Emily Atack is being praised by critics for her “provocative” new BBC documentary tackling sexual harassment.
In Emily Atack: Asking For It?,the former Inbetweeners star discusses her own experiences of sexual harassment and sets out to learn how something “so grotesque, aggressive, malicious and violent” has evolved.
During the programme, she shared a number of misogynist social media messages she has received, including rape threats, in an attempt to understand how abuse has been normalised online.
She also spoke to a sexual violence and abuse councillor and online safety campaigners, as she asked why harassment has been normalised for so long.
TV critics praised the 33-year-old for asking important questions and doing a “very brave job” on a difficult subject.
“Emily Atack, normally seen as a cheerful TV personality and comedian, did a very brave job here in overcoming deep embarrassment about her daily reality,” read The Times’ review.

The Masked Singer has unveiled yet another celebrity hiding underneath an extravagant costume.
On Saturday (28 January), Pigeon was revealed to be Katherine Ryan.
The comedian and actor gave a total of three performances in the bird disguise, styled with a cardigan, pearls and a handbag with cats printed on the outside.
Ultimately, the judging panel chose not to keep her in the competition on the latest episode after her rendition of the Cheryl hit, “Fight For This Love”.
Before the unmasking, guesses for Pigeon’s identity included Emily Atack, Gemma Collins and Stacey Solomon.
When Ryan eventually revealed herself, the audience and the judging panel applauded and appeared shocked.
“That accent was so good!” said a stunned Davina McCall, referring to the Canadian comic’s use of a Cockney accent to disguise her own voice.
Discussing the inclusion of a cauliflower and mint sauce in her video package, Ryan said:...

Following the aftermath of a horrific accident, Chloe (Alexys Gabrielle) voluntarily submits herself to experimental treatment to both help her recover her lost memories and recover emotionally from the accident. The treatment is progressive – for Chloe must spend time in a house packed with the latest in artificial intelligence, Artificially Intelligent Domestic Assistant or Aida for short (voiced by Emily Atack); a home automation system that acts as an AI nurse, tracking and caring for Chloe through every stage of her rehabilitation.
But then this film is called Dark Cloud isn’t it? Which can only mean one thing. Something is going to go wrong with Chloe’s treatment. Right? Right. After all, AI has been the source of all things evil since Stanley Kubrick’s 2001. Speaking of which,...

On Friday December 10th, there’s a reminder of just what a hellish time of year this is for those working in the retail trade, as Bruce Campbell and Devon Sawa find themselves confronted by hordes of demented bargain hunting shoppers possessed by alien parasites in Casey Tebo’s riotously funny splatter satire Black Friday. There’s no denying that “Patrick” is absolutely adorable. When a story revolves around a four-legged furry friend — a squishy, huggable pug, at that — that much is to be expected. However, what makes director Mandie Fletcher’s canine-centered romantic comedy work is its ability to engage in between the oh-so-cute closeups of the bug-eyed pup. Though the narrative tends to be a touch too simplistic for most grown-ups, and lacks enough riotous dog action for the little ones, there’s enough bite to make things worthwhile for those who just want to enjoy a sweet, wholesome dog movie.
Sarah’s (Beattie Edmondson) life is in shambles. Her boyfriend has just left her stranded in a new apartment without knowing a soul in the neighborhood. Her entire family thinks she’s turning into a spinster since all her romantic relationships end in woe. She’s depressed and questioning what love has in store for her.

"What was granny thinking? I don't like dogs!" Screen Media has released an official Us trailer for an indie comedy titled Patrick, about a spoiled pug named Patrick who gets bequeathed to a young woman who is having some romantic troubles in her British life. As expected, the goofball pup provides some good laughs and plenty of pain, but he also helps her get back on track - with falling in love. This already opened in the UK last year, and we featured the UK trailer previously. Beattie Edmondson stars as Sarah, and the cast includes Ed Skrein, Emilia Jones, Jennifer Saunders, Meera Syal, Gemma Jones, Emily Atack, and Peter Davison. This looks super cute and kitschy, and perhaps just the perfect amount of campiness. Here's the new official Us trailer (+ poster) for Mandie Fletcher's Patrick, in high def on Apple: You can still watch the original UK...

How I Met Your Mother stalwart Cobie Smulders has enjoyed a string of exciting roles since CBS’ hit sitcom bowed off the airwaves three years ago – and that streak shows no signs of slowing down anytime soon.
Variety is reporting that Smulders, who impressed opposite Tom Cruise in the action sequel Jack Reacher: Never Go Back, has signed on for Songbird, a new British comedy from writer-director Jamie Adams. Marking his fourth effort as director, we understand Adams has now welcomed Smudlers in the role of Joanne Sykes, the former frontwoman of a once-popular indie rock band called The Filthy Dukes. Despite an exciting ’90s breakout, The Filthy Dukes are in the midst of a dramatic comedown. Ditto for Joanne, whose life begins to unravel after she discovers that her long-time boyfriend has been cheating on her with, well, “just about everyone.”
The preliminary plot synopsis reads as so:

Tagline: "His Collection is Almost Complete." *there are spoilers here. Director: Matt Winn. Writers: James Handel, Matt Winn and Chris Denne. Cast: Mischa Barton, Robert Knepper, Valene Kane, Charlotte Salt and Emily Atack. The Hoarder joins a growing collection of horror films set in a storage facility. From Storage (2009) to Self Storage (2013), this setting keeps production costs down and the characters trapped with the confines of a warehouse. This time, the characters are trapped like rats; but, something is trapped inside with them. A caged hamster symbolizes the characters' upcoming predicament. Meanwhile, the characters are so flawed by various vices that they are unable to help themselves or the others to escape. This makes the villain's murderous tasks that much easier. As well, The Hoarder offers a late social message on letting the past go. However, this message is acknowledged much too late by the protagonist; she is too busy covering up her indiscretions.

It’s Kyle’s stag night. He’s with his best friend and best man Jarvis. Large amounts of alcohol are consumed. What could possibly go wrong? After a trip to a brothel… sorry, “Massage parlour”, Kyle finds himself in an awkward situation. He has contracted chlamydia from one of the employees of the fine establishment and now has to not have sex with his fiancée for three months to prevent any possibility of it spreading or worse, her finding out what he has done.
Almost Married is a British romantic comedy starring Philip McGinley as the lead man, Kyle. Filled with crude ‘lad’ humour, Kyle and Jarvis stumble from drunken night to drunken night as they try many different solutions to avoid revealing Kyle’s secret. Steering away from the Working Title school of cosiness is a start, but this bawdy Std comedy isn't terribly funny either
To give Almost Married its credit, it's not afraid to offend, and for once we get a British comedy that's set miles from the cosy, middle-class world of the Working Title/Richard Curtis/Nick Hornby breed, where everyone is basically nice. These guys are not nice. The grubby premise is that a young man (Philip McGinley) apparently contracts an Std on his stag night from a prostitute and then has to contrive excuses not to shag his fiance (Emily Atack) or let her know of his infidelity until he gets the all-clear. The humour is bawdy and rude, but unfortunately not terribly funny either, unless you find homophobia, vaginal contact with chilli seeds or fat sex workers hilarious. The actors gurn away like they're auditioning for roles in a Carry On reboot,...
