Undeniably, two of Hollywood's most iconic action heroes and unforgettable leading men are Sylvester Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenegger, with both illustrious actors being staples on the silver screen for decades. The duo first skyrocketed to prominence in the '70s, with Stallone becoming a household name when he starred as Rocky Balboa in the Oscar-winning sports drama Rocky and Schwarzenegger serving as the focus for the critically acclaimed docudrama Pumping Iron.
The 1980s saw the cinema legends take on some of their most beloved action heroes, as Stallone went on to portray lone wolf soldier John Rambo while reprising his role as Balboa and Schwarzenegger dazzling moviegoers all across the world as the Terminator and in hits like Commando and Predator. Naturally, it was only a matter of time before the two legends would join forces on the screen, finally giving audiences what they wanted in the 2013 action thriller Escape Plan...

Escape Plan, the 2013 Sylvester Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenegger prison action thriller, has enjoyed a new lease of life on the streaming platform Netflix. The movie, which co-stars 50 Cent, Jim Caviezel, Vinnie Jones, Amy Ryan, Vincent D'Onofrio, and Sam Neill, was directed by Swedish filmmaker Mikael Hfstrm, with a screenplay by Miles Chapman and Arnell Jesko. The movie received mixed reviews and was a box office success, grossing $137 million against a budget of $54 million to $70 million, and was followed by two sequels, both featuring Stallone.
Now, 11 years after the movie's initial release, it appears to be enjoying fresh success on streaming giant Netflix, with the film entering the platform's Top 10 movies in the United States for today. The movie has debuted at number 5 on the charts, edging out the Denzel Washington and Mark Wahlberg action-comedy 2 Guns, It: Chapter Two, Robin Hood, Jailbreak: Love On the Run, and 2018 Halloween remake,...

Take it outside, Jake Gyllenhaal — there was already a “Road House 2.” And it was awful.
The Og “Road House” starring Patrick Swayze came out in 1989 and made $30 million at the box office — a nice return on investment back in the day. Naturally, MGM struck while the iron was hot: a scant 17 years later, the studio released a straight-to-dvd sequel, “Road House 2: Last Call” (2006). Exactly 17 more years later, I went straight to Vudu to buy it. I did not get a good Roi on my $9.99.
Look, I knew what I was getting into. Like you, I didn’t realize there was a “Road House 2” until Doug Liman made a “Road House 3.”
Still the only “Road House” to get a theatrical release, the Swayze flick ended up doing most of its damage on home entertainment. The film isn’t well-reviewed — it has a 41 percent rating on Rotten Tomatoes and a 36 on...

There's striking while the iron is hot, and then there's striking while the iron is much closer to room temperature. "Escape Plan," director Mikael Håfström's 2013 action film pairing Sylvester Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenegger together for a long-awaited team-up, is the latter. By the time the duo combined their powers to play a prison security expert (Stallone) who is wrongly incarcerated (I sincerely hope writers Miles Chapman and Arnell Jesko patted themselves on the back for coming up with such a brazenly obvious dramatic irony) and has to break out of an illicit maximum-security prison with the help of a fellow inmate (Schwarzenegger), their glory days anchoring '80s and '90s macho-fests were long behind them.
Contrary to that, the first "Escape Plan" is actually pretty fun! Or, rather, it's fun in the same way that Stallone and Schwarzenegger's best action movie throwbacks are, in that the pair spend...

2013′s Escape Plan was, despite the hype behind the double header of the appearance of Stallone and Schwarzenegger together, something of an underwhelming action flick. Whilst it was a solid movie it didn’t set the world alight and most people, other than genre fans that is, would be hard-pressed to remember the ins-and-outs of the futuristic prison film. But that didn’t stop Stallone from putting together plans for not one but Two sequels, this time teaming with man-mountain and comedy genius Dave Bautista and director Steven C. Welcome to hell. In order to properly contextualize just how painful it is to sit through “Escape Plan 2: Hades,” here is a comprehensive list of the movie’s virtues:
Sylvester Stallone successfully says the word “algorithm.” 50 Cent plays a GQ-styled security expert named “Hush.” There’s a scene where Dave Bautista solves a Rubik’s Cube and then physically threatens Fall Out Boy bassist Pete Wentz. At one point, Bautista walks by a marquee for Idina Menzel while wearing an outfit that can only be described as “Pitbull cos-play.” The film immediately cuts away the moment that Stallone begins to creep on one of his employees. That employee is played by Jaime King, an actress who continues to make everything she’s in at least a little bit better. Titus Welliver shows up as an ultra-serious bad guy who insists that his victims call him “The Zookeeper.”
And that’s it.

While there is still no release date in place for Escape Plan 2, production has already commenced on Escape Plan 3, with Sylvester Stallone sending out the first video from the set. Suggesting that the fourth Expendables movie he recently bailed on must have been a real triumph of suck, Sylvester Stallone has announced that he’ll be returning to his franchise duties on Escape Plan 3. If that title provokes a series of questions—“Was there already an Escape Plan 2?” “Was there already an Escape Plan 1?!”—it’s understandable. The franchise’s first film was only a modest success, pairing Stallone with Arnold Schwarzenegger as they attempted to execute some kind of “prison break.” And the second—which Schwarzenegger skipped out on, and in which Stallone reportedly only had a supporting role—has only just finished shooting.
Nevertheless, Stallone has assured Ep fans that he’ll be reprising his role as security expert Ray Breslin as the series makes a desperate bid for trilogy-dom. Miles Chapman, who wrote the previous films, will return with a new script, while Escape ...

Escape Plan, the 2013 prison break movie that co-starred '80s action icons Sylvester Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenegger, ended up being a bit of a disappointment for fans who grew up wondering what it'd be like if those two big screen badasses shared the screen together. It was pulpy, but not quite up to snuff on a story level. Now there's a sequel brewing, but it appears that only one of the duo will be returning for it.
Deadline reports that Emmett/Furla/Oasis Films is working on a sequel, and Stallone will reprise his role as prison architect Ray Breslin — only this time, it will be in a supporting capacity. Miles Chapman, who wrote the first film, is coming back to write the sequel, which will gear up for production in Ohio and China (where the film performed extremely well) early next year with a planned start date of March 15th.

Sylvester Stallone is also said to be returning in a supporting capacity, although no further details were given about the story.

You’d think a movie starring Sylvester Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenegger as prisoners trying to escape from a high-tech black site would be a big hit, but director Mikael Håfström’s Escape Plan wasn’t quite as memorable as its cast list would lead you to believe. Perhaps everybody would’ve lost their minds over it if the movie had come out in 1993, but since it came out in 2013, it only ended up being a reasonably successful action gem. That being said, it still apparently did well enough to warrant a sequel, with Deadline reporting that Sylvester Stallone is “prepared” to reprise his role as security expert Ray Breslin. Unfortunately, he’ll be relegated to a supporting role this time around, with Schwarzenegger not expected to appear at all. Original writer Miles Chapman is returning for the sequel, but he’ll have his work cut out for him ...

After two box office disappointments, The Last Stand and Bullet To The Head, two of action’s greatest ever stars Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sylvester Stallone come together for the first film in which they properly, actually, legitimately star with each other, the thriller Escape Plan.
Bursting forth with all the bravura and inherent silliness of the two men’s action heyday, Escape Plan feels very much like a throwback to a time when action films didn’t rely on special effects or young, hot stars instead giving us a world where Stallone can hook up with Amy Ryan and Schwarzenegger can have a slow-motion whip around shot on his eyes as he first manages to get a gun. On these terms, Escape Plan does exactly what it says...

Directed by Mikael Håfström (The Rite), the R-rated Escape Plan garnered only so-so notices from the critics, earning a 5.3/10 rating at Rotten Tomatoes based on 103 published reviews. It received equally average attention at the domestic box office, ringing up some $26 million at the U.S. box office following...

Chicago – Great action movies have one truth in common – they mix their face-offs with a psychological battle, which complements the pyrotechnics of invincible super humans. “Escape Plan,” with grizzled veterans Sylvester Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenegger, is true to that form.
Rating: 4.0/5.0
It’s enough to cheer that these two guys – who have made billions of dollars for their industry – can, at this point in their careers, get a decent story and script (by Miles Chapman and Jason Keller), and have a director (Mikael Hafström) who understands what makes each of them tick on screen. This is old school, but also fresh and modern, and contains symbolic themes of extreme rendition, identity, religion and yes, psychology. The man who once played Jesus, Jim Caviezel, now takes on the two action movie gods with a original spin on the evil warden. The film never flags, even though it features its share of impossibilities,...

When I first heard that Arnold Schwarzenegger was going to show up in a cameo role in The Expendables opposite Sylvester Stallone, a small part of me died. The simultaneous awesomeness and ridiculousness of two gargantuan 80s action hero titans showing up together on-screen – alongside Bruce Willis no less – was more than enough to make me rush out to see the film. That tiny scene was probably the most exciting part of an otherwise disappointing effort (their expanded work together in the over-the-top, balls out sequel was infinitely better), yet it still made watching the film totally worth it. Obviously, the idea of bringing the pair together struck a serious chord with someone as we now have a starring vehicle for both of the legendary actors in Escape Plan.

Escape Plan is a dumb, but satisfying, theatrical equivalent to any recent direct-to-video actioner featuring above the line talent that used to be known for their star power. As for the film's leads, I think it's safe to say the "star power" of Sylvester Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenegger's is looking quite dim as of late as I'm sure even they would admit Escape Plan is no substitute for the myriad of solid films these two churned out 20-30 years ago. It is, however, their aging personas that give audiences familiar with their classic work any reason to see this movie, as one slow motion shot of Arnold just before he lays waste to an onslaught of prison guards becomes the film's signature moment. Stallone plays Ray Breslin, a man with a certain set of skills, those being the ability to break out of any prison placed in front of him,...

Whilst Sylvester Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenegger ruled the 80’s as action Gods, nowadays heir apparents such as Jason Statham and Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson are the perennial muscle men. Unbelievably the two titans never united at their zenith, an oversight which Escape Plan has now righted. It delivers exactly what you would expect from a film that has these two names side by side – and that is by no means a bad thing.

Directed by Mikael Håfström, Stallone stars as security specialist Ray Breslin, whose job it is to test the reliability of prisons by breaking out of them. Now wrongfully imprisoned, he must recruit fellow inmate Emil Rottmayer (Schwarzenegger) if he is to break out.

Hasta la vista… Adriaaaan!
The star personas of Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sylvester Stallone are skilfully harnessed together in the immensely enjoyable Escape Plan, which manages to salvage the flagging 'geriaction' genre with plenty of old school laughs and thrills. Who cares about the sagging skin of the leading men when the plotting is taut and the performances are tight?
You'd think Arnie and Sly were ready to be ushered into Zimmer Frames, given mugs of Ovaltine and dumped in a nursing home in Eastbourne, judging by the lacklustre commercial reception to their recent vehicles The Last Stand and Bullet To The Head. Yet together, the two titans soar thanks to a well structured script and direction from Mikael Håfström that knows precisely...

The Jason Keller and Miles Chapman-scripted actioner from Summit Entertainment looks well...entertaining, and should be a decent popcorn flick for those less-inclined to visit the more serious films. In Escape Plan, Ray Breslin is the world's foremost authority on structural security. After analyzing every high security prison and learning a vast array of survival skills so he can design escape-proof prisons, his skills are put to the test. He's framed and incarcerated in a master prison he designed himself. He needs to escape and find the person who put him behind bars.

After teaming up in The Expendables 2, action fans are surely excited to see Sylvester Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenegger back together again as they try to bust out of the most secure prison ever built in Escape Plan. We've already seen a trailer with Stallone and Schwarzenegger doing what they do best, and now two international posters have showed up featuring the meathead duo. One is certainly reminiscent of face off with a poorly done blend in the middle while the other features the stars in the cells of this unique prison. However, we're not sure how they got those big guns on the inside without raising some eyebrows. Here are the two international posters for Mikael Håfström's Escape Plan from Imp Awards: Escape Plan is directed by Mikael Håfström (1408, Shanghai) & written by Miles Chapman. For over a decade, the two biggest Hollywood action stars were Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sylvester Stallone, starring in movies such as Commando, First Blood, Predator, Tango & Cash, and the Terminator and Rocky series. The two never found themselves onscreen together, however, until 2010′s The Expendables; however, much to the delight of many, both stars were soon attached to major roles in director Mikael Hafstrom’s newest feature. Titled Escape Plan, the film is written by Miles Chapman and Jason Keller, and joining the two stars onscreen are Jim Caviezel, Sam Neill, Curtis Jackson, Vincent D’Onofrio, and Amy Ryan. The first trailer for the feature has now been released, and can be seen below.

Escape Plan starring Sylvester Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenegger was previously titled The Tomb. Not sure why the title change, but I'm sure a focus group had something to do with it and as we all know, those groups tend to know what they're doing. Today the first trailer for Escape Plan has arrived ahead of what will probably be a Stallone and Schwarzenegger Comic Con appearance that will send fans through the roof. The film doesn't hit theaters until October 18, and I must say, I actually like the look of this. Written by Miles Chapman (Road House 2: Last Call) and Jason Keller (Machine Gun Preacher), the story focuses on Ray Breslin (Stallone) a man known for his talent to breaking out of prisons. It's a niche job I assume and he's just been hired to break out of a new high security prison, but the tables are turned when...

"You don't look that smart." "You don't either." Summit has finally unveiled the trailer for Escape Plan, formerly known as The Tomb, a new prison escape movie co-starring both Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sylvester Stallone. The concept of this is actually pretty damn cool - take two experience prison escapees, throw them in a next generation prison with faceless guards, special cells and other tricks. Then let them try and escape. This should be fun, and thankfully the footage looks like it might live up to that concept. This is the kind of badass 90's action movie I've missed recently. I'm looking forward to seeing how they pull it off! "But it's supposed to be dumb!" certain audiences cry, when defending whatever dim action movie is causing chatter, which this week is "White House Down." While we hoped it would qualify as dumb yet awesome, it's just plain awful, with a self-seriousness that extinguishes whatever fun it might be trying to have with the genre. And yeah, we'd reckon the same applies to this latest offering from Sylvester Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenegger. The first trailer for "Escape Plan" (formerly known as "The Tomb") is here and it looks fairly insipid. The movie finds Stallone playing Ray Breslin, a security expert who designs inescapable high-tech prisons for a living, only to find himself locked up in one, fighting for his life. His only ally will be Arnie, a hardened inmate looking to get a taste of life on the outside once again. This cinematic wonder comes from Miles Chapman, director of "Road House 2: Last Call,...

Late last summer, we got our first look at the new prison escape thriller titled The Tomb starring Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sylvester Stallone. Well, since then, the film from director Mikael Håfström (1408, The Rite) has been retitled Escape Plan, and now the fall release is gearing up the hype machine with the first poster. That usually means the first trailer isn't too far behind, likely arriving sometime next week, but until then this poster is pretty cool.
