- Ze'ev Chafets (born 1947) is an Israeli-American-Israeli writer who has established his name in the United States as a political columnist and commentator. Born in 1947 in Michigan, Chafets emigrated to Israel, where he served in the Israeli Defense Force. From 1977 to 1982, he served as the director of Israel's Government Press Office during the Likud Party-led government of Prime Minister Menachem Begin.
Chafets was the original managing editor of the magazine "Jerusalem Report" and had a column in the "New York Daily News" from 2000 to 2004. He has written for the "New York Times Sunday Magazine."
