Riordan revealed on Goodreads that he's "guardedly optimistic" about the Percy Jackson season running for five seasons on Disney+ and covering all five books in the Percy Jackson and the Olympians book series.

Here's what Riordan said, via Collider:

"I'm guardedly optimistic about future seasons. No one knows the answer right now. It will depend on continued viewership, but we're certainly off to a great start! All I can say for certain is that everyone involved is hoping and assuming that we will have the full five-season arc, but we'll just have to wait and see. As for how fast they will come out, the hope is certainly that we can pick up the pace of release dates,...

Image
Actor Josh Radnor, who played Ted Mosby in all nine seasons of the CBS hit sitcom How I Met Your Mother, realizes that fans had a visceral reaction to his character. He reminisced about his character and the criticism he still gets to this day over Ted’s actions on the show. Steve Zahn and Rick Gomez Unveil Their Banner, Macaroni Art Productions
Image
In the ‘90s New York acting scene, Steve Zahn and Rick Gomez were two moons orbiting the same planet. They went out for the same roles and ran in the same crowds. Gomez landed a coveted spot in the World War II miniseries Band of Brothers, while Zahn bowed out due to scheduling issues that prevented him from reuniting with his That Thing You Do director Tom Hanks. Despite these close encounters, they don’t recall ever meeting.

Nearly 20 years later, Zahn and Gomez finally linked up on The Crossing, in which Zahn played a sheriff to Gomez’s deputy. The sci-fi show was short-lived, airing for just one season on ABC in 2018, but it spawned one of the closest relationships in both men’s lives. “We both worked the same way. We were both rewriting the scripts and trying to convince them to make it cooler than it was,...

Every ‘Black Mirror’ Episode, Ranked (Including Season 7)
Image
The world has changed a lot since “Black Mirror” premiered in 2011; mostly as the lines between fact and fiction blur. The sci-fi show from Charlie Brooker and Annabel Jones became shorthand for our bleakest and most dystopic realities, whether that was a caricature rising to the highest office in the nation, technology used to monitor and manipulate human behavior, or alternate realities and artificial intelligence.

With Season 7 now on Netflix — after the questionable prescience and potency of Season 6 — IndieWire is updating our ranking of every installment. Comparing episodes of an anthology series like this one is inherently tricky, even if there is a certain “We’re all doomed” throughline present in most..

Arranging the episodes by quality also doesn’t guarantee the ideal viewing order, but IndieWire’s list naturally punctures defeatism with hope. We don’t recommend binge-viewing, but if you want to journey back through “Black Mirror,” allow...

‘Out of My Mind’ Star Phoebe-Rae Taylor on DMing Co-Star Jennifer Aniston and How the Film’s Accessible Set Was a ‘Breath of Fresh Air’
Image
For Phoebe-Rae Taylor, the experience of starring in the Disney+ movie “Out of My Mind” provided her with the feeling of total acceptance.

The actor plays Melody Brooks, a non-verbal 12-year-old with cerebral palsy who leaves her special-ed classroom to join mainstream classes. Taylor, 16, makes her acting debut with the film, and she described how the accessibility of the set created a comfortable environment for her, as someone with cerebral palsy.

“I have never felt so accepted, and because all my life I’ve been judged and everything’s been so hard and difficult to go to certain places or to do normal things. So to be able to come to a place where everyone accepts me, and there’s ramps everywhere, or even the tiny things like I can get into that doorway without having to go round the back or the long way was such a breath of fresh air,...

‘Out Of My Mind’ Director Amber Sealey And Co-Star Luke Kirby Hope Movie Helps Normalize Disability – Contenders TV
Image
The Disney+ original movie Out of My Mind, based on the book by Sharon M. Draper, is about a girl with cerebral palsy who cannot speak. In putting Melody Brooks (Phoebe-Rae Taylor) on screen, director Amber Sealey hopes to show viewers they can talk to people with disabilities, even if that disability means the person will respond in a different way.

“People always ask how to make other people comfortable with disability,” Sealey said. “Part of it is just normalize it.”

Taylor has cerebral palsy and can vocalize. In the film, Melody communicates by pointing to symbols on a board representing her feelings or requests, and later uses an electronic speech device. Sealey said she has spoken with children after screenings of the film and seen the positive impact.

“When they ask questions, they ask, ‘There’s a kid in my class who has cerebral palsy. What do I do?...

Disney+ Greenlights Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 3 Ahead of Season 2
Rick Riordan
Disney+ has announced an early renewal for Percy Jackson and the Olympians, confirming a third season before the second season has aired. The decision reflects confidence in the adaptation of Rick Riordan’s book series, which has been one of the most successful original shows on the streaming platform.

Season 2, which wrapped production in January, is scheduled to premiere in December, two years after the first season debuted. The renewal of Season 3 allows the creative team to continue developing the series without major delays, an approach that co-showrunner Jonathan E. Steinberg has emphasized as a priority.

“Part of wanting to keep the process going is trying to do whatever we can to be ready for it and to know how to have the conversations and to have a plan,” Steinberg said in a recent interview.

The upcoming third season will be based on The Titan’s Curse, the third book in...

One Of 2024's Best Horror Movies Is Taking Over Prime Video's Top Charts
Image
The demon from Parker Finn's "Smile" movies has a very peculiar mode of operations. It's largely invisible, and it can induce hallucinations in its chosen hosts. It typically appears to its victims as someone they know, or perhaps a stranger, but always wearing a very creepy smile. For a few weeks, the demon tortures its host with hallucinations, eventually taking over their bodies. Once possessed, the victim themselves would smile horrifyingly, while taking their own life. The self-slaughter is, as the demon dictates, performed in front of a witness. The witness, in seeing a smiling person kill themselves, gives them trauma that allows the demon to pass onto them. The cycle then repeats.

The "Smile" movies are very clearly about the way trauma can be passed from generation to generation, and how violence and self-harm can create a never-ending cycle. Despite the strangeness of the premise, the "Smile" movies are surprisingly scary,...

Ben Stiller and Vince Vaughn were two of the biggest comedy stars of the 1990s and early 2000s, appearing in a series of hit movies that defined the era. Vaughn’s breakout role in Swingers, followed by memorable turns in Old School and Wedding Crashers, paired with Stiller’s iconic performances in There’s Something About Mary and Zoolander, established them as Hollywood’s go-to funnymen. ‘Smile 2’ Blu-ray Review
Image
Stars: Naomi Scott, Rosemarie DeWitt, Ray Nicholson, Dylan Gelula, Lukas Gage, Raúl Castillo | Written and Directed by Parker Finn

The original Smile became a sleeper hit for writer/director Parker Finn in 2022, so it’s no surprise that the film has generated a sequel just two years later, especially given its obvious franchise potential. It’s particularly gratifying to find Finn back in both the writer’s and the director’s chairs, because he’s surely one of the finest jump scare orchestrators in the business.

Smile 2 picks up six days after the events of the first movie, as desperate cop Joel (a briefly returning Kyle Gallner) tries and fails to get rid of the cursed entity that infects each host and makes them see grotesquely grinning figures, before eventually killing themselves, while also wearing a monstrous smile.

We then meet the entity’s latest potential victim, pop star...

And Just Like That Season 3: Confirmation, Cast, & Everything We Know
Image
The second season of Sex and the City revival And Just Like That was a smashing success, and here's all the season 3 news teasing what awaits when Carrie returns. The revival was originally supposed to be a miniseries before it was renewed for a second season, but the Sex and the City continuation has seemingly become the second leg of the franchise. And Just Like That follows Carrie (Sarah Jessica Parker), Miranda (Cynthia Nixon), and Charlotte (Kristin Davis) as they navigate life in New York City in their 50s, dealing with grief, complex friendships, sexuality, and gender.

From the start, And Just Like That differed from HBO's Sex and the City. Carrie's main love interest Mr. Big (Chris Noth) died in the first episode, and Samantha (Kim Cattrall) never appeared on screen due to Kim Cattrall initially refusing to return. Viewership made up for the less-than-desirable reviews, and Ajlt was...

Patti LuPone Joins ‘And Just Like That’ Season 3
Image
Broadway legend Patti LuPone is joining Season 3 of “And Just Like That,” though executive producer Michael Patrick King would not reveal what role she’ll be playing.

King told Entertainment Weekly on Friday that LuPone, who recently played Lilia Calderu on Marvel’s “Agatha All Along,” will have “an arc on our show this season.”

He also confirmed that Kristen Schaal of “Last Man on Earth” and “What We Do in the Shadows” will also be a part of Season 3, and that we’ll see more of Rosemarie Dewitt as Kathy, the ex-wife of Aidan (John Corbett).

“It’s a lot of ‘new’ within the familiar, but even the familiar characters are going through new things,” King told EW. “It’s more than Carrie [Sarah Jessica Parker] that has a new apartment. Miranda [Cynthia Nixon] has a new apartment. We feel that there’s a lot of newness in the world right now,...

The Best Horror Movies of 2024
Image
To tweak Hugh Grant’s best line in “Love Actually,” horror actually is all around.

Whether you’re riding into the new year on your high horse or calmly preparing to walk into the sea, 2025 is a turning point. There’s no genre that tells us who we are or what we’re made of like this one, and the past twelve months have offered audiences a slew of scary stories full of shocks and surprises that were mostly open to interpretation.

Not all of us found powerful metaphors for social change in popular titles, and plenty of terrifying efforts flew under the radar in the genre’s generally high-grossing landscape. There were enough abortion analogies released last spring to merit their own ranking And there’s a reason “MaXXXine” — the definitive film of Brat Girl Summer! — didn’t make many year-end lists. Fittingly, the Mia Goth-starring sequel is...

20 Best Horror Movies of 2024
Image
When you purchase through our links, we may earn an affiliate commission.

2024 is nearly over, and while we have seen some brilliant horror films come out this year, I don’t think it has been such a great year for the genre. With most horror films flopping at the box office and the dreaded Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey sequel coming out, it all felt wrong. But don’t worry because I have picked out the 18 best horror films that have come out this year. I haven’t ranked the films in the article and I will update the list as more films come out.

How One Big 'Smile 2' Reveal Sets Up 'Smile 3'
Image
The ending of Parker Finn's Smile 2 was a bit of a shock to the audiences who watched the movie and the audience in the actual film. The brutal ending seems to inevitably doom the future of the horror franchise. The ending sequence is bold and daring regarding where it takes the franchise, but Smile 2 and its predecessor subtly present a loophole that could potentially save the next installment from the movie's shocking ending.

Just as Smile did, Smile 2 reveals that a portion of the story took place inside the protagonist's fractured mind. This time around, it's pop star Skye Riley's (Naomi Scott) haunted mind. Nevertheless, only the last ten minutes of Smile take place inside Rose's (Sosie Bacon) mind, but it seems a sizable portion of Smile 2 takes place inside Skye's head.

30 Best Movies To Watch If You Love Saw
Image
While fans wait for Jigsaw's return in Saw XI, they can check out other great horror movies similar to Saw. Every Saw movie follows a clear formula where the Jigsaw killer or his followers place victims in complex, lethal traps, forcing them into intense moral quandaries. While most horror films count on gory kills and sadistic villains, the Saw movies are known for their gruesome deaths that seem straight from someone’s most disturbing nightmares.

Whenever fans discuss torture-based horror movies, the Saw films are often the first to come to mind. Although Saw hasn't pioneered this approach, it undoubtedly made it popular, bringing it into the commercial scene. Most movies like Saw have a little of Saw in them, or they were clear inspirations for James Wan in the first Saw film.

‘Percy Jackson’ Adds Rosemarie DeWitt, Aleks Paunovic in Key Guest Roles (Exclusive)
Rosemarie DeWitt at an event for Sweet Virginia (2017)
Season two of Percy Jackson and the Olympians is adding to its cast, including two actors set for important guest roles.

Rosemarie DeWitt (The Boys, Mad Men) will guest star as C.C., and Aleks Paunovic (Snowpiercer, Van Helsing) has signed on to play the cyclops Polyphemus. Beatrice Kitsos (iZombie) and Kevin Chacon (Jessica Jones) will have recurring roles as demigods aligned with Luke (Charlie Bushnell).

DeWitt’s C.C. is a stylish and composed New Age guru-type whom Percy (Walker Scobell) and Annabeth (Leah Sava Jeffries) encounter in their quest to find the Golden Fleece. She radiates warmth and empathy, but readers of The Sea of Monsters — the book on which season two is based — know there’s more to her than that.

Polyphemus is an ancient cyclops who was blinded by Odysseus long ago. He now tends animals and jealously guards the Golden Fleece on his private island.
