"Have you seen it out there? The city's a mess... the people could use a hero." Yes they could. How about a noir detective hero? Amazon MGM Studios has revealed a first look teaser trailer with 30 seconds of footage from the Spider-Noir series, a spin-off story inspired by the Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse movies. Spider-Noir brings the Spider-Man Noir character into live-action, bringing Nicolas Cage (who also voiced the character in the animated movies) to the screen playing this version of Peter Parker. An aging and down on his luck private investigator in 1930s New York is forced to grapple with his past life as the city's one & only superhero. Executive producer Chris Miller also tweeted: "It's true. Spider-Noir is coming to Amazon Prime in 2026. Live-action, in black & white, set in the 1930s, and Nicolas Cage is a delight, as is the rest of the cast. The show is really special.

With the first Ironheart teaser expected to be released tomorrow and Superman's trailer confirmed for Wednesday, it's shaping up to be a busy week for news.
As for Monday, we're kicking things off with an official look at Nicolas Cage's Spider-Man in Amazon and MGM+'s Spider-Noir TV series.
The wall-crawling private investigator has already been spotted in set photos, but this spectacular black-and-white image is like seeing the comic books—and 2018's Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse—come to life in live-action.
Cage can be seen striking an iconic Spider-Man pose and will clearly be able to shoot webs in the show. Whether Spider-Noir can right the ship for Sony after disappointments like Madame Web, Morbius, and Kraven the Hunter remains to be seen.

This year marks the 20th anniversary of Batman Begins and the 25th anniversary of Memento. The common denominator is, you guessed it, Christopher Nolan. During his incredible career so far, the Oscar-winning filmmaker has become known as a director who likes to collaborate with the same actors on multiple projects, even those in supporting roles. As well as the likes of Michael Caine, Kenneth Branagh and Anne Hathaway, Sons of Anarchy star Mark Boone Junior is another star to have worked with Nolan on more than one occasion.
MovieWeb recently caught up with the actor amid the release of his new film, I'm Beginning to See the Light. Having starred in both of Nolan's movies celebrating a milestone birthday this year, Boone took a moment to reflect on working with a master of the craft.

One thing I love about my job here at JoBlo is I’m constantly exposed to films that I may have otherwise passed over. And with a very generic poster (which you can see below), it would have been easy to have Unit 234 pass me by. But I’m here to tell you to not make that mistake, as the film is actually a pretty fun little thriller. Check out my review Here!

Plot: When a group of criminals comes to collect the contents of a storage unit, the woman running the storage facility has to play a game of cat and mouse to escape with her life.
Review: Sometimes movies have to overcome really bad posters in order to get a fair shot. That’s certainly true when it comes to Unit 234, a thriller about a woman who’s stuck in a storage facility and has to escape the criminals who want the contents of a specific unit. But the poster tells me nothing other than it stars, and a dead body on a gurney. What is supposed to intrigue me about that? Especially when the film itself is a fun little thriller with an ending you won’t see coming?

Exclusive: Shia Labeouf is set to star in God of the Rodeo, with Giannina Scott producing through her Cara Films banner and Ridley Scott and Michael Pruss producing through Scott Free Films. The crime thriller was written and directed by Rosalind Ross and is based on the reporting of Daniel Bergner inside the deadliest prison in the American South.
Set against the brutal backdrop of Louisiana’s Angola Prison in 1967, God of the Rodeo tells the story of Buckkey, a hardened inmate serving a life sentence who finds a glimmer of redemption in an unlikely opportunity: the prison’s first-ever inmate rodeo. As Buckkey and his fellow inmates prepare for a last grasp at glory, they’re confronted with the reality that the rodeo is nothing more than a gladiatorial showcase — a grueling fight for survival designed to satiate the public’s bloodlust and fulfill the warden’s delusion of godliness.

Andy Tennant’s Unit 234 isn’t an ordinary action thriller, as Isabelle Fuhrman’s Laurie finds a man named Clayton (Jack Huston) lying on a gurney and locked inside a storage unit. The film weaves, winds, and takes unexpected turns as Don Johnson’s Jules and his men seek out Clayton at the storage facility, but what do they want with him? It’s best you watch the film to find out for yourself, because no spoilers here! Fortress of Solitude received time to pick Tennant’s brain about Unit 234. The filmmaker – who directed Hitch, Fool’s Gold, The Bounty Hunter, and Anna and the King – revealed how the movie subverts the traditional action thriller genre and the special difference that Fuhrman made behind the scenes when they were shooting in the Cayman Islands. Fortress of Solitude: I really enjoyed the tribute to your filmography as Laurie watches the TV in the office.

Unit 234 imagines a unique scenario. You walk into a storage unit, where there’s a stranger locked to a gurney and he has stitches in the area where his kidney would be. There’s also a group of menacing men in the facility lurking around and trying to get to him – and the leader of the pack has a bad, bloody cough. Your mind races to the natural conclusion: organ harvesting. This is what happens to Isabelle Fuhrman’s Laurie who needs to help Clayton (Jack Huston) avoid the clutches of Don Johnson’s Jules and his men. It also doesn’t help that the weather conditions are terrible, so this action thriller turns into a gripping cat-and-mouse chase – until it doesn’t. The story is the juice Image Credit: Brainstorm Media As it stands, Derek Steiner’s script introduces something different to the genre. This takes place in a...

It’s not a surprise if no one has ever heard about Emilia Clarke starring in the 2019 crime thriller movie Above Suspicion, directed by Phillip Noyce. Perhaps, to this day, only a handful have seen it. Well, it’s nothing like her role in Game of Thrones, but it’s still dark, gritty, and quite depressing.
Based on Joe Sharkey’s non-fiction book about the killing of Susan Smith, Above Suspicion tells the harrowing experiences of a drug addict woman who became an FBI informant after meeting a rookie agent. Her affair with the criminologist would lead to a downward spiral of betrayal, violence, and death.

Adam Pearson, who starred alongside Sebastian Stan in A24’s comic noir A Different Man, is getting back in the spotlight to play Joseph Merrick, the Elephant Man, in Jack Huston‘s upcoming film about the kind-hearted man behind the inspiring tale of beauty only being skin deep. Huston’s The Elephant Man is an adaptation of Bernard Pomerance’s Tony-winning play, with Bernard’s son, Moby Pomerance, penning the screenplay.
Pomerance’s play focuses on the diaries of Dr. Frederick Treves, Merrick’s physician, and his time practicing at the London Hospital. Pomerance’s play became a crowd favorite after its first run in the West End in London in 1977. The play eventually moved to an Off-Broadway production, around the same time David Lynch directed his version of The Elephant Man, though Lynch’s film did not adapt Pomerance’s play. Whatever you think about Shia Labeouf, his intensity and commitment is unquestionable, and he's not afraid to be outspoken. Labeouf's interesting career path was diverted among a variety of scandals and allegations, and you could hardly call it a comeback when he returned in 2023 with the film Padre Pio. Which is a shame, because he gives a great performance, and Abel Ferrara always creates fascinating films. It was perhaps just too niche a movie to give the former Transformers star the spotlight again. That likely won't change with his next movie, Salvable, which recently released its first trailer. You can watch the trailer for the film, also starring Toby Kebbell, below:

I’m really looking forward to Nicolas Cage’s Spider-Noir, and one actor on the series has teased that it could double down on the film noir aspect. While speaking with ComingSoon.net, Lukas Haas said Spider-Noir could be released in black-and-white. I’d be into that.
“We filmed it in — I think it may come out in both black and white and color, but when we filmed it, the monitors were all black and white, so you got this feeling and it looked very, very authentic,” Haas said. “To the point that I would actually go and look at the monitor and think I was looking at some older footage, but it was actually just a monitor of what was on the camera at the time. They did a beautiful job with the filters and all that stuff, making it look like genuine old 1930s, black and white film.

Gravitas Ventures has acquired U.S. and Canadian rights to Konstantin Khudyakov’s “I’m Beginning To See the Light” from Hoody Films. Starring Jack Huston, Abbie Cornish, Brandon T. Jackson, Jamie Chung, Lucy Punch, and Mark Boone Junior, the film is set for digital and cable video on-demand release in May.
Set against a “hauntingly beautiful coastal backdrop,” “I’m Beginning to See the Light” stars Huston as Ezra, a jazz musician who seeking solace in a remote lighthouse after losing his family in an unexpected tragedy. Becoming the lighthouse’s new keeper, Ezra “encounters kindred lost souls, each grappling with their own pasts,” according to a press release. “Through music, memory, and human connection, he begins to find new meaning in life.”
“I’ve always wanted to make a film about jazz and how music has the potential to help a person overcome grief and rediscover meaning in life,” said director Konstantin Khudyakov.

David Lynch is widely regarded as one of the greatest filmmakers of all time, known for classics like Twin Peaks and The Elephant Man. The latter, in particular, remains one of the most poignant biopics ever made, telling the tragic tale of Joseph Merrick, the deformed Victorian-era artist known as "The Elephant Man." Now, Jack Huston, well-known for his acting roles in Boardwalk Empire and American Hustle, is set to helm the upcoming remake of David Lynch's 1980s biopic, honoring the legacy of the late filmmaker who passed away in January 2025.
Backed by Phoenix Pictures, the film will be titled Joseph Merrick, and Kate Cohen, David Dobkin, and Mike Medavoy will produce it. While many adaptations have explored Merrick's life, David Lynch's 1980 film, starring John Hurt, remains the best version yet, earning eight Academy Award nominations, including Best Picture and Best Director.
