For many, Gigi Perez seemed to burst out of thin air last year. Her independently released single “Sailor Song” became a hit on TikTok, enamoring listeners with the swooning timelessness of the folksy tune, before climbing to Number One in the UK, Ireland, and Latvia.
But like many of her peers, the 25-year-old’s career path wasn’t as simple as having a viral hit launching her into mainstream success. Years of grief and feelings of shame and failure have been poured into her debut album At The Beach, In Every Life,...

With its macabre one-liners, revolving door of guest stars, and endless imagined homicides, "CSI" is one of the most recognizable network TV franchises of all time. Yet, despite well over a decade of success and extensive rerun appeal, the Anthony Zuiker-created property actually went off the air for a five year period. In 2016, the last "CSI" show that was still going, "CSI: Cyber," bowed out after just two seasons, and the TV world of the crime saga that began at the turn of the millennium went temporarily dark.
Like so many procedurals before it, "CSI" did eventually come back, offering up the Paula Newsome and Matt Lauria-led "CSI: Vegas" in 2021. That series returned to the show's trend of focusing on a different city (past hits have included "CSI: New York" and the infamously punny "CSI: Miami"), but it wasn't enough to save it. "Vegas" was canceled in 2024 after three seasons,...

Hayley Kiyoko will make her directorial debut with an adaptation of her own book (itself based on her hit single), Girls Like Girls.
One of Hayley Kiyoko’s first starring roles was as Velma in a series of straight to DVD Scooby Doo films from 2009 to 2011. She also had a very successful stint on the Disney Channel, appearing in Wizards Of Waverly Place and playing one of the main characters in arguably one of the best Disney Channel Original Movies, Lemonade Mouth, in which she also sang and played guitar. This led to Kiyoko releasing several albums, and that builds us towards this particular story.
One of the most successful singles was Girls Like Girls. The music video went viral in 2015, it depicted a friendship between two girls that developed into romance. She then adapted the story of the song into a young adult novel, which was published in 2023.

Despite receiving mixed-to-negative reviews, the live-action Scooby-Doo movies remain beloved among fans of the Mystery Inc. gang. A threequel appears to be off the table, but Variety (via Toonado.com) is reporting that a new live-action TV series is in the works and heading to Netflix.
No plot details have been revealed, but the one-hour drama project is nearing a deal at the streamer with a script-to-series commitment. Based on the classic Hanna-Barbera cartoon of the same name, Warner Bros. Television is producing the project with Josh Appelbaum and Scott Rosenberg (Cowboy Bepop) serving as writers and executive producers.
André Nemec and Jeff Pinkner will also executive produce under their Midnight Radio banner, while Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter, and Leigh London Redman will take on the same role through Berlanti Productions.

Scooby Doo and the Mystery Inc gang are heading back to the small screen in a live action series for Netflix, here are the details.
Jinkies: Netflix has ordered a live action Scooby Doo television series. No casting details have been confirmed, but we do know (thanks to a Deadline report) that it will be written by Josh Appelbaum and Scott Rosenberg – the same Scott Rosenberg who penned Con Air, one of the greatest action films of the 1990s.
This isn’t, of course, the first time Hanna Barbera’s cartoon has been reworked in live-action. Long before James Gunn took creative control of the DC Extended Universe, he was a prolific screenwriter, and arguably his most successful films, at the box office at least, were 2002’s Scooby Doo and 2004’s Scooby Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed.
The films brought the classic cartoon to life with a pitch perfect cast – Matthew Lillard...

Mystery Inc. rides again! Variety is reporting that the long-running "Scooby-Doo" franchise may be making a leap back to the live-action world, this time courtesy of Netflix. Sources tell the outlet that, unlike past versions of the Hanna-Barbera-created franchise, the new series won't be a comedic mystery but a one-hour drama series. Warner Bros. Television, which has been responsible for other dark teen-centric Netflix shows like "Chilling Adventures of Sabrina" and "Dead Boy Detectives," is set to produce.
Though the deal apparently isn't set in stone yet, the untitled "Scooby-Doo" live-action project is apparently in talks to receive a script-to-series commitment, with the team from Arrowverse maestro Greg Berlanti's Berlanti Productions (which also helped bring the two above titles to life) set to produce. The CSI: Crime Scene Investigation franchise remains a juggernaut of the television world with the spinoff, CSI: Vegas, returning for a third season later this year. After over two decades of CSI, including the original series and four spinoffs, the franchise is one of the most important and well-recognized in the incredibly oversaturated police procedural genre. As such, the franchise is very highly regarded within the genre of television procedurals.
With five series to the franchise, including CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, CSI: Miami, CSI: NY, CSI: Cyber, and CSI: Vegas, there are over 800 episodes of the franchise and counting, amounting to over 600 hours of content. However, not every CSI series is created equal according to users on the International Movie Database, who have ranked each according to the site's ten-star rating system, which clearly puts some entries over others.

The CSI franchise has had massive success with over 800 episodes and some of the highest ratings in police procedural history. CSI: Cyber suffered from poor writing and forgettable characters, leading to its cancellation after two seasons. CSI: Vegas has received praise for recapturing the magic of CSI: Crime Scene Investigation while innovating in clever ways.
Debuting in the year 2000, the CSI franchise has experienced massive success across multiple shows, but despite the series' accomplishments, some entries are remembered more fondly than others. CSI: Crime Scene Investigation's success led to the introduction of four spin-off shows, each being noted for its unique feel, characters, and approaches to the police procedural TV genre. Additionally, CSI's crossover episodes have helped keep things feeling consistent and grounded while also expanding the series' lore through memorable interactions between each show's cast. However, this unique approach to the police procedural hasn't prevented the CSI franchise...

The premiere of Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour was the kind of glimmery spectacle only a superstar like Swift can create. From Swifties exchanging friendship bracelets with Taylor’s mom Andrea (by “Swifties,” we mean the writer typing this) to Beyoncé, yes, Beyoncé, posing for photos with Taylor on the red carpet, Thursday’s event proved to be nearly as magical as any of the Swift’s tour stops.

Seligman spoke about the challenge of getting Bottoms out to fans with Vulture Magazine. Maren Morris shares how the music industry and beyond can help fight back against bigotry on the LGBTQ+ community.
The country star and outspoken advocate for queer and trans people interviews drag’s biggest stars for Billboard‘s annual Pride issue, highlighting why it’s essential to speak up for the drag and wider LGBTQ communities during a time where anti-lgbtq+ legislation is currently sweeping the U.S., especially in states like Florida and Tennessee. So-called “drag bans” are quickly capturing national attention with states prohibiting public performances or shows in the presence of minors, ultimately threatening the livelihood and artistic freedom of drags.

Hayley Kiyoko will continue to use her platform for good.
Earlier this month, the singer ignored police to bring drag queens out at her concert in Nashville, Tennessee, with her talking further about her decision in an interview with Et Canada’s Dallas Dixon.
Kiyoko, who has been dating “Bachelor” star Becca Tilley for five years — told Dixon of how important it is for her to use her voice in that way: “It’s extremely important. I think it’s in our human nature to show up for one another and to show up and know the difference between right and wrong. And, you know, it’s really unfortunate that in the US of A, we are trying to scare people and silence people through fear. And it’s not okay.
“And we won’t stop until we’re all able to be our true authentic selves and feel safe to do so.
