They don’t call it Super Tuesday for nothing. Fifteen states and one territory are holding their primaries on Tuesday, and 854 Republican delegates are up for grabs. Donald Trump is cleaning up so far, and it looks like he’ll walk away from the election cycle’s largest single-day primary dump with the nomination all-but secured.
Trump will win the nomination once he secures 1,215 delegates, and for his sole opponent Nikki Haley, the math ain’t’ mathin’. Trump is a whisper away from finally making a rematch with President Biden...

Media-wise, the 2024 presidential election crosses the official starting line with debate season, and this cycle the contenders on the Republican side, including a multiple-indicted former Potus, are looking to beat Democrat Joe Biden and take over the White House. But first they have to take on one another.
For the candidates, debates are a way to score points against a rival, stand out from the field or define a campaign that’s heretofore been rudderless.

Front-runner Trump has opted out of all the debates so far. In August, he instead decided to hold forth with Tucker Carlson in a more friendly pre-taped interview. That debate drew 12.8 million viewers on Fox News. He also did not participate in the September 27 debate in Simi Valley, CA, which drew 9.5 million viewers across Fox Business and Univision and simulcast on Fox News.

Donald Trump decisively won the Iowa caucuses on Monday with his closest rivals languishing far behind, a crucial victory that reinforces the former president’s grip on his party at the outset of the GOP’s 2024 nomination fight.
It was not immediately clear who would emerge as the second-place finisher, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis or former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley. Caucus voters endured life-threatening cold and dangerous driving conditions to participate in meetings that unfolded in hundreds of schools, churches and community centers across the state.
The results are just the first in what will be a monthslong effort for Trump to secure the GOP nomination a third consecutive time. But the victory sends an unmistakable message to the Republican Party that the nomination is Trump’s to lose and crystalizes the challenge facing his GOP opponents.

Updated: Former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie has dropped out of the 2024 presidential race, after his anti-Donald Trump candidacy failed to take off in the Republican primary.
“It’s clear to me tonight that there isn’t a path for me to win the nomination, which is why I am suspending my company tonight,” Christie said at a town hall in Windham, Nh, a speech carried on the major news networks.
“I want to promise you this: I want to make sure that in no way do I enable Donald Trump ever be president of the United States again, and that is more important than my personal ambition.”
He did not endorse a candidate, telling those in the room that “anyone who is unwilling to say that [Trump] is unfit to be president of the United States is unfit themselves to be president of the United States.” Just before he gave his remarks,...

The Republican Accountability Pac has created a new ad that calls Donald Trump a “dictator.”
The ad, called “Dictator Donald,” was produced by a Republican group that stands opposed to Trump.
The “Dictator Donald” was posted on YouTube over two weeks after Trump announced that he wanted to be a dictator on “the first day” of a new Trump administration.
The ad warns Americans in the starkest terms about a second Trump term.
The ad starts with a recording of an alarm clock going off at 6:00 a.m.
Next, the ad shows a clip of former Rep. Liz Cheney (R-Wyoming) shown inside an old TV, warning Americans during an interview.
“This isn’t hyperbole,” she claimed. “A vote for Donald Trump may mean the last election that you ever get to vote in.”
“He’s a threat to democracy,” Trump’s Secretary of Defense Mark Esper states in another clip.

The Republican field is shrinking, as Sen. Tim Scott (R-sc) said Sunday evening that he is suspending his presidential campaign.
Scott said on Fox News’ Sunday Night in America with Trey Gowdy that voters “who are the most remarkable people on the planet…they’re telling me, not now, Tim.”
Gowdy seemed surprised by Scott’s announcement, and said, “You have plenty of money. You have the highest approval numbers of any candidate that is running, and you are couple of states away from coming to a state where you are beloved, and you are suspending your presidential campaign?”
“I think the message is clear for me right now,” Scott said.

Republican presidential candidates Asa Hutchinson and Chris Christie both got booed at the GOP summit in Florida on Saturday.
Both men are vocal critics of former President Donald Trump.
The crowd’s reaction showed many voters support Trump, the front-runner for the Republican 2024 nomination.
Hutchinson was booed after he stated that he believes that there is a “significant likelihood” of Trump being “found guilty by a jury on a felony offense next year.”
He continued, “That may or may not happen before you vote in March. And it might not make any difference to you. But it will make a difference for our chances to attract independent voters in November.”
The audience did not agree with Hutchinson’s statements, some even saying, “Go home.”
This did not discourage Hutchinson. “As a party, we must support the rule of law,” he added. “We cannot win as a country without the integrity of the White House.

Democrats and Republicans were angered by former President Donald Trump’s remarks in West Palm Beach, Florida, on Thursday night, during which he called Hezbollah, the Iran-backed militant group, “very smart.”
Trump offered his opinions on the Hamas attack on Israel and Hezbollah’s recent entrance into the conflict.
“You know, Hezbollah is very smart,” said Trump. “They’re all very smart.”
Trump also criticized the leadership of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for failing to recognize the threat from Hamas.
Officials on both sides of the aisle condemned the former president.
“Statements like this are dangerous and unhinged,” said Andrew Bates, deputy White House press secretary, in a statement. “It’s completely lost on us why any American would ever praise an Iran-backed terrorist organization as ‘smart.’ Or have any objection to the United States warning terrorists not to attack Israel.”

Former President Donald Trump again is bashing the prospect of another Republican presidential debate, falsely claiming that his absence has translated into low viewership.
In fact, when his rivals gather at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library for the second debate on Wednesday, the question will be whether the event on Fox Business and Univision can match last month’s figures for the first gathering: a higher-than-expected 12.8 million viewers.
Fox News’s Dana Perino, who will moderate the debate with Stuart Varney and Univision’s Ilia Calderón, suggested that the viewership reflected a willingness among voters to look at alternatives.
“I think there’s people who are open minded and they’re paying a lot of attention, and they care about the direction of this country and they’re worried about it,” Perino told Deadline.

Seven candidates qualified for the second Republican presidential debate on Wednesday, to be held at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library and telecast on Fox Business and Univision.
Making the cut were North Dakota Governor Doug Burgum, former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, former Un Ambassador Nikki Haley, former Vice President Mike Pence, Vivek Ramaswamy and Sen. Tim Scott (R-sc). Former Arkansas Governor Asa Hutchinson did not make the list, even though he was at the first presidential debate last month.
The debate, which starts at 6 p.m. Pt, has a higher qualification threshold than the first event. Candidates had to have a minimum of 50,000 unique donors and also reach 3% support in two national polls, or 3% in one national poll and 3% in two polls conducted of early nominating states. On Thursday, former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie (R) called out former President Donald Trump in particularly harsh terms.

The second debate will be held at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library in California on Wednesday. As Christie and the other 2024 Republican presidential candidates prepare, Trump has made it clear he will not attend the second debate, as he didn’t with the first.
In an interview with CNN’s Wolf Blitzer, Christie stated that Trump needs to stop being a coward and show up to the debates if he has anything to say.
These remarks came shortly after Trump blasted Christie as a “grifter” on Truth Social. Trump trolled Christie over the “beachgate” scandal, where images of a relaxed Christie on the beach in 2017, while beaches were legally closed due to state government shutdown.

A banner inquiring about the whereabouts of former president Donald Trump’s wife, Melania Trump, was flown in Ames, Iowa, above the Jack Trice stadium.
The banner, titled ‘Where’s Melania?’ was flown before the game between the Iowa Hawkeyes and Iowa State Cyclones. At the game, Trump was met with a mixture of cheers and jeers.
Other GOP candidates who made an appearance at the game include Asa Hutchinson and Vivek Ramaswamy.
Melania has not been present at any of Donald Trump’s 2024 campaign events, as she has remained in Florida with Barron Trump, the couple’s son. Melania has backed her husband’s campaign but has kept a low profile with the former president’s mounting legal problems. Some have suggested that she is using her support to leverage a better deal on the renegotiation of the couple’s prenup.
Trump hopes to continue his status as the favorite for the Republican party.

It was not until the Republican presidential debate entered its second hour that Fox News anchor Bret Baier addressed “the elephant not in this room” – the indictments of no-show Donald Trump.
“If former President Trump is convicted in a court of law, would you still support him as your party’s choice?”
When six of the eight candidates raised their hands — some with more hesitation than the others — it was undoubtedly one of the standout moments of the initial 2024 event.
No other question like that has ever been asked at a presidential debate because no contender, much less the front runner, has faced such an avalanche of criminal allegations. Surprising as it is that so many still pledged to support him, even though Trump hasn’t even signed a pledge to support them, speaks to the hold that he has on the party.

Donald Trump skipped the debate stage typically relished by presidential candidates on Wednesday and instead appeared in an online interview peppered with his election lies, attacks on his rivals and lavish praise for the crowd of supporters he spoke to before they stormed the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021.
Trump, who has repeatedly brushed aside democratic norms and embraced the inflammatory throughout his political career, said he was sitting out the first Republican presidential debate in Milwaukee because his poll numbers showed him far ahead of his rivals.
Instead, he used a pre-recorded interview with former Fox News host Tucker Carlson to make his case that everyone but him is irrelevant.
In the most inflammatory exchange, Trump seemed to indulge a suggestion from Carlson that Trump’s political opponents might try to end his life.

Jumping the gun on Fox News’ GOP debate tonight, Donald Trump and Tucker Carlson made it clear to Rupert Murdoch that revenge is a dish best served online. Running like an incumbent with no desire to share the spotlight with vice president wannabes, Trump easily dominated the debate by never showing up.
“It’s debate night, but we’re not in Milwaukee,” Carlson proclaimed at the top of the video with a sour-looking Trump by his side.
“We’re doing this interview, but we’ll get bigger ratings using this crazy forum that you’re using than probably the debate,” said the former Potus and leading candidate for the 2024 Republican nomination to the former Fnc Golden Boy during their pre-recorded chat that debuted on the social media platform formerly known as Twitter at 5:55 p.m. Pt, five minutes before the live debate began.

Update: Six of the eight contenders on the stage indicated that they would still support Donald Trump if he is the GOP nominee even if he is convicted.
But the cameras caught Ron DeSantis as he looked around at his rivals before raising his hand.
Moderator Bret Baier had asked if Trump “is convicted in a court of law, would you still support him as your party’s choice?”
The only two who did not were Asa Hutchinson and Chris Christie. And the latter looked as if he had raised his hand, but told Baier that he was waving a sign of disapproval.
“Here’s the bottom line: Someone has got to stop normalizing this conduct. Whether or not you believe the criminal charges are right or wrong, the conduct is beneath the office of president of the United States,” Christie said. His remarks drew some cheers and boos.

Donald Trump says that he won’t participate in the first Republican debate, but seven of his rivals will be on the debate stage.
The Republican National Committee confirmed the list of those who qualified for the Wednesday event, to be telecast on Fox News and moderated by Bret Baier and Martha MacCallum.
Those who will be in the debate include Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, former Vice President Mike Pence, former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie, former Un ambassador Nikki Haley, former pharmaceutical executive Vivek Ramaswamy, Sen. To qualify, candidates must have a minimum of 40,000 donors and to have reached at least 1% in three national polls or a combination of two national and two early-state polls. Candidates also need to sign a pledge vowing to support the eventual nominee. Trump met the donor and polling criteria,...

Updated, with detail on pretrial hearing: Donald Trump said today that he received a letter from Special Counsel Jack Smith stating that he is a target of a grand jury’s January 6th investigation, in what the former president said was a prelude to arrest and indictment.
In a message posted on Truth Social, his social media platform, Trump said that the letter received over the weekend gave him a “very short 4 days to report to the Grand Jury, which almost always means an Arrest and Indictment.”
Trump said that he received the letter on Sunday night. The news quickly dominated coverage on cable news networks.

Outsted Fox News star Tucker Carlson will appear in his first major public event since his April canning on Friday, when he hosts an Iowa presidential forum presented by Blaze Media.
Carlson will speak one-on-one with five candidates at what is billed as “The Family Leadership Summit” — Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, former Vice President Mike Pence, South Carolina Sen. Tim Scott, former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley, entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy and former Arkansas Gov. Asa Hutchinson. The talks start at 10 a.m.
Former President Donald Trump, the frontrunner for the 2024 Republican presidential nomination, is not slated to appear. Neither is former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, the candidate who has been the most critical of Trump on the campaign trail.
Following the forum, Carlson will appear on a special episode of “Glenn TV,” for what is being billed as “an intimate conversation” with another former Fox News host, Glenn Beck.

The Supreme Court ended its latest term in devastating fashion, ruling that businesses can discriminate against gay Americans before striking down President Biden’s plan for relieve student debt relief for an estimated 43 million Americans. The rulings came a day after the conservative court deemed race-base affirmative action in college admissions unconstitutional.
The court’s three liberal justices — Ketanji Brown Jackson, Sonia Sotomayor, and Elena Kagan — delivered scathing dissenting opinions, calling out their “let them eat cake” colleagues for taking a hatchet to the longstanding measures to protect and uplift marginalized Americans.

Given Nikki Haley’s abysmal polling numbers and lackluster fundraising, it’s high time the 2024 Republican presidential candidate switched up her messaging strategy, and Donald Trump’s indictment by the Justice Department is looking like too good of an opportunity for the former South Carolina governor to pass up.

The audience of “The View” wasn’t pleased with New Hampshire Gov. Chris Sununu’s response to a question from the table about gun control on Thursday morning, but the hosts of the ABC talk show weren’t tolerating any booing. According to the women, it’s important to hear all sides on the issue.
The panel, of course, hasn’t been shy about their disdain for how Republican lawmakers have handled gun control, and their beliefs that at the very least, assault weapons like Ar-15s should be banned entirely. So, when Sununu — who is said to be considering throwing his hat in the ring of Republicans running for president in 2024 — appeared on the show, the women asked him for his thoughts directly.
“I’m not banning any guns,” he said. “I’m gonna provide access to mental health care, we’re gonna get at the core of the issue.

(Updated with more details) Ron DeSantis is running for President.
Making it official today after months of proxy campaigning, the Florida Governor unveiled his 2024 White House ambitions just before a scheduled Twitter hosted interview with the social media company’s owner Elon Musk. Earlier Wednesday, DeSantis filed the paperwork necessary with the Federal Election Commission to begin his bid.
Already a criticized unconventional choice, the Twitter Spaces conversation with Musk was hit with glitches leaving many listeners unable to tune in, so to speak.
Over 500,000 users experienced crashes or audio problems from the start. Within about 25-minutes the whole experiment seemed to not only crash but burn, and was abandoned as Twitter servers overloaded due to demand, according to Musk.
A few minutes beforehand, it was actually quite easy to hear and see where DeSantis was coming from in a more conventional format.

Republican presidential candidate Nikki Haley will participate in a live CNN presidential town hall next month in Iowa, the network said Wednesday. The announcement comes just weeks after the network held a town hall with GOP presidential candidate Donald Trump, moderated by Kaitlan Collins, in New Hampshire.
CNN anchor and chief Washington correspondent Jake Tapper will moderate the Haley event, which will air at 8 p.m. Et on June 4.
The former South Carolina governor is one of many Republicans in a growing field of candidates who are vying for the party’s presidential nomination and who are heavily focused on Iowa – a state early in the primary election calendar that can make or break a campaign’s momentum.
Haley, who served almost two years as US ambassador to the United Nations during the Trump administration, has had to navigate running against her former boss and the current GOP front-runner.

Donald Trump has managed to cow his Republican 2024 opponents into defending him at every turn — even when he’s been found liable for sexual battery.

While the jury stopped short of ruling the attack was rape, they did find that Trump was liable for sexual battery against Carroll and had later defamed her after she came forward.

CNN is under fire for normalizing Donald Trump — an accusation that the network faced in 2016, when it gave him wall-to-wall coverage and multiple on-air appearances.
On May 9, the former “Apprentice” star was found liable for sexual abuse and battery in Manhattan civil court via the lawsuit brought by E. Jean Carroll. The verdict arrived a little over a month after Trump, who also served as President of the United States from 2017 to 2021, also was charged with 34 felony counts related to hush money payments made to an adult film star.
Much of the attention of media commentators on Twitter after the verdict was directed at CNN, which has undergone a sustained change since the Warner Bros. Discovery merger. Today, May 10, just a day after the ruling, the network will host a primetime Town Hall event with Trump hosted by Kaitlan Collins. He will be the first GOP challenger to President Joe Biden...

President Joe Biden spent a great deal of his speech at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner on the fate of journalists held in captivity, vowing, “I promise you. I am working like hell to get them home.”
Still in a tone of seriousness, Biden said, “I believe in the First Amendment, and not just because my good friend Jimmy Madison wrote it.”
It took a few beats for many of the 2,600 or so packed into the Washington Hilton subterranean ballroom that the president was making a transition to the satirical portion of his remarks. By the time that he got to a Don Lemon joke, it was on.

Republican National Committee chairwoman Ronna McDaniel announced today that Fox News will host the first official Republican debate of the party’s 2024 presidential primary race in August in Milwaukee.

On Tuesday night, former President Donald Trump entertained both Kanye West and white supremacist Nick Fuentes at his Mar-a-Lago resort.
Fuentes has gained a reputation from his podcast and attendance at alt-right rallies like one in February where he praised Putin’s invasion of Ukraine. Fuentes has also been called out for his belief in “The White Genocide,” a concept floated by many in far-right groups.
The dinner at Mar-a-Lago comes a week after Trump announced he would be once again be running for President.
The former president went to his social media platform to discuss the night’s events. “This past week, Kanye West called me to have dinner at Mar-a-Lago. Shortly thereafter, he unexpectedly showed up with three of his friends, whom I knew nothing about. We had dinner on Tuesday evening with many members present on the back patio. Donald Trump’s dinner with Kanye West and Holocaust denier Nick Fuentes has so far drawn criticism from two elected Republicans, Arkansas Gov. Asa Hutchinson and Rep. James Comer of Kentucky.
