Mark Ballas makes an electrifying return to Dancing with the Stars after a two-year hiatus. However, the three-time mirrorball winner will not be performing. He will sit alongside judges Carrie Ann Inaba, Derek Hough, and Bruno Tonioli to share his ballroom expertise as the remaining nine celebrities compete during “Dedication Night.”
Mark Ballas won three mirrorball trophies before stepping back as a pro
Mark Ballas debuted on Dancing with the Stars in 2007 during season 5, and was paired with actress Sabrina Bryan. He remained a fan-favorite pro throughout 20 seasons. Ballas won mirrorballs in season 6 with figure skater Kristi Yamaguchi, season 8 with gymnast Shawn Johnson, and season 31 with social media star Charli D’Amelio.
Ballas was the only pro to make the finals 11 times. He also holds the 4-time record for second-place finishes with celebrity partners Katherine Jenkins, Sadie Robertson, Paige VanZant, and Lindsey Stirling.

It’s been almost been 20 years since Doctor Who was revived for a new audience, and the show has brought us lots of Christmas and New Years specials since then. Although Christopher Eccleston rang in this new era with his Ningth Doctor in 2005, David Tennant's Tenth Doctor was the first to star in a holiday special.
We're going to rank every holiday special of the New Who era, including the New Years specials produced during Jodie Whittaker's run as the Thirteenth Doctor. Let's begin!

While “Resolution” is certainly a visually impressive episode, it's dragged down by a lack of urgency and imagination. This is the first time we see Thirteen meet Daleks.

Will Grammy-winner Jason Mraz win the Len Goodman Mirror Ball Trophy this season on “Dancing with the Stars”? He’s one of five finalists headed into the December 5 season finale, and he’s the latest in a long line of successful recording artists who have appeared on the show.

It’s hard to know how musicians will do on “DWTS.” Given their professional experience, they usually have a natural sense of rhythm and musicality, but they don’t always have prior dance experience, and they don’t always make it far in the competition. Sometimes they fall short like Spice Girls member Melanie C, “American Idol” champ Jordin Sparks and R&b star Tinashe, often because viewer voters let them down.

Things are looking more exciting for Doctor Who than they have in a very long time. Yes, we’ve got David Tennant and Catherine Tate back for the specials, but that’s already old news. What we’re excited about is what happens next. Russell T Davies at the helm of the show he brought back from the dead, not just celebrating anniversaries or reliving past glories, but taking the show in a bold new direction with the 15th, that’s right 15th Doctor Ncuti Gatwa holding the Tardis keys.
Davies is in a position to take the show to places it has never been before. To tell stories in exciting new ways. And as far as we are concerned, there is one way to use that opportunity that simply cannot be passed up.

The Masked Singer is back, with fans tuning in every Saturday night to try to guess which celebrity is behind each costume.
Comedian Joel Dommett has returned to host proceedings, with 13 mystery stars singing familiar songs on stage, while dressed up in an outfit obscuring their identity.
Guessing along with the in-studio audience and the viewers at home are the judges: Mo Gilligan, Davina McCall, Rita Ora and Jonathan Ross.
One way to help narrow things down is checking out who’s been on the series before – as it seems unlikely they’d return to the show (although not impossible).
So here’s a full list of who appeared on seasons one, two, three and four…
Season one
Winner: Nicola Roberts – Queen Bee
Jason Manford – Hedgehog
Katherine Jenkins – Octopus
CeeLo Green – Monster
Denise van Outen – Fox
Jake Shears – Unicorn
Skin – Duck
Kelis – Daisy
Teddy Sheringham – Tree

On Friday, August 19, 2022 Amy and Gary Green are hosting an evening fundraiser at their home in Bridgehampton, New York to support the philanthropic and conservation efforts of the African Community & Conservation Fund (Accf) and Tusk, a UK-based charity headed up by Royal Patron, Prince William.
The “Karibu Africa” soireé will raise money to help Accf’s and Tusk’s many community outreach programs, wildlife protection and anti-poaching efforts, including initiatives to improve livelihoods and combat rising food poverty in East & Southern Africa, particularly Tanzania, Rwanda, Mozambique and Zimbabwe.
Covid-19 devastated jobs and livelihoods across the African continent, and with few economic recovery resources, decades of conservation and community upliftment success has been put at risk. Moreover, Russia’s war in Ukraine has collaterally created a global food crisis, as wheat and other grain shipments to Africa have been cut off or dangerously delayed.

Eyebrows have been raised with the announcement that the Tom Cruise will host part of the celebration – but can anything see off the Gardeners’ World heavyweight?

"We need global attention." "With you, we have a better chance." Goldwyn Films has released an official US trailer for the film Minamata, made by filmmaker / artist Andrew Levitas. This originally premiered at the 2020 Berlin Film Festival last year, and has taken all this time to get released. The film tells the story of the final days and final work of famed war photographer W. Eugene Smith, played by Johnny Depp. Smith travels to Japan in the 70s where he embeds himself in a small town and documents the devastating effects of mercury poisoning in communities due to a greedy corporation dumping toxic chemicals and denying it. A powerful story about the impact of photojournalism. Also with Hiroyuki Sanada, Tadanobu Asano, Katherine Jenkins, Jun Kunimura, Lily Robinson, Ryo Kase, Akiko Iwase, Minami, plus Bill Nighy. I watched this at Berlinale and loved it, writing in my review: "there's something wondrous and yet compellingly authentic.

European Film Awards Head Online
The 33rd European Film Awards have pivoted to a virtual ceremony as the pandemic continues to disrupt international travel plans. Scheduled to take place on December 12 in Reykjavik, the event will now go fully digital for this year, before returning to the Icelandic capital in 2021. Organizers of the European Film Academy said they are working on a concept for a week of additional online-events to involve its partners and members. Nominations for the awards will be announced online on November 10. “The decision was not easy but it was made with responsibility and out of care for our guests. No one is more disappointed than our Icelandic friends and we, at Efa, that we will not be able to come together in Reykjavik this year,” said Efa Chairman Mike Downey.

Vertigo Releasing has acquired the UK and Irish distribution rights and launched a trailer for ‘Minamata’ featuring Johnny Depp.
New York, 1971. Following his celebrated days as one of the most revered photojournalists of World War II, W. Eugene Smith (Johnny Depp) has become a recluse, disconnected from society and his career. But a secret commission from Life magazine editor Robert Hayes (Bill Nighy) sends him to the Japanese coastal city of Minamata, which has been ravaged by mercury poisoning; the result of decades of gross industrial negligence by the country’s Chisso Corporation.
There, Smith immerses himself in the community, documenting their efforts to live with Minamata Disease and their passionate campaign to achieve recognition from Chisso and the Japanese government. Armed with only his trusted camera, Smith’s images from the toxic village give the disaster a heartbreaking human dimension, and his initial assignment turns into a life-changing experience.

"You cannot let your emotions run the show." An official international trailer has debuted for the true story drama Minamata, made by American filmmaker / artist Andrew Levitas. This originally premiered at the Berlin Film Festival earlier this year, and still doesn't have a US release set yet. The film tells the story of the final days and final work of famed war photographer W. Eugene Smith, played by Johnny Depp. Smith travels back to Japan in the 70s where he embeds himself in a small town and documents the devastating effect of mercury poisoning in coastal communities due to a greedy corporation dumping toxic chemicals and denying it. A powerful story about the impact of photojournalism. Also starring Hiroyuki Sanada, Tadanobu Asano, Katherine Jenkins, Jun Kunimura, Lily Robinson, Ryo Kase, Akiko Iwase, Minami, plus Bill Nighy. I watched this at Berlinale and loved it, writing in my review: "there's something...

The Queen is to mark the 75th anniversary of Victory in Europe (V.E.) Day next week with a televised address in the U.K.
The monarch’s pre-recorded address will be broadcast on the BBC on May 8 at 9 p.m. BST in what will be her second televised message during the coronavirus outbreak.
The Queen’s rare address last month was seen by 24 million viewers, and ended with the words “we will meet again” — a reference to Dame Vera Lynn’s bolstering war anthem “We’ll Meet Again.”
The speech on May 8 will form part of a program of commemorations to mark the end of the Second World War after the original outdoor plans — such as street parties and parades — were canceled because of the coronavirus outbreak. Celebrations will instead take place in gardens, on doorsteps and in living rooms.
The BBC will broadcast special programs to mark the milestone occasion.

Matt Smith and Peter Capaldi starred in four Doctor Who Christmas specials each. We revisit Steven Moffat's festive scripts...
This article comes from Den of Geek UK.
Steven Moffat’s first Christmas-y contribution to Doctor Who comes near the end of his second episode, The Doctor Dances, when Rose Tyler compares a jolly Doctor to Santa Claus. “Who says I’m not, red bicycle when you were 12?” comes the cheeky reply.
Comparisons between the Doctor and Father Christmas go all the way back to Moffat’s Comic Relief sketch The Curse Of Fatal Death and continue all the way throughout his tenure as head writer and executive producer, particularly in his seasonal specials. Having inherited the tradition, he upheld it very well.
Like Russell T. Davies before him, Moffat didn’t treat the Christmas special as a trifle or a passing fancy, but as a proper episode of Doctor Who.

Tonya Harding would probably tell you herself she’s the underdog in the “Dancing with the Stars: Athletes” final three. No one, not even she, thought she’d get this far. Our odds have her finishing in third, behind Josh Norman and frontrunner Adam Rippon, which would be a very good and respectable placement for someone many thought would and wanted to get the boot in the first episode. But could she actually go even further and claim the Mirrorball trophy? “Dancing” history shows that, more often than not, the final two tends to be a his-and-her battle.
In the show’s previous 25 seasons, 17 final twos have come down to a female and a male celebrity. The longest streak was eight seasons, from Season 5 through 12. Of these 17, the woman prevailed 10 times. While each season is a very specific case, this data isn’t that shocking; female dancers — whether the pro...

While female Olympians have struck Mirrorball glory on “Dancing with the Stars,” it’s a different story for the dudes. The most successful male athletes on the show are football players. Shocking, right? (Not.) Of the 10 athletes that have won “Dancing” in its first 25 seasons, six were men and four of those men were pigskin players. So you can probably book a football player or two for the upcoming “Dancing with the Stars: Athletes.” But which of these six champs has your vote?
The first male athlete to win “Dancing” was Dallas Cowboys great Emmitt Smith, who won Season 3 in 2006 with Cheryl Burke over Mario Lopez and Karina Smirnoff, who outscored Smith and Burke during the season. Smith and Burke reteamed for the all-star season and finished fourth.

Hosted by son Prince Charles and his wife Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, and surrounded by grandchildren including Prince William and wife Princess Kate and Prince Harry, the Queen watched the Royal Windsor Horse Show in the grounds of Windsor Castle.

It's finally here, dance fans! It's the big blowout 10th anniversary celebration of "Dancing with the Stars," as they remind us of some of the wild, crazy, awkward, painful, and stellar moments of the past 20 seasons. There's a lot jam packed into this special, as past contestants and winners return to share in the fun.
During resident-opening-number-choreographer Mandy Moore's exciting first group routine, lots of stars return, hosts Tom Bergeron and Erin Andrews fly in on a giant "10," and the four judges, Carrie Ann Inaba, Bruno Tonioli, Len Goodman, and Julianne Hough, make their grand entrance. Lots of cutaways to the audience show many other past stars who have returned but are apparently not dancing tonight, like Sabrina Bryan, who we're reminded of also by last night's shocking elimination. Like Willow last night, Sabrina was a frontrunner in both of her seasons (5 and All-Star season 15), but she was eliminated in week 6 both times.

Ten years and 20 seasons of Dancing with the Stars culminated in Tuesday's special, an anniversary spectacular filled with as many sequins and skin-baring outfits as a fan would expect.

Oh yes, there are hard feelings for Jeffrey Ross when it comes to his time on Dancing with the Stars.
The Comedy Central roaster told People at Tuesday's 10th anniversary celebration that he wanted to stay on the seventh season of DWTS, despite how his partner Edyta Sliwinska accidentally scratched his cornea during rehearsals. Alas, the judges and the viewers decided to boot him instead.
"I thought I was going to win," the 49-year-old comedian said.
Ross was particularly pouty because he lost out to Cloris Leachman.
"She wasn't even dancing," Ross said. "Her partner dragged her around the dance floor.
