Orlin Dobreff was born in Bulgaria, in Eastern Europe. He always dreamed of moving to America. In 1988, he graduated from high school and entered the Bulgarian Army. He served for two years, rising in rank from a 3rd Class Private to a Lieutenant, and spent the latter part of his term of duty serving in the Special Forces guarding the Bulgarian/Turkish border. Upon graduating with honors from the military, Orlin spent three years attending Hristo Botev College in Shumen before emigrating to Montreal, Canada in 1993. He moved to Hollywood, when he had been offered a position on the first season of the TV series CSI: Crime Scene Investigation. Orlin started as a production assistant on the show in February 2001, and quickly moved up the ranks to become the executive assistant to the creator of the show, Anthony E. Zuiker. Orlin stayed with Anthony, and eventually became his business partner and a good friend. Throughout Anthony's tenure as co-showrunner of CSI, Orlin continued to work alongside him as he went on to create CSI: Miami in 2002, CSI: New York in 2004 and CSI: Cyber in 2015. When Anthony started his own production company called Dare to Pass in 2008, Orlin was appointed as the Vice President of the company.
