The Flash stood every chance of being a great comic book movie. After Zack Snyder's divisive approach to the Scarlet Speedster, filmmaker Andy Muschietti looked set to get the hero back on track and team him up with Michael Keaton's iconic Batman.
Unfortunately, the movie didn't work. Whether it was Ezra Miller's personal issues overshadowing the character, his zany performance/s, or a lot of bad CGI, The Flash failed to strike a chord with audiences. Even after decent reviews, it flopped with $271 million worldwide.
While it would be incorrect to say The Flash movie was in the shadow of The CW's The Flash, there was an awful lot that TV show did better than Warner Bros.' big screen effort.

Hollywood without Henry Cavill is something many cant or simply dont even want to think about anymore, but there certainly was a time when the actor wasnt a staple in the industry. Henry Cavills acting career started all the way back in 2001 when he first appeared on-screen in the thriller Laguna, which is also known under the title Vendetta. Despite entering the industry over two decades ago, it wasnt until 2007 that Cavill landed his breakout role. As one of the leading actors, he stepped into the role of Charles Brandon in the successful series The Tudors.
Acting alongside well-known names such as Game of Thrones star Natalie Dormer or Outlanders Maria Doyle Kennedy, Cavill was on the right track to achieve fame.

Zack Snyder, with his Man of Steel, presented several actors in diverse roles. But out of the lot, Henry Cavill definitely stands the tallest. While the actor’s physique and acting were well-received, the antagonists of the movie were also not far behind. In this regard, Faora-Ul can definitely give all the other villains a run for their money with her skills and powers.

Superman's killing of General Zod in "Man of Steel" divided viewers, and the same is true for DC comic book writers. Some supporters of the movie cite how Superman has killed before in other media or how Zod's death raised the emotional stakes for Superman. Those who disagree think Man of Steel didn't make the situation feel un-winnable enough without killing or simply don't like the idea of Superman taking a life so early in the Dceu (or at all).
Superman’s controversial killing of General Zod at the end of Man of Steel divided not only Dceu viewers and longtime readers of Superman comics, but also comic creators themselves. The recently-concluded DC Extended Universe began on a divisive note with 2013’s Man of Steel. Warner Bros. Pictures and DC’s The Flash, which hit theaters in June, now has a date for its streaming debut on Max: the superhero pic starring Ezra Miller will bow Friday, August 25.
The film, in which Miller reprised his role as Barry Allen in the superhero’s first stand-alone pic, was highly touted by incoming DC bosses James Gunn and Peter Safran, but it saw a sluggish bow in theaters. It opened to $55.1 million over its first three days domestically, and $64M over the Juneteenth holiday frame. Along with a similarly tepid performance overseas, all those numbers were below expectations for a DC tentpole with a budget of $200M.
The pic, directed by Andy Muschietti, is currently sitting on a $268.5 million global box office total.
Along with Miller, the ensemble cast included Sasha Calle, Michael Shannon, Ron Livingston, Maribel Verdú, Kiersey Clemons, Antje Traue and Michael Keaton.

DC’s latest movie, ‘The Flash,’ was released last month after nine long years of development hell. Although the movie ultimately turned out to be one of the worst box-office failures in the history of this genre, it still got more-or-less decent reviews from fans and more mixed reviews from critics, who praised action sequences and performances but criticized visual effects, and the third act.
Still, the Ezra Miller-starring movie is one of the most unique DC movies to date since it presented itself as some sort of DC’s ‘No Way Home,’ and it featured a ton of cameos, not only from Dceu but from the entire DC Multiverse in general. Although bringing back Christopher Reeve’s Superman via computer-generated imagery sparked controversies, one other Superman that showed up in the movie was Nicolas Cage’s incarnation of the character from a movie that never happened.

Director Andy Muschietti has revealed the tragic reason behind Michael Keaton’s Batman walking away from the cape and cowl in The Flash. And it’s pretty dark. Discussing the DC outing in a new behind-the-scenes featurette released courtesy of Warner Bros. Entertainment, Muschietti explains that Keaton’s Dark Knight decided to retire from being a superhero after killing a criminal in front of their child and thus going against his code and mirroring the event that led him to become Batman in the first place.
"I always said something should happen to Bruce Wayne to want to stop being Batman, and my idea was, he did something that goes against his code and killed a criminal in front of [the criminal's] child—not knowingly, but he still did it."
Muschietti continues, revealing that the reason for Batman’s retirement needed to be heavy enough to make someone as obsessed as Bruce...

‘The Flash’ movie starring Ezra Miller was initially announced in 2014, and after years of development hell and last-minute reshoots due to the change of leadership at DC Studios and the planned soft reboot of the franchise, the movie was finally released last month.

The fact that Cage was there in the flesh begs the question, why does the scene look like it’s fully CGI? The finale of The Flash finally allowed Cage to fulfill...

The multiverse is everywhere. It’s all around us and wherever we go, we seem to be getting stuck in it. From multiple Spider-Man movies, a Doctor Strange Movie, and even an Oscar-winning best picture movie, the multiverse is at its peak. It’s no surprise then, that DC get their turn and in doing so have turned to the world’s fastest superhero, so we can watch him race his way through the DC multiverse.
Ezra Miller returns, despite all they’ve done, all they have been charged with, and all they have been accused of, they find themselves on the big screen as Barry Allen once again. This time Barry Allen uses his super speed to change the past.

This article contains mild spoilers for The Flash
While the new film The Flash is overflowing with special cameos, it seems that Teddy Sears is not among them. In the film, there's a fleeting moment where an alternate Flash can be seen, and he happens to look a lot like Sears' character from the TV series version of The Flash, complete with the winged helmet. That led to some reports out of early screenings that Sears had a cameo, perhaps as a fun way of acknowledging the TV show.
However, that's evidently not Sears at all, but a doppelganger who resembles him. TVLine has confirmed that the character in the film is not Sears, but rather a "generic Golden Age Flash representation" played by an unknown actor. It is not archival footage from the TV series, and Sears has also verified that he didn't shoot any new material from the movie.

Man of Steel is celebrating its 10th anniversary, and numerous elements of the movie continue to hold up years after its release. First hitting theaters on June 14, 2013, Man of Steel stars Henry Cavill as Clark Kent, who comes to discover he is an alien refugee from the planet Krypton, possessing immense physical power and the alien name of Kal-El. A sequel to The Flash could happen should the Andy Muschietti directed, Ezra Miller starring DC outing do well enough at the box office. According to a report by The Wrap, the studio is considering moving ahead with a follow-up using the script that has already been written by Aquaman and Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom scribe David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick.
“’The Flash’ is currently tracking to open around $70 million at the domestic box office. However, the film will have to leg out and come close to what 2021’s “The Batman” grossed worldwide ($770 million) in order to get a sequel off the ground,” the report claims, meaning that The Flash will need to match the takings of director Matt Reeves’ The Batman for The Flash 2 to get the greenlight.
But several questions hang over the prospect of The Flash 2. With James Gunn and Peter Safran’s plans for a renewed Dcu now underway,...

Director Andy Muschietti has talked about his experience of working with actor Ezra Miller, and the latter’s role as the titular protagonist in ‘The Flash’. The director said: “Meeting Ezra was an incredible experience artistically and creatively. I think it’s one of my best experiences of working with an actor. And I found out he is an incredible comedian too, which is something that I wasn’t expecting,” he said.
Andy said: “Of course, Ezra conveyed the humour of Barry Allen in previous movies, but this was a standalone film, where Ezra’s not only the protagonist, but he also plays two versions of Barry which was incredibly challenging.”
“When you see Ezra doing it, he makes it look so easy. And it was a privilege to collaborate with him and see his incredible talent,” he added.

A new report reveals that some at Warner Bros. Pictures were left “bemused” by the marketing for The Flash, and particularly the claims that it will stand as one of the greatest superhero movies ever made. According to The Hollywood Reporter, The Flash being unable to use controversial lead star Ezra Miller for marketing purposes, the studio instead “put the focus on the film itself.”
“They are spending huge, huge. This is a massive campaign,” said an executive familiar with such marketing strategies.
“They are not promoting Flash as a character because they can’t,” says a “rival studio executive” regarding The Flash not being able to put Miller front and center of the campaign. They go on to reveal that the ongoing Writers Guild of America strike may have helped in this regard, with talk shows being shut down and thus making it less obvious that Miller is nowhere...

The Flash director Andy Muschietti has now been confirmed as the “top choice” to helm the upcoming Batman movie, The Brave and the Bold. The DC outing will reboot The Dark Knight for James Gunn and Peter Safran’s recalibrated Dcu, introducing a new version of the superhero icon as he fights crime and attempts to build relationship with his estranged son, Damian.
The Hollywood Reporter has now stated that multiple sources have informed them of Gunn and Safran’s intention to keep Muschietti in the DC family following the release of The Flash. “He is the top choice to direct Batman feature The Brave and the Bold, multiple sources tell THR,” the report from THR reads, however there has not been an official offer at this time. “Though there is no script — and thus no formal commitment from the filmmaker — until one materializes post-writers strike,” the report concludes.

The reviews for the long, long, long-awaited DC outing, The Flash, are now in. So, following the much publicized praise from the likes of James Gunn, Tom Cruise, and Stephen King, does The Flash reach the heights of being “one of the greatest superhero movies ever made.” Well, not quite, is the frustrating answer, as The Flash sprints to a ‘Fresh’ score of 73% on the review aggregator site Rotten Tomatoes.
We begin with MovieWeb’s own Julian Roman, who heaped praise on The Flash and how it gives DC fans exactly what they’ve been looking for.
“Ezra Miller saves the Snyderverse in a stunning superhero adaptation that gloriously lives up to the hype. The Flash is the DC film that fans have been aching to see.”
Much hype has surrounded the return of Michael Keaton’s Batman in The Flash and, according to Julian, it was well worth it.

Ten years after Michael Shannon played Zod in Zack Snyder's Man of Steel, the actor will reprise the role as a variant of the supervillain in The Flash. Ahead of the premiere, Shannon reminisced about his debut as Zod back in 2013. As Barbara Muschietti explains it...

With multiversal madness on the mind, Andy Muschietti chimed in, believing that somewhere out there exists a version of The Flash without Michael Keaton’s Batman. Perhaps it has George Clooney’s Batman variant instead.
