It is not often that a low-budget thriller gets to subvert expectations simply through basic, plausible plot progression without depending on outlandish twists—which is the reason why Andy Tennant’s Unit 234, starring Isabelle Fuhrman and Don Johnson, can come off as a pleasant surprise. Backed with good performances, the right amount of emotional pull, and proper characterization, Unit 234 is a well-paced thriller that never drags throughout its brief runtime. Starting off with a survival motif, the narrative drops several hints about a change of direction by subverting character tropes, and as a result, the crucial final revelation feels much more organic in nature.

Kevin Costner's Horizon: An American Sagafaces another hurdle that may spell trouble for the Western movie franchise. The passion project by the Oscar-winning filmmaker has had a number of setbacks as of late, especially as Costner has found himself self-financing sequels to the 2024 box office bomb. Now, another development in an ongoing financial dispute between New Line Cinema and the company that produced the Horizon films, which began with Horizon: An American Saga – Chapter 1.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, New Line Cinema has filed an arbitration claim against Horizon Series, the firm founded by Costner to finance the films. Miami Vice icon Don Johnson switches sides and takes on villain duty in this exclusive clip from the upcoming action thriller, Unit 234. The action is the perfect bottleneck movie, all taking place in one location – a storage facility – and finds a young woman working the night shift alone and fighting to survive after she discovers a man imprisoned in the titular unit.
Directed by Andy Tennant and written by Derek Steiner, Unit 234 is led by Isabelle Fuhrman, best known for her role as Esther in Orphan, its prequel Orphan: First Kill, and its upcoming sequel, with the rest of the cast including Jack Huston (Mayfair Witches) as Clayton, the imprisoned man, and Don Johnson as Jules, the leader of the criminal gang that comes to claim him.

One thing I love about my job here at JoBlo is I’m constantly exposed to films that I may have otherwise passed over. And with a very generic poster (which you can see below), it would have been easy to have Unit 234 pass me by. But I’m here to tell you to not make that mistake, as the film is actually a pretty fun little thriller. Check out my review Here!
I spoke with star Isabelle Fuhrman (of the Orphan franchise) and director Andy Tennant about their time on Unit 234. One thing that became very evident is that they really didn’t have a lot of time to make this film, making it all the more impressive what they were able to accomplish.

In 1992, Kevin Costner and Whitney Houston starred in The Bodyguard, a romantic thriller that became a cultural hit. Costner played a former Secret Service agent hired to protect Houston’s character, a global music star facing threats from a stalker.
There was romance, there was drama, there was action, there was everything! The film was a box office success, with Houston’s powerful performance of “I Will Always Love You” becoming iconic.
Costner, naturally, had plans for a sequel, but this time he wanted Princess Diana in the lead! Here’s what happened in detail!

For years, rumors have swirled that Kevin Costner was planning a Bodyguard sequel with none other than Princess Diana in the lead. As wild as it sounds, not all Hollywood gossip is just hot air, and this one was actually confirmed by Costner himself!

Plot: When a group of criminals comes to collect the contents of a storage unit, the woman running the storage facility has to play a game of cat and mouse to escape with her life.
Review: Sometimes movies have to overcome really bad posters in order to get a fair shot. That’s certainly true when it comes to Unit 234, a thriller about a woman who’s stuck in a storage facility and has to escape the criminals who want the contents of a specific unit. But the poster tells me nothing other than it stars, and a dead body on a gurney. What is supposed to intrigue me about that? Especially when the film itself is a fun little thriller with an ending you won’t see coming?

Isabelle Fuhrman didn’t hold back when talking about Horizon, and in doing so, she might’ve just exposed Kevin Costner’s biggest misstep. The Orphan star got real about feeling totally lost on set, admitting she was “in the same boat” as a bunch of confused castmates. That kind of behind-the-scenes chaos says a lot about Costner’s ambitious, multi-part Western.
While the actor-director clearly had a grand vision, it sounds like the execution left some of his own stars scrambling. Fuhrman’s brutally honest take is the kind of red flag Costner probably didn’t want waving this early in Horizon’s rollout.

Kevin Costner's Western film series, Horizon: An American Saga, keeps struggling to find some giddy-up following the mixed reception garnered by Chapter 1 last summer. The latest progress update from one of Chapter 1's stars suggests Chapter 2 is no closer to leaving its pasture than before.
Speaking with Screen Rant,Chapter 1 star Isabelle Fuhrman offered an uncertain Chapter 2 release update, claiming she has "no clue" what's happening with the follow-up or where Horizon goes from here. Though Fuhrman, who stars as Diamond Kittredge in Horizon, is sure Costner is "up to something" with the film, she is as in the dark about it as the fans are. “No, I wish. I'm in the same boat as you," she said. "I really hope that we get to see the second one. I have no clue what Kevin's planning, but he's probably planning something. And, yeah, no, I'm a really big fan of the second film.

Orphan breakout star Isabelle Fuhrman is steadily carving out her place as a modern horror icon. While she's explored a variety of genres, including the romantic drama Wish You Were Here (2025) and Kevin Costner’s epic Western Horizon: An American Saga, horror is quickly becoming the most prominent thread in her career. With her spine-chilling performance in Orphan: First Kill(2022), Fuhrman helped elevate what was once an underappreciated title into a full-fledged horror franchise. She’s set to return as the eerie Esther in the next installment, tentatively titled Orphan 3. The Lionsgate-backed project appears to be gaining momentum, with Fuhrman recently offering a promising update on the anticipated threequel.

Kevin Costner’sHorizon: An American Saga was meant to be a four-part passion project — a sweeping, old-school Western epic told across multiple chapters. But after Chapter 1 sputtered at the box office, the future of Chapter 2 — and the franchise as a whole — is suddenly very unclear. And according to one of the film’s stars, even the cast doesn’t know what’s going on.
In a recent interview with Screen Rant, Unit 234 star Isabelle Fuhrman, who plays Diamond in Horizon, admitted that she has no idea what’s next.

Andy Tennant’s Unit 234 isn’t an ordinary action thriller, as Isabelle Fuhrman’s Laurie finds a man named Clayton (Jack Huston) lying on a gurney and locked inside a storage unit. The film weaves, winds, and takes unexpected turns as Don Johnson’s Jules and his men seek out Clayton at the storage facility, but what do they want with him? It’s best you watch the film to find out for yourself, because no spoilers here! Fortress of Solitude received time to pick Tennant’s brain about Unit 234. The filmmaker – who directed Hitch, Fool’s Gold, The Bounty Hunter, and Anna and the King – revealed how the movie subverts the traditional action thriller genre and the special difference that Fuhrman made behind the scenes when they were shooting in the Cayman Islands. Fortress of Solitude: I really enjoyed the tribute to your filmography as Laurie watches the TV in the office.

Unit 234 imagines a unique scenario. You walk into a storage unit, where there’s a stranger locked to a gurney and he has stitches in the area where his kidney would be. There’s also a group of menacing men in the facility lurking around and trying to get to him – and the leader of the pack has a bad, bloody cough. Your mind races to the natural conclusion: organ harvesting. This is what happens to Isabelle Fuhrman’s Laurie who needs to help Clayton (Jack Huston) avoid the clutches of Don Johnson’s Jules and his men. It also doesn’t help that the weather conditions are terrible, so this action thriller turns into a gripping cat-and-mouse chase – until it doesn’t. Orphan 3 received an update from Esther/Leena star Isabelle Fuhrman. The second movie in Kevin Costner’s massively ambitious, costly, and troubled Western franchise, Horizon, has been waiting in the wings for a release for what seems like a very long time. According to one star of the movie, despite several premieres and tentative dates for its release, the future of Horizon looks bleak and stuck in hostile territory.
Kevin Costner’s future seemed to be incredibly straightforward and certain a few years ago. He was the lead character in the mighty Yellowstone, and then he had this huge, ambitious Western project of his own bubbling away in the background. Then he decided that the movie saga that would become Horizon could not wait any longer, which led to him departing Taylor Sheridan’s hit series under a cloud and Horizon: An American Saga – Chapter 1 hitting theaters in 2024, with the second part expected to follow a couple of months later.

While Kevin Costner had high hopes for Horizon: An American Saga - Chapter 2, its release future remains in doubt. The upcoming Horizon sequel has already been screened to critics at international film festivals, but general audiences have not yet had the chance to see it. The delay stems from Chapter 1's struggles at the box office after it earned under $40 million against a $50 million budget. The sequel was largely completed when the first movie was released, and it was expected to debut just two months later. After the disappointing returns, however,Chapter 2 was indefinitely delayed.
In an interview with ScreenRant's Grant Hermanns about her thriller, Unit 234, Isabelle Fuhrman (Diamond) admitted that she remains unsure of Horizon's future. While she hopes to see an eventual release, Costner has not contacted her about a potential release. Fuhrman is especially interested in the sequel, as it "captures so much more...

It may have been hard to predict back in 2009, but Isabelle Fuhrman's Esther has become something of a horror movie mainstay thanks to the film Orphan and its 2022 prequel, Orphan: First Kill. No doubt making everyone suspicious of "kids," the films have been a bright spot for the horror genre and that's thanks in large part to the performance of Isabelle Fuhrman, who brings the psychopathic Ester to life with relentless glee. Thanks to the success of the first two films, a third installment is on the way and Fuhrman has teased what's to come in the "wilder and crazier" follow-up.

The fact that we received a prequel to the 2009 thriller Orphan in 2022 was mind-boggling – especially since the surprisingly entertaining Orphan: First Kill still starred Isabelle Fuhrman as Leena Klammer / Esther, an adult serial killer from Estonia who is able to pass herself off as a 9 year old kid. Looking 9 was easy for Fuhrman when she made the first movie, because she was a child at the time… but now she’s an adult, and the filmmakers had to try to figure out how to make her look like a kid again for the prequel. It worked well enough, and the movie went over well enough with viewers (you can read our review Here), that we soon started hearing rumblings of an Orphan 3. Last November, Lionsgate officially announced that they had given the new sequel a greenlight – and now, Fuhrman has told our friends at Bloody Disgusting that we can...

Late last year, the trades confirmed that a third Orphan movie had been greenlit, with Lionsgate planning to launch it at the American Film Market. We didn't learn much then, but Variety reported Orphan: First Kill writing and directing team David Coggeshall and William Brent Bell would be returning to helm it. Now we've got a little more information to share from the star, Isabelle Fuhrman herself!

The dramatization of the real-life national news story of Kristine and Michael Barnett adopting Grace, a Ukrainian child orphan with a rare and severe form of dwarfism, has been primarily unfolding in flashback to explore what allegedly happened after the Indiana husband-and-wife adopted Grace in 2010. But each episode opens with a flash-forward that gives even the most unassuming viewer (who hasn’t seen the headlines or watched the ID docuseries The Curious Case of Natalia Grace) hints that there is at least one unreliable narrator telling this story.
The first four episodes have explored the Barnetts’ point of view to explain why they end up being accused of neglect for abandoning Grace. Their adopted daughter was actually an adult...

“Good American Family” creator Katie Robbins knew she wanted to inject as much empathy and humanity as possible when she signed on to turn the story of Natalia Grace into a limited series. The stakes grew considerably when a television legend signed on to star as Natalia’s abusive mother.
Based on a real-life case that previously inspired a hit docuseries, “Good American Family” follows the story of Kristine and Michael Barnett after they adopt Natalia Grace, a 7-year-old girl with dwarfism. But as the new family dynamic begins to go south, the parents start to wonder if they might be getting swindled by someone who is much older than she appears. Ellen Pompeo leads the cast — in her first TV lead role outside of “Grey’s Anatomy” — as matriarch Kristine Barnett. Mark Duplass (“The Morning Show”) plays her husband Michael, and breakout star Imogen Faith Reid embodies Natalia Grace.

Connecticut is one of the smallest, and more anonymous, of the 50 American states. With New York to the west of us and Boston to the east, the Nutmeg State has an unavoidable vibe of being stuck between two actually interesting places. I'm a lifelong Connecticuter, but I can't say we share the same fervor of statewide pride as, say, Texas does.
If we have a statewide reputation, it's for being a (new) haven of rich, sleepy suburbs — so no surprise that many of your favorite actors have settled in Connecticut. We gave Hollywood Katharine Hepburn, Robert Mitchum, Meg Ryan, Paul Giamatti, Seth MacFarlane, and many more. Plus, the stereotypes of the state make it a favorite for dramas and/or comedies (often both in one film) tackling suburban ennui. There's no real town named Stars Hollow, but "Gilmore Girls" gets the Nutmeg mood right.

In Suzanne Collins' 2008 dystopian teen novel "The Hunger Games" (which was subsequently adapted into a massively successful film franchise that kicked off in 2012), we're introduced to protagonist Katniss Everdeen, a young woman from the impoverished District 12 of Panem who illegally hunts to keep her family safe as they struggle to prepare for the annual Hunger Games. See, in Panem (a reworked interpretation of North America), a rebellion occurred years before Katniss was even born, and so the all-powerful Capitol flexes its strength every year by assembling 24 children (two from each of Panem's districts) to fight to the death in an arena, televising the event and dubbing it the "Hunger Games." When Katniss, played in the "Hunger Games" movies by Jennifer Lawrence, volunteers as tribute after her younger sister's name is chosen to compete, leaves her home behind and begins training for the Games, she and her fellow District 12 tribute Peeta...

Rod Blackhurst directed many short films and some music videos before he made his feature directorial debut with the post-apocalyptic horror film Here Alone. Since then, he has worked on Amanda Knox and John Wayne Gacy documentaries, as well as the Will Smith series Welcome to Earth, and directed the crime thriller Blood for Dust. Now, Variety reports that he’s moving ahead with a dystopian creature feature called Die by Night, and he has gathered a cast for the film that includes Isabelle Fuhrman of the Orphan franchise, Ben Hardy (Bohemian Rhapsody), and Scoot McNairy (Nightbitch).
Blackhurst is set to direct Die by Night from a screenplay he wrote himself, with Variety noting that the script is based on a prequel screenplay he wrote with J. Hunter Richardson that’s called The Chosen Few. So if Die by Night is successful, maybe we’ll see Blackhurst make the prequel The Chosen Few as well.

Another beloved horror franchise was born late last year when Lionsgate announced that a third Orphan film was in the works. What began as an under-appreciated 2009 film about a child from hell is now cementing its place within the horror pantheon, and we're here for it. The first progress report on the status of the third film has been revealed, and it's quite promising. Isabelle Fuhrman, who brought the devilish titular character to life in the first and second films and is returning to reprise the role, has teased a tantalizing script for Orphan 3.

Julia Stiles says 'Wish You Were Here' has become more "meaningful" in the time she has spent developing the film. The 43-year-old star has made her directorial debut on the romantic drama movie and she realised during the process of crafting it that the picture was perfect to make her bow behind the camera. In an interview with Collider, Julia said: "I actually had been looking for a really long time for the right story to tell as a director, and I was sent the book five years ago by an actress who's actually in the movie – she plays the best friend – and I fell in love with it. I guess she heard I was interested in directing, and she was totally right."The book really grabbed me. Actually, in the five years that we've set out to make it, it's only gotten deeper and more meaningful to me and feels more relevant.

Isabelle Fuhrman and Julia Stiles’ characters may have been at each other’s throats in Orphan: First Kill, but off camera, the two actors developed a bond that’s now resulted in Stiles’ feature directorial debut, Wish You Were Here. Stiles adapted Renée Carlino’s book of the same name during the making of the 2022 Orphan prequel, and in hindsight, Fuhrman can now see the ways in which Stiles was already beginning to envision her as the main character, Charlotte. The romantic drama chronicles the twentysomething woman’s storybook date with Mena Massoud’s Adam, only it ends with him ghosting her for a reason she never could’ve expected.
Fuhrman’s breakout performance at age ten in the cult hit Orphan (2009) made such a striking impression that it’s been difficult for her to shake one of the horror genre’s most indelible villains in Esther. Thus, she is...

Anyone who was around cinema in the early 2000s saw Julia Stiles take the romantic comedy genre by storm. 10 Things I Hate About You and Save The Last Dance were staples of any millenial film collection. She always had a certain something that made her stand out from other leads at the time. So it’s exciting to see her now take the directing route, as she embarks on this new path. A first film is tough, as it can really shape how an audience sees the types of films you’re wanting to make. And while I wasn’t a massive fan of the film (check out my review Here) there’s still plenty of potential for Stiles behind the camera.
I was able to speak with Stiles about her directorial debut, Wish You Were Here, and why she chose to adapt a novel for her first feature.

Horizon: An American Saga - Chapter 2 may be released in 2025. Isabelle Fuhrman, who stars in the epic Western franchise as Diamond Kittredge, recently offered her best guess as to when the second installment may hit theaters.

Horizon: An American Saga - Chapter 1 was one of the biggest stories in the entertainment industry last year, and certainly not in the way that star/director Kevin Costner was hoping. The film cost around $100 million to produce, yet it grossed only $38 million at the worldwide box office, making it one of the biggest flops of 2024. The film performed so poorly, in fact, that Warner Bros. removed its sequel from the release slate altogether, and while it did premiere at the Venice International Film Festival in September, it still has yet to nail down an official release date. However, during a recent interview with ScreenRant to promote her new movie, Wish You Were Here, Isabelle Fuhrman teased that the sequel could be released sooner than fans thought:...

Horizon: An American Saga – Chapter 2 gets a hopeful release update from Isabelle Fuhrman. The sequel to Kevin Costner's series of epic Western films was originally slated to release on August 16, 2024, before Warner Bros. pulled it from the release calendar. After debuting at the Venice International Film Festival, Horizon: Chapter 2's reviews have been largely negative, which does not bode well after the first movie's poor box office performance and lackluster reception.
While speaking with ScreenRant about her new film Wish You Were Here, Fuhrman shared that she believes Horizon: Chapter 2 will be released soon. She clarified that she has not been told of a confirmed release date and that actors often are not told about such information in advance. Fuhrman also emphasized how meaningful it was to see Horizon: Chapter 2 at the Venice Film Festival alongside an audience and expressed her enthusiasm for the movie's upcoming release.
