In the "Rick and Morty" episode "Meeseeks and Destroy" -- a fan favorite, although maybe not one of the best -- Rick reveals a miraculous widget called the Meeseeks Box, a device that can manifest a helpful blue alien named Mr. Meeseeks. The eager extra-terrestrial serves as a temporary personal helper, tasked with aiding their summoner in a single, simple task. Once the task has been completed, Mr. Meeseeks breathes a sigh of relief and promptly ceases to exist.
When given the Meeseeks Box, Summer (Spencer Grammer) asks that Mr. Meeseeks help her become more popular at school, and the alien delivers an inspiring speech. Beth (Sarah Chalke) asks that she be made a "more complete woman," and Mr. Meeseeks takes her on a date and says encouraging things. But Jerry (Chris Parnell) asks that Mr. Meeseeks help him improve his golf game, which sounds innocuous enough on the surface.

When J.J. Abrams wrote and directed this film, Steven Spielberg saw an opportunity he couldn’t refuse. “Super 8” is a modern-day re-telling of E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial (1982) without the tale of friendship between the boy and his alien friend. Set almost 30 years apart, both films have their own problems to deal with. The modern-day “E.T. home phone” would’ve not worked had it not been for the complexity of the retelling. The film is era and politics-appropriate.
Even though the film is based around the late 1970s, the Soviet threat always loomed large for the USA. The biggest imagined opposition that the USA always had was the Soviets. This trend did not die down with the collapse of the Soviet Union. Part of being a democratic process or slight transgressions towards autocratic democracy, there’s always the need for the threat of an invisible enemy. This political anxiety...

The horror genre is commonly associated with autumn because of Halloween. October is a month to dress up, go trick-or-treating, and indulge in fun scares, so horror movies are a perfect addition to the Halloween traditions. Horror buffs will argue that horror movies are a year-round event, though. While iconic films like Halloween (1978) and Trick 'r Treat (2007) do revolve around Halloween, the horror genre has invaded just about every holiday imaginable.
From Valentine's Day to Easter to Christmas, no holiday is as safe as its wholesome festivities might suggest. My Bloody Valentine (1981), Holidays (2016), Leprechaun (1993), and even Jaws (1975) all tell stories that are about or take place on a specific holiday. When it comes to holiday horror movies, the holiday season is, by far, the most saturated. These movies are perfect for streaming on a chilly winter night during the holiday break.

Released by a train crash, a mysterious creature rampages through a small Ohio town. The military is on its trail, the local authorities are overwhelmed, and a group of local kids… who planned to spend their summer making a zombie movie… take it upon themselves to figure out what’s going on. That’s the set-up for director J.J. Abrams’ 2011 film Super 8 (watch it Here) – and it’s time for it to be Revisited.
Like many aspiring filmmakers, J.J. Abrams started making movies at a young age, casting his friends and shooting on Super 8 film. As a teenager, he was able to participate in a young filmmakers’ festival in Los Angeles. Newspaper coverage of that festival caught the attention of one of Abrams’ heroes, another director who had gotten started making Super 8 movies when he was young: Steven Spielberg. J.J. Abrams' career has been negatively impacted by his struggles with Star Wars and DC. Despite his achievements in major franchises and TV hits, Abrams' capabilities as a leader were questioned due to creative changes in Star Wars. Abrams should focus on more original stories like his successful sci-fi movie Super 8, which showcased his talent and should serve as a blueprint for future projects.
J.J. Abrams' time linked to Star Wars and DC properties may have gone poorly, but the filmmaker has a sci-fi movie from 2011 that could serve as a blueprint for future successes. Despite being around since the '90s, Abrams didn't make his directorial debut until 2006, when he was at the helm of Mission: Impossible III. His biggest success as a director came with his next project, 2009's Star Trek, which also remains his most well-received movie with him in the director's chair. Even...

In the Oni Press comic book miniseries, a Mr. Meeseeks from the show becomes a supervillain, leading to cosmic in-canon repercussions. Rick's "Time Travel Stuff" box is actually a trap, filled with bomb-making materials, adding in-canon significance to an ongoing meta-joke. The opening of every episode where Rick and Morty flee from a pursuing Cthulhu reveals that the baby in the cabin actually belongs to Morty.
Rick and Morty is a series that has transcended the original Adult Swim animated show. From anime to comic books, Rick and Morty lore continues to deepen and expand in increasingly interesting ways. This means that if someone just watches the cartoon, they’re only getting a fraction of the story.
While it’s true that many of the offshoot Rick and Morty stories presented in comics and the anime specials don’t impact the Rick and Morty of C-137, that’s not always the case.

Rick and Morty introduces a new and improved team of superheroes in a comic book adventure, called The League of Really Cool Intellectual Properties. The comic book team, consisting of characters like Red Flag and Yk-132, parodies iconic superheroes and crime-fighting groups, paying homage to the genre. The new team goes through brutal tryouts, turning them into hardened warriors, but like their predecessors, they are quickly killed off, leaving fans wanting to see more. A sequel could potentially revive all Vindicators.
Rick and Morty has introduced a lot of characters in its almost seven seasons of content, with the super-powered team of the Vindicators once bringing some much-needed comic book flair to a show already chock-full of more zany ideas and cosmic concepts than fans can sometimes follow. And now, in an epic Rick and Morty comic book adventure, the Vindicators live on in a new and improved team that...

Rick and Morty hilariously mocks Hawkeye's role in the Avengers, highlighting his lack of usefulness in comparison to other superheroes. The comic points out that wielding a bow and arrow in a superhero battle is impractical and ineffective, further emphasizing Hawkeye's shortcomings. Rick and Morty's criticism highlights the larger point that a hero skilled in archery is ill-equipped to handle the weight of saving the world compared to super-powered individuals.
Rick and Morty has never been shy about criticizing the Avengers, the entire MCU, and even the wider superhero genre as a whole, yet one insult was more blatant than most others, as it specifically called out one MCU Avenger in the best way.
The original Avengers in the MCU were Captain America, Iron Man, Black Widow, Hawkeye, Hulk, and Thor. As outlined in their debut film, each Avenger brought their own flair to the team in a way that no one else could.

Noob-Noob, a beloved side character from Rick and Morty, died in a comic book event and will never be seen again on the TV show. The comic book event, titled "Crisis on C-137," takes place within the continuity of the animated series, making Noob-Noob's death permanent. While deaths can be retconned in a fictional universe like Rick and Morty, it doesn't seem likely that Noob-Noob will return for future episodes due to the tragic events of the comic.
Rick and Morty has introduced a great number of increasingly loveable and iconic side characters including Mr. Poopybutthole, Mr. Nimbus, and - of course - Birdperson. While every one of these examples could return in future Rick and Morty adventures, there’s one beloved side character from the TV show who actually died off-screen, and will sadly never be seen again: Noob-Noob.

Warning! This article contains spoilers for Rick and Morty: Crisis on C-137 #4Arguably the most iconic episode of Rick and Morty is the one that featured Mr. Meeseeks for the first time in the series, and one comic reveals that this episode-in-question actually has a secret ending T.V. fans didn’t get to see.
Rick and Morty introduced Mr. Meeseeks in the season 1 episode, “Meeseeks and Destroy”. In the episode, Rick and Morty are going off on a fantasy adventure of Morty’s choosing, so Rick gives the other three members of the Smith family a Meeseeks Box. Exclusive: Comic book and graphic novel publisher Idw has unveiled nine new original comic book projects set for release beginning in July as part of a new initiative. While the focus is on creating new comic book IP, following publishing of the comics, the Idw Entertainment Group will work to potentially develop the IP for film, television and other entertainment mediums the way the company has done in the past with such titles as Wynonna Earp and Locke & Key.
Reflecting genres including crime thriller, supernatural horror, science fiction and epic fantasy, the projects hail from New York Times bestselling authors, top industry artists and writers, as well as newcomers, including Scott Snyder, G. Willow Wilson and Stephen Graham Jones, among others. Additionally, Idw has additional projects underway for 2023 and beyond, including a comic book series by Academy Award–winning director, screenwriter, novelist, and showrunner John Ridley and several original graphic novels aimed at middle grade and YA audiences.
Beginning with Scott Snyder’s Dark Spaces: Wildfire in July (see details below), Idw will be publishing the projects monthly.
“A year ago we gave ourselves a mission: to make Idw the destination for premier talent and rising stars,” says Mark Doyle, editorial director of Originals. “This is an unprecedented moment in Idw’s history, and there’s been a tremendous team effort from our creative and editorial teams and everyone at the company to develop a stellar slate of original stories—and we’re having a blast doing it!”
Here is a trailer for Idw’s new initiative:
“Throughout our history, Idw has provided a supportive environment for passionate creators to pursue their artistic vision, taking form as such beloved titles as 30 Days of Night, Locke & Key, V Wars, Canto, October Faction, and Wynonna Earp, just to name a few,” says publisher Nachie Marsham. “Our new Originals editorial division, spearheaded by Mark Doyle, reflects our commitment to building upon that legacy. More than ever before, we are reaching out to the creative community, welcoming fresh ideas that span a diverse range of genres, and offering audiences wild new worlds to explore.”
The first nine projects are:
Dark Spaces: Wildfire, a thriller series written by Scott Snyder with art by Hayden Sherman, follows a group of female inmate firefighters deep into the smoldering California hills, where their desperate heist of a burning mansion will lead them to the score of a lifetime…or a deadly trap!
Trve Kvlt, a five-issue miniseries written by Scott Bryan Wilson with art by Liana Kangas, introduces Marty Tarantella, a down-on-his-luck loser whose last-ditch scheme to escape a lifetime of fast-food service sets him on a collision course with a cult of violent, Devil-worshiping lunatics!
Crashing, a five-issue miniseries written by Matthew Klein with art by Morgan Beem, throws open the doors of an emergency room filled with casualties of a superhuman war, where Rose Osler, a doctor on her own path of addiction and recovery, faces the most dangerous day of her medical career.
Earthdivers, an ongoing series written by Stephen Graham Jones with art by Davide Gianfelice, unites four Indigenous survivors in an apocalyptic near future as they embark on a bloody, one-way mission to save the world by traveling back in time to kill Christopher Columbus and prevent the creation of America.
Dead Seas, a six-issue miniseries written by Cavan Scott with art by Nick Brokenshire, transforms a cynical convict into a reluctant hero when he’s trapped on a sinking prison ship swarming with ghosts. Can he unite desperate criminals, pirates, and brutal guards as they try to escape a watery grave?
Golgotha Motor Mountain, a five-issue miniseries written by Matthew Erman and Lonnie Nadler with art by Ryan Lee, is a high-octane, redneck motor massacre about two meth-cooking brothers and their attempt to make it home in one piece as all manner of cosmic alien horrors are hot on their trail.
Arca, an original graphic novel written by Van Jensen with art by Jesse Lonergan, leaves a dying Earth behind as billionaires establish a luxurious new society out among the stars, tended to by teenage indentured servants. But one girl discovers that the good life promised for their years of servitude was a lie…
The Sin Bin, a six-issue miniseries written by Robbie Thompson with art by Molly Murakami, hits the road with washed-up hockey player Dale “Dukes” Duquesne, who moonlights as a monster hunter during away games with his daughter, Cat, in tow, hoping to find her mother’s killer.
The Hunger and the Dusk, a twelve-issue storyline written by G. Willow Wilson with art by Chris Wildgoose, upends an age-old conflict between humans and orcs by introducing a new, deadlier species. Fragile alliances form—and unexpected romances blossom—as former enemies wade into battle together to save their two races.

Black Friday, every retail worker’s nightmare. We’ve all seen the memes comparing the mall zombies from Dawn of the Dead to shoppers pressed up against the doors, waiting for their chance to maim each other over a cheap TV set. And now, thanks to director Casey Tebo (Happy Birthday) and writer Andy Greskoviak, that meme has come full circle and inspired its own movie. Is it one worth lining up to get, or something to grab from the post-Christmas clearance rack?
It’s Black Friday, which as you probably know, has managed to creep up and possess Thanksgiving as well. This leaves Ken dropping his reluctant kids off at their grandparents as he heads in for his shift at We Love Toys. But at least he...

On Halloween we celebrate creepy things. On Christmas we celebrate Christian beliefs, or family and togetherness. In between, on Black Friday, we celebrate capitalism – or at least, that seems to be the idea. It’s the world’s most painfully artificial party, but some people still go crazy over it. Those who really find it hard going, of course, are the unfortunate retail staff who have to cope with the rush.

"There is something wrong with the shoppers!" Screen Media Films has released the official trailer for a horror comedy titled Black Friday, set at a big toy store on Thanksgiving night just before the opening of Black Friday at midnight. And guess who's back at S-Mart! I mean, at "We Love Toys" - Bruce Campbell! Sporting a mighty fine gray mustache in this film (which makes him look like John Cleese in a few of the shots). Story manager Jonathan and his longtime employee Ken soon find them themselves battling against hordes of holiday shoppers that have been turned into monstrous creatures taken over by a parasite hellbent on a murderous rampage. The comedy stars Devon Sawa, Ivana Baquero, Ryan Lee, Stephen Peck, Michael Jai White, plus the one-and-only Bruce Campbell. This isn't the most original concept, but it does look quite fun anyway. The zombie people look mean, the kills look ridiculous and amusing.

Up in the corner of every Idw cover, the corporate brand image has been temporarily modified to help celebrate the company’s (impressive) 20 years in business. The iconic Idw lightbulb icon implies a level of creativity and fresh ideas. And their new comic Mountainhead lives up to that – it’s fresh, different and gripping.
This series starts out telling the story of the Stubbs family – a father and son team who are always on the run and living off the grid. They break into houses and burglarize them. It’s not quite as straightforward as all that, though. One key tenet of their modus operandi is to not get sucked into the never-ending messaging of our consumer-focused society. The father reminds the son, Abraham, during a break-in, that “it’s all just stuff”. Additionally, the father reinforces the concept of not defining oneself by one’s possessions. The hunt for the legendary Bigfoot continues to inspire filmmakers and storytellers and we’ve got a trailer for a new film for you to check out today called Hoax.
The film follows a team who travels “deep into the wilderness after a group of young campers are viciously murdered and linked to Bigfoot. The highly specialized crew search for evidence and fight to survive the powerful beast. If they work together they may live to prove the existence of bigfoot, but what they discover may be more unexpected and dangerous than anything they could have imagined.”
Bigfoot is out for blood, though, and primed to kill anyone who comes after him. The horror film actually looks like it could be pretty brutal. This could end up being a surprisingly good film!

Jack Black has been absent from all of the marketing for Goosebumps 2: Haunted Halloween until now. I lot of people wondered if he was even going to be in the movie. I’m not sure why, but they decided to feature his big return as R.L. Stein in the sequel in this new TV spot. With his new film A House With a Clock In Its Walls currently out in theaters, maybe the studio just felt now was the time to make the big reveal of his return.
In the small town of Wardenclyffe on Halloween Night, two boys named Sonny (Jeremy Ray Taylor) and Sam (Caleel Harris) find a manuscript in an abandoned house that was previously owned by R. L. Stine called “Haunted Halloween.” When they open it, they release Slappy (Avery Lee Jones) who plans to create the Halloween Apocalypse with the help of his Halloween monster allies.

I have to admit, Halloween would be pretty freakin’ awesome if a bunch of monsters really came to life to terrorize people. That just sounds like a good time and a fun adventure, and that’s exactly the story that Goosebumps 2: Haunted Halloween will tell. the We’ve got a new trailer to share with you for the movie and if you liked the first one, you’ll most likely enjoy the sequel. It actually looks like it will be a better film. My kids loved the first film, so of course, they are excited about this one. Here’s the synopsis:

R.L. Stine's monsters are unleashed again in this latest trailer for Goosebumps 2: Haunted Halloween and their goal is to make Halloween last forever! Honestly though, that doesn't sound like a bad idea and I'm not sure why anyone would want to stop them from making it happen. But I guess it's just too much for the three young teens who embark on a mission to put a stop to all the fun that the monsters are having. I'd actually enjoy living in a world where Halloween comes to life! I'd even have fun playing with the killer gummy bears!

You didn’t think Sony Pictures would sit back and let Michael Myers have all the fun now, did you?
With Universal’s Halloween reboot already scheduled for October, Sony has conjured up the spectacular first trailer for Goosebumps 2: Haunted Halloween, the Ari Sandel-directed sequel that hopes to mine inspiration from genre heavyweights like It and Netflix phenom Stranger Things.
It’s much lighter in tone, of course – this is one of R.L. Stine’s stories after all – while Haunted Halloween ditches Jack Black’s rendition of the world-famous horror author for a more kid-centric story. And we certainly can’t forget about Slappy (also voiced by Black), who appears to have brought some friends for this year’s spooky spectacular. Long story short: he’s a living ventriloquist dummy from the “Night of the Living Dummy,” and is pictured front and center on the sequel’s official artwork.

Sony Pictures has released the first trailer for Goosebumps 2: Haunted Halloween, which follows a couple of kids who sneak into R.L. Stine old rundown house where, of course, they find a book that no one is supposed to find. They open it and unleash a bunch of monsters from the R.L. Stine novels... again.
If you liked the first movie, you'll probably like the sequel because it pretty much looks like the same formula movie but with different characters.
Cast members for the sequel include Ken Jeong (Crazy Rich Asians), Wendi Mclendon-Covey (Bridesmaids), Chris Parnell (Hot Rod) Madison Iseman, Ben O’Brien, Caleel Harris, Jeremy Ray Taylor (It), and Jack Black as the voice of Slappy. Co-stars Dylan Minnette (13 Reasons Why), Ryan Lee (Super 8) and Odeya Rush (The Giver) from the first movie are expected to return.
The sequel was directed by Ari Sandel from a script...

We reported back in May that the sequel to the 2015 hit Goosebumps will be titled Goosebumps: Horrorland, but that isn't the case anymore. Another report has surfaced which claims the Goosebumps sequel is not entitled Goosebumps: Horrorland, but instead will be called Goosebumps: Slappy's Revenge. This report also claims that production is slated to begin in Atlanta in the first half of 2018. While Sony had been planning a fall 2018 release for this sequel, that seems highly unlikely, with a 2019 debut more plausible.
The original Goosebumps 2 2018 release date was set back in January, but it seems impossible to hit with filming starting next year. While no plot details have been released, when the Horrorland title was revealed, there was speculation that the massive park near where the main characters live could ultimately become this place known as "Horrorland," but that was never confirmed. Regardless, it seems that the studio is now...

Growing up one of my favorite series to read was Goosebumps by R. L. Stine. They had a great variety of stories that always entertained me, in which kids found themselves in scary situations. The original series which was published by Scholastic Publishing and had 62 books that were released from 1992-1997. In October of 1995 Protocol Entertainment with Scholastic Productions produced a television series that ran for three season on the Fox network. The series which was based on the original titles and was the number one rated children's TV show for three years in the Us. Fast forward some twenty years to October of 2015, Sony Pictures released the film Goosebumps starring Jack Black, Dylan Minnette, Odeya Rush and Ryan Lee. In this big screen adaptation, a group of teenagers have to save their town from the monsters of R. L. Stine's stories when they are accidentally set free. Overall the film did pretty good,...
