Richard Whiteside was born on 15 April 1968 in Lower Hutt, New Zealand. He was an actor and producer, known for The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug (2013), Black Sheep (2006) and Players (2012). He died on 11 August 2015 in Lower Hutt, New Zealand.

Trivia
Richard owned and operated a small boutique hotel named 'The Shepherds Arms' which was complete with sheep themed memorabilia including an old stuffed Rams head taking pride of place in the Restaurant. After selling his business he made the move into acting and went on to become a victim of zombie sheep by having his head eaten in the Kiwi cult classic film "Black Sheep"!.
