially with Ricky Gervais lookalike Daniel Evans still knocking around.

Eurovision Song Contest voters from the UK ranked Poland's performance as the best.
The Polish entry saw Donatan & Cleo belt out sexually suggestive lyrics, including "shaking what your mama gave you", while backing dancers washed clothes and churned butter in low-cut dresses.
In contrast, 'My Słowianie' ended up bottom with the UK jury, according to Eurovision's results page. With Eurovision voting split evenly between the jury and the public, Poland had a combined rank of 11 - just outside of the points-scoring positions.
The Netherlands' The Common Linnets came second with the UK public, but a jury ranking of 7 meant that it ended up third, behind Austria (third with the public and jury) and Malta (fifth and first with the public and jury respectively).
Iceland was fourth in the public vote, with Denmark, Greece and Sweden following.
Meanwhile, the jury ranked Finland in second place behind Malta, with Spain and Sweden in fourth and fifth respectively.

Ruth Lorenzo is about to release her debut single in Spain.
The 27 year old singer came fifth in the fifth series of The X Factor in 2008 and ‘Burn’ from her debut album ‘The Raspberry Pattern’ is available to download from Spanish iTunes from today.
Although Ruth did sign a deal with record label Emi on leaving the ITV show, she left them after a year and is now striking out on her own.
She previously told Unreality TV:
Emi were in a complicated situation anyway, business and financially. So they weren’t really coming to a path. Everybody was everywhere and I needed a bit of direction. I needed people to follow direction and to go with me where I wanted to go and everybody was just lost. So I left.

Ruth Lorenzo has admitted that she sees something special in X Factor finalist Rebecca Ferguson.
Lorenzo shot to fame on the fifth series of the British TV talent show in 2008 and is probably most memorable as the stunning Spanish girl who shocked the judges with her rendition of Prince’s Purple Rain.
In an exclusive interview with Unreality TV, Ruth shared her thoughts on this year’s contestants and admitted that she is drawn to Rebecca’s ‘Angel Eyes.’
She said:

When asked if the Liverpool mum of two could sell music after the show, Ruth added:

X Factor judge Cheryl Cole has promised to put some extra effort into choosing Treyc Cohen’s song this week.
The ‘Promise This’ singer turned Treyc into a bit of a rock chick last Saturday and had her sing the classic Led Zeppelin track ‘Whole Lotta Love’. However, despite rave reviews from the judging panel, Cohen still ended up in the bottom two last night.
A caller on The Xtra Factor suggested that Treyc may be better suited to big diva numbers and Cheryl replied:
“When the theme [Guilty Pleasures] came up, we chose something that was out of her comfort zone.
“I thought she rocked it out. But that’s what this show’s about and it’s decided by the public. Next week maybe we’ll go back more to her genre.”

Ramena Farahi was seen wowing the judges on Sunday night’s X Factor, but it has emerged that the singer has inside links with the show.
The 17 year old from Liverpool has appeared as a backing singer on both The X Factor and Britain’s Got Talent, performing behind Diana Vickers, Diversity, Stavros Flatley, Ruth Lorenzo and Journey South.
At her own Manchester audition for Simon Cowell, Louis Walsh and guest judge Nicole Scherzinger, Farahi impressed the panel by singing Dusty Springfield’s I Needed You.
Simon told her: “That was absolutely on the money.” And Louis Walsh called her “amazing”.
A source told The Sun: “There are no rules saying you can’t know former contestants.
“Hopefully all the experience will help her.”

Alexandra Burke has sparked rumours that she may be acting as a stand in judge on this series of The X Factor.
Burke, who won the show in 2008, has previously admitted that she’d love to return as a judge or a mentor and now that regular panelist Dannii Minogue is on maternity leave, the time could be perfect for the star.
Speaking to Metro, Burke commented: “I’d love to be a judge on The X Factor. I would really love to. But I can’t really comment on that.
“It would be great. I love the show. But I’m not sure what’s going to happen. It’s up to Simon [Cowell] at the end of the day. It’s all in the future.”
Simon Cowell has already recruited stars such as Geri Halliwell, who judged the Glasgow auditions, Natalie Imbruglia, who stood in on the Birmingham rounds.

Ruth Lorenzo has become the eighth act to be eliminated from The X Factor. The Spanish singer missed out on a place in the semi-final after performing 'I Love Rock 'n Roll' and Bon Jovi's 'Always' in a night which saw the final five tackling Britney Spears hits and American classics.
