Emma Julia Jacobs, raised in Holmby Hills, and Cheviot Hills, is an artist, model, actress, and filmmaker. Envisioning her own films, and future as an artist, she was grateful for her supportive teachers attending Stephen S. Wise Temple. Her creative work-spanning film, performance, visual art, and writing-is inseparable from her lived experiences as a as a woman, and as a Jew. For Emma, art is not just expression-it's self-love, healing, and survival.
Jacobs is perhaps best known for her emotionally immersive performances in genre films, particularly in horror, where she brings extraordinary realism and nuance to roles depicting trauma, grief, and survival. Her acclaimed scream work has even been used to replace the vocal performances of A-list actors, and she is frequently cast in roles that require profound emotional access. A fluent Hebrew speaker with a background in Krav Maga, firearms training, and multiple accents, she brings authenticity and technical skill to every project she joins.
Her time on Hitchcock (2012) where she worked alongside Sir Anthony Hopkins, Helen Mirren, and James D'Arcy. An experience-marked by grace, historical reverence, and respect for Alma Hitchcock-solidified Emma's love for refined, meaningful filmmaking. Actor James D'Arcy also starred in her film Dreams Never End, and has had lasting relationships with many fellow artists such as Stephanie Paris, James Duval, Edgar Wright, James Wan, Sam Raimi, and Jen & Michael Biehn, are a testament to the trusted, lasting creative bonds she has cultivated in the industry.
"Doubt", Emma's feature film-is an unflinching, semi-autobiographical depiction of violence, rape-culture, CPTSD, and survival. With raw honesty, she reveals the isolation that comes not only from sexual violence but from a culture that enables it. She has never shied away from calling out injustice in the industry, even when doing so resulted in blacklisting and abandonment by colleagues and communities she once trusted. Her stance remains unwavering: "Victims deserve protection and justice-not exile. I will always speak the truth, no matter the cost."
She has received awards for acting, writing, directing, and makeup FX work, and continues to create both personal and public-facing projects. In addition to her acting work in From Hell She Rises-a tribute to Hammer Horror heroines-Emma has earned comparisons to Ursula Andress, Ingrid Pitt, and Britt Ekland, who calls her "twin." She also appeared in Ruby Sparks, Black Swan, the latter is especially dear to her, for its cinematic excellence, for the personal growth and artistic kinship on set. Emma was part of the Academy Award-winning makeup team behind the film.
It was clear to others, Emma has been a deeply self-taught artist and thinker from a very young age, even known to some as "the girl with the million-dollar mind," always writing, inventing, and questioning. She has said, "Painting, writing, acting... they're like eating, sleeping, and breathing for me. They're all part of the same body-one art feeds the next.". Her Jewish identity has always been an indelible part of her life. As signified in her film "Doubt", being a Jew is part of her very foundation. She's been known to express her gratitude for her support and nurturing by her temple, rabbis, and the Jewish community, as a whole. "Judaism saved my life". She continues to be outspoken of her innate, immeasurable, unshakable Jewish identity. "I am a proud Jew, and no one, no matter how hard they try, could ever strip that from me."
Emma's current mission is to abide by her purpose and passions, producing films on her terms, and to amplify the voices of other women and girls.. "I want to be who I needed," she says. "To help others find their voice, their power, and their creative truth."
She now lives with her rescue rabbits in an undisclosed location, having chosen to reside in a safer, nurturing, and more peaceful community, and of course, always creating.
