Amirah Vann is an Afro-Latina actress from Far Rockaway, NY best known for her role as Tegan Price in ABC's How To Get Away With Murder. A new medical drama for Fox, DOC, has announced Amirah as a series regular in the role of neuropsychiatrist, Dr. Gina Walker.
Born to a Puerto Rican mother and African-American father, Amirah grew up speaking both English and Spanish. Growing up in New York, she fell in love with the arts and went on to receive a BFA in Acting from Fordham University and her MFA from the NYU Tisch graduate acting program.
Most recently she was seen starring as Diahann Carroll in Shirley. As well as in Tyler Perry's A Jazzman's Blues where Vann's soulful singing voice, and nuanced performance as Hattie Mae earned her critical praise from The New York Times, The Los Angeles Times and TIME, among others. Amirah is also known for her roles in The Changeling, Underground, Queen Sugar, unsolved, Star Trek: Picard, Tracers, Miss Virginia, and as the voice of Sevika in Netflix's Emmy-winning action-adventure animated series Arcane, among many others.
Stage credits include numerous regional theatre performances by playwrights Christopher Durang, Katori Hall, Dominique Morisseau, Shakespeare among others.
