- Pablo Larraín (Santiago, Chile, 1976) is a founding partner of Fabula, a company dedicated to film, television, commercials, podcasts and production services.
In 2005 he directed his first feature film, "Fuga".
His second film, "Tony Manero", premiered at the Directors' Fortnight of the Cannes Film Festival in 2008. "Post Mortem", his third feature film, premiered at the Official Competition of the Venice International Film Festival in September 2010.
In 2010 he directed "Prófugos", the first HBO show made in Chile and its second season, also directed by Pablo, premiered in 2013. "No", is his fourth film, winner of Best Film at the Directors' Fortnight of the Cannes Film Festival 2012 and nominated for Best Foreign Film at the Academy Awards.
In 2014, he directed an opera for the Teatro Municipal de Santiago, "Katia Kabanova" by Leos Janacek. And also made his debut as a playwright and theater director with the play "Acceso" at Teatro La Memoria.
"The Club," his fifth feature film, premiered at the Official Competition of the Berlin Festival in 2015, where it was awarded the Silver Bear for Special Jury Prize.
In 2015, he released "Neruda", starring Gael García Bernal, at the Cannes Film Festival 2016 and "Jackie", starring Natalie Portman, at the Venice Film Festival. The latter was nominated for three Academy Awards in the "Best Actress", "Best Costume Design" and "Best Soundtrack" categories.
"Ema", starring Mariana Di Girolamo, Gael García Bernal, and Santiago Cabrera, was part of the official selection at the 2019 Venice Film Festival, where it won the ARCA award.
In 2019, he began filming "Lisey's Story," based on the book by Stephen King. The miniseries, produced by J.J Abrams and starring Juliane Moore, premiered on Apple TV + in 2021.
In 2020 he was a part of "Homemade," an anthology of short films made during lockdown. It was released on Netflix and directed by an array of filmmakers like Sebastian Lelio, Ladj Ly, Rachel Morrison, Ana Lily Amirpour, Kristen Stewart and others.
In 2021, "SPENCER", Pablo's most recent feature film, premiered at the Venice International Film Festival. written by Steven Knight and starring Kristen Stewart. It was nominated an Academy Award in 2022, in the "Best Actress" category.
Pablo has also been involved as Producer in other Fabula films, like "A Fantastic Woman", directed by Sebastián Lelio, winner of an Oscar for Best Foreign Language Film; and "Gloria Bell" starring Julianne Moore and John Turturro, which premiered at the Toronto Film Festival.
