Exclusive: Marvel’s Moon Knight Director Mohamed Diab has revealed fresh details about his new feature Lion, starring Egyptian megastar Mohamed Ramadan in a role inspired by Ancient Rome rebel slave Spartacus.

Diab has revealed very little about the new movie, which was originally announced under the title of Black Lion and is being billed as his most ambitious Arab-language production to date.

Paradigm has hired Kyle Jensen as a Literary Content Agent and Jamie Kaye-Phillips as a Theatre Literary Content Agent, upping Matthew Nutty from Coordinator to Agent in the Talent department.

Additionally, Napoli Management Group, a division of Paradigm Media Entertainment, has tapped Brian Neal as an agent. A 23-year veteran of the television news industry, he’ll in his new role rep all levels of on-air talent in the national broadcast news space.

Jensen and Nutty will be based out of the agency’s Los Angeles office, with Kaye-Phillips working out of New York. Where Neal will be based is not yet clear.

The hirings follow December’s announcement that Todd Eisner, a 30-year veteran talent agent, had joined Paradigm from the now-folded A3. Morel’s “The Blacksmith” is based on a graphic novel from Kickstart Comics by Malik Evans and Richard Sparkman and follows a weapons expert who must go on the run from killers who murdered his colleagues.

“Source Code” and “Flatliners” writer Ben Ripley adapted the graphic novel. Agc Studios and Jon Shestack will produce along with Kickstart Productions’ Jason Netter and Jeremy Stein. Agc’s Ford and Linda McDonough are executive producing, as will Samantha Shear and Bob Sobhani.

When his clandestine lab is destroyed and his colleagues murdered, he must go on the run with only his unique set of technological skills and the help of a brilliant, young CIA analyst Noelle Hazlitt to keep him alive. They seek out Mather (Fishburne), a retired blacksmith and Wes’ mentor, to help guide them.”

Casting for the female lead Hazlitt is underway and Agc is aiming for a late 2020 production start on the movie which it hopes will be the start of a new action franchise.

Taken director Pierre Morel is set to direct a new action-thriller called The Blacksmith. It’s an adaptation of a graphic novel that was created by Malik Evans and Richard Sparkman, and the screenplay was written by Ben Ripley (Source Code).

The Blacksmith tells the story of Wes Loomis, “a go-to weapons expert or the intelligence community. When his clandestine lab is destroyed and his colleagues murdered, Wes must go on the run with only his unique set of technological skills to keep him alive, in a journey that takes him to the heart of his own dark profession.”

Pierre Morel, the director of “Taken,” is set to direct an action thriller film based on the graphic novel “The Blacksmith,” it was announced Thursday by the film’s producer Jon Shestack and financier Stuart Ford of Agc Studios.

“The Blacksmith” is based on a 2011 graphic novel by Malik Evans and Richard Sparkman that tells the story of a go-to weapons expert who goes on the run after his lab is destroyed and his colleagues are murdered. He must use his unique set of skills to keep him alive and journey through the heart of his own dark profession.

Ben Ripley adapted the screenplay. Shestack (“Air Force One”) will produce with Jason Netter and Jeremy Stein. Ford is executive producing on behalf of his Agc Studios. Samantha Shear and Bob Sobhani will also executive produce.

Production is set to begin on “The Blacksmith” in 2020.

20th Century Fox just picked up the film rights to author Stuart Gibbs‘ book series Spy School and they plan on adapting it into a feature film franchise. Gibbs is set to write the script for the film, which will be based on the first novel in the series. Here’s the description of the story that it tells:

Danish director Niels Arden Oplev is still best known for The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (what, you mean you don’t remember Dead Man Down?), and he brings the same flat, TV movie aesthetic to this “sequel” to Joel Schumacher’s 1990 sci-horror. The original’s high concept plot is retained and given a 21st century makeover – although it’s still as hokey and dumb as Schumacher’s film, and once again fails to capitalise on its central conceit.

The premise of Flatliners is that a young med student, Courtney (Ellen Page), comes up with the bright idea of having her heart stopped, then started again, under controlled conditions. She employs the help of a group of fellow students, who see the experiment as a shortcut to bountiful medical careers.

It's the most ambitious time of their lives, but a group of med students find out the hard way that being too eager can come with consequences, especially when you cross the line between life and death. The remake of the 1990's Flatliners remake is getting torn apart by critics and moviegoers, resulting in a zero percent "fresh" rating on Rotten Tomatoes, based off of 20 reviews as of this writing. Currently the movie is projecting to make between $5 and $8 million dollars at the box office this weekend with a budget of $19 million dollars, which is not a good sign for a movie that some are calling "the definition of meh." It isn't clear if the studio signed a Do Not Resuscitate contract because it looks as if the Flatliners has flat lined.
