Exclusive: Isabel Hagen’s Indie dramedy On A String just wrapped principal photography in New York City.
Musician-turned-comedian Hagen (writer-director) stars alongside Dylan Baker, Frederick Weller, Eric Bogosian & Emmy Winner Jamie Lee (HBO’s Crashing). Concert violinist and author Ling Ling Huang (Natural Beauty) also stars with newcomer John Kroner and Charlotte Ray Rosenberg. Hagen is known for her late-night appearances on Jimmy Fallon, and as a New Face of Comedy in 2019 for the Just for Laughs Festival in Montreal.
Inspired by Hagen’s real-life experiences, the pic follows a recent Juilliard graduate and classical violist (Hagen) who now plays unconventional gigs in New York City that insert her into the personal lives of strangers and entangle her with the married father (Weller) of her violin student.

Exclusive: Spotlight casting director Paul Schnee is making his directorial debut in a comedy-drama TV series.
Schnee has directed all episodes of Mother, May I Have a Kidney?, which comes from Filipino-American showrunner Veronica Reyes-How, who is also writing. Schnee’s casting credits also include Winter’s Bone and The Girl on the Train. Production just wrapped.
The show stars Doug Plaut (Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt), Emmy winner Tina Benko (The Greatest Showman), Darius de Haas (The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel), Charlotte Ray Rosenberg and Troy Iwata, and also features Myra Lucretia Taylor, Lydia Gaston, and Drew McVety.

Miami Music Week is just around the corner, but Protocol Recordings signees Florian Picasso and Blinders want to get you in the mood for the festivities early. The two progressive house artists have compiled a mix titled Miami 2016 sure to make you feel like you’re already at one of the city’s sunny beach parties.
Tracks like the Ben Lemonz remix of Volt & State’s “Sandcastles” and Arno Cost’s “Coming Alive” set a melodic tone at the beginning of mix, but its energy continually rises. The middle part is characterized more by big room bangers with massive synth leads and monstrous bass kicks, with more of an emphasis on singalong anthems near the end.

Regency Enterprises' Little Manhattan, set for release by 20th Century Fox, will have its New York premiere at an outdoor screening Aug. 27, the closing night of the third annual Central Park Film Festival, hosted by the Central Park Conservancy. A romantic comedy set in Manhattan and shot entirely in New York, the film, written by Jennifer Flackett and directed by Mark Levin, stars Josh Hutcherson, Charlie Ray, Cynthia Nixon and Bradley Whitford. It opens theatrically Sept. 30.
