The 2017 Oscars ended with the most shocking moment in the 89-year history of the Academy Awards: Best Picture presenter Warren Beatty was given the wrong envelope and his co-presenter, Faye Dunaway, erroneously announced that “La La Land” had won, instead of “Moonlight.” Looks like these one-time co-stars will be reunited on this Sunday’s ceremony and given a chance for a do-over.
Beatty has made merry with the mishap over the ensuing year. When he appeared on “The Graham Norton Show” in the UK, the host characterized this snafu as “the TV moment of if not the year, the decade,” Beatty wondered if it did not qualify rather for an even higher status by asking “not the century?”
As he explained to Norton, he knew something was amiss the moment he opened the envelope and saw that it said Best Actress: Emma Stone, “La La Land.” “I thought well, maybe this is a misprint.

New protocols include ban on electronic devices backstage on Oscar night.
It emerged on Wednesday the organisation will not sever its ties with the accountancy firm behind last month’s momentous Oscar night gaffe.
Academy president Cheryl Boone Isaacs notified members of the development following the board’s first meeting after what she called the “most extraordinary and memorable Oscars ceremony in decades”.
Heading into its 84th year working with PwC, the board reviewed its relationship with PwC covering Oscars voting, auditing, and taxes and decided to maintain ties.
However the Academy will put into place several new protocols after PwC partner Brian Cullinan mistakenly handed best picture co-presenter Warren Beatty the wrong envelope at the climax of the show.

Chicago – When I screened “Inside Llewyn Davis” from the Coen Bros. before it was nominated for two Oscars and praised by critics everywhere, I beefed to myself: Who is this musician? Why does his story matter as compared to so many other real musicians who you never hear about but deserve that kind of spotlight?
Rating: 2.0/5.0
While it turns out that Llewyn Davis is a fictional character partly inspired by the autobiography of folk singer Dave Van Ronk, in “Ricki and the Flash” we get more of the same but in a more forgettable, inconsistent and predictable way. You’ll wonder once again: Is the “guitar heroine” Ricki Rendazzo a real musician and why does her story warrant a film? Answers: No (but it’s another “inspired by”) and she doesn’t.
While Ricki’s real name in the film is Linda, she’s not a real person and neither is her band.

It’s familiar fodder for a comedy/drama. Y’know the story of a parent leaving the family unit in order to follow a dream. Then years later, having to return for an uncomfortable, often strained reunion that usually concludes with a big, new extended-family group hug. After a failed attempt (but sometimes successful) at acquiring fame and fortune the prodigal poppa realizes that everything he really desired was right in his back yard. We recently saw this occur in Danny Collins. But this new flick does a switcheroo with that formula. This time mom flew the coop in pursuit of her passions and dreams. Meryl Streep reteams with Jonathan Demme (they remade The Manchurian Candidate a few years ago) to tell Oscar-winning scribe Diablo Cody’s tale of, not speedster superheroes, family and rock n’ roll. Grab a brew and settle in for a solid set from Ricki And The Flash.

The Flash and How To Dull It: Demme and Streep Concoct Uneven Rock Cocktail
We’ve known the multifaceted Meryl Streep, amongst her many surprising and highly touted talents, has considerable range and presence as a vocalist. Director Mike Nichols was well aware of this, utilizing her untapped virtue in early titles like Silkwood (1983) and Postcards From the Edge (1990), back when everyone was mainly agog over her filmography of accents. Now, an auteur who has maintained an equally lucrative career of a wide ranging trajectory, returns for his first narrative venture since 2008’s Rachel Getting Married for another bit of familial dysfunction with Ricki and the Flash, a vehicle resting comfortably on the shoulders of Streep’s musical abilities. Considering the performer’s striking ease and expected plausibility as an aged musician still chasing the dream, it is unfortunate the cotton candy concoction surrounding her is so intensely belabored.

The Ricki of “Ricki and the Flash” is a rocker, a Hollywood lifer who has given up everything to pursue her dreams of stardom. There are probably thousands of Rickis still hoping for that big break in Los Angeles. The one city where a dream doesn't die once you hit retirement age. (Oh, and lest we forget, Ricki happens to be played by none other than Meryl Streep. That’s somewhat important, isn't it?) Well into her ‘60s, she spends her days as a tempestuous checkout clerk for a Whole Foods knock off. At night she slides on a leather jacket to front a group of old school rock and rollers who make up the house band for a divvy San Fernando Valley bar. But the joy she finds from belting out covers of classic tunes isn’t just about her love of music. It helps her forget the other life she left behind,...

This year marks PwC's 81st year leading the Oscars balloting process for the Academy Awards Ruiz and Cullinan will be the only two souls on Earth who know the identities of the Oscar winners before they are revealed on ABC’s live telecast at 4:00 p.m. Pt (7:00 p.m. Et) on Sunday, February 22, 2015.

From Angelina Jolie's leg to Kim Jong-il's ashes: the real buzz-creating moments of the Academy Awards happened off stage - but luckily the world's press was there to capture them for posterity
The Artist's Jean Dujardin and co-star Uggie re-enact the kiss Angelina Jolie gave her brother in 2000.
This year, Jolie's brother was nowhere to be seen. But Jolie herself was on hand to present an award - and so was her leg.
Jolie with her double-act partner. And Brad Pitt.
Price Waterhouse Coopers' Rick Rosas and Brad Oltmans proudly present the sartorial nous that won them a career in accountancy. Inside their very fetching man-bags are the results of the Oscars ballots.
Tom Cruise, Katie Holmes, and two neighbours from Beverley Hills.
Sacha Baron Cohen dressed up as a dictator from his upcoming film, The Dictator, brought along what he claimed were the ashes of Kim Jong-il.

For the 18th consecutive year, master chef Wolfgang Puck has been selected by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences to create the menu for the Governors Ballon Oscar® Sunday, February 26, 2012. On Thursday morning, Puck gave the press a glimpse into what the winners can expect to feast on immediately following the 84th Academy Awards® hosted by the Board of Governors of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences - at The Grand Ballroom at Hollywood & Highland Center.
This year, instead of tables with place-settings or buffets, an army of servers will bring the food around on trays with small plates. The band will be in the center on a raised, rotating stage. The first set of bleachers are out on Hollywood Blvd. and rain coverings are installed along the route to the ball. The ballroom is completely transformed in a different way each year including the elaborate ceiling installations and hanging fixtures.

As final Oscar ballots were mailed out to the 5,783 members of the Academy on Wednesday, Friday marks the first day that they might be returned to PricewaterhouseCoopers. Pegi Young is one of our favorites here at M&C. Her sultry down-home sound and bluesy twang is so cool. Foul Deeds, which Young co-produced, is filled with her evocative lyrics and phrasing that made her self-titled 2007 album a must-own. Young is one of those gifted artists you must experience live if you can. We were excited to learn she will be touring in May with her band, the Survivors (Kelvin Holly on guitars, Rick Rosas on bass, Phil Jones on drums with Spooner Oldham on keyboards) on the west coast in May, in support of her latest album release titled Foul Deeds. Most recently, Pegi was seen performing .Body Breaks. on The Late Show with Jimmy...

The creator and keepers of the 83rd Academy Awards envelope and announcement cards were on the Red Carpet Saturday morning. Academy Award ballots were due Tuesday, and by tonight, PricewaterhouseCoopers accountants Rick Rosas and Brad Oltmanns will have determined this year’s Best Picture winner. But what about your Best Picture winner, EW.com readers? Last week, we asked you to rank the 10 nominees in order from No. 1 to No. 10, just like the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. We then counted your ballots using the Academy’s elaborate preferential voting system. Since this method involves sorting — and resorting — each individual ballot, we limited the poll to 1,000 ballots to give us a manageable sample. It was a close race...

Ballots for the 83rd annual Oscars had to be delivered to the academy by 5 p.m. (Pst) on Tuesday, Feb. 22. The 5,755 voting members of the academy were mailed their ballots 20 days ago. In recent years, several hundred ballots have arrived at academy headquarters on the last day of balloting with some voters hand-delivering them while others used express mail services. The ballot lists Academy Awards nominees in only 19 categories. HollywoodNews.com: 2011 is shaping up to be a promising year for Arcade Fire, the Canadian-based indie rock band fresh off a Grammy win for Album of the Year. While some people are still clogging up Twitter feeds with, “Arcade who?” the newly anointed Grammy winners are looking ahead to what else this year might bring.
One thing that’s certain: A headlining slot at the 2011 Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival.
The eclectic festival, which is celebrating its 10th anniversary this June, announced its full line up—with the help of comedian/TV personality/music enthusiast Conan O’Brien— this morning. It comes as almost no surprise that Arcade Fire and Eminem, who recently picked up two Grammy awards for Recovery, are headlining the 4-day-long affair.

Rumors have been circling the web regarding the highly anticipated Bonnaroo music festival for about a month, and now the official line-up has been released.
In January, someone with too much time on their hands threw together a fake line-up for the Manchester, Tn festival including the likes of U2, Lil' Wayne, The Strokes and Drake.
There are more than a few common threads (Lil' Wayne! Girl Talk! Florence + The Machine!) between the fake and real line-ups, but we are bummed that Drake didn't make the cut. Eminem taking top billing was a nice surprise, though.
Check out the full list of performers below, which also includes Arcade Fire, fresh off their Grammy win.
The festival is slated for June 9-12, 2011 and tickets will be available starting Feb. 19 and 12 noon on bonnaroo.com.

Unlike earlier, decidedly crunchy editions of the fest, the 2011 lineup is topped by two of the hugest hip-hop acts in the business — Eminem and Lil Wayne — along with newly crowned Grammy champs Arcade Fire and the Black Keys. Other acts on the bill include Mumford & Sons, the Strokes, the Decemberists, Florence and the Machine, Big Boi, Wiz Khalifa and Robyn.
Of course, there are still some nods to Bonnaroo's roots: Fest vets Widespread Panic return once again, as do My Morning Jacket and the String Cheese Incident.
