Image
Welsh TV presenter presenter Gethin Jones says he was banned from Hinge after the dating app received more than 300 complaints from people who thought he was catfishing (impersonating someone else online with intent to deceive) on the platform.

The BBC presenter told the Restless Natives podcast hosts Martin Compston and Gordon Smart he was “kicked off” the platform twice for violating its codes of conduct.

Jones said: “I should know better to not verify my account.

“The moment when I have to write to Hinge, ‘Dear Hinge’ on a Thursday night, on your own, writing to an online dating app. ‘Hi it’s Gethin here, 46. I just want to get my money back because it’s not really working for me,’ eating some cereal because I hadn’t got some food in.

“That was when I was like ‘what am I doing with my life’.”

BBC News asked Hinge to comment.

The Highest-Scoring Celebrities Ever On 'Dancing With The Stars'
Image
Many celebrities love a good challenge. One of the ways they express this desire to be challenged is by participating in Dancing With the Stars.

Back in 2017, Shark Tank mogul Barbara Corcoran took the challenge in her 60s. She had a bad time with the audience, an ordeal that brought back memories of her dyslexic past.

The truth is, its actually a good place for me to come from. Everything good came because I know I had to bounce back up.

Though she had one of the lowest scores on the show, by simply taking on the challenge, shes way ahead for simply trying.

Through the show, some celebrities have had the most terrific of times and gone on to record exceptional scores. Not without a bit of sweat, though. Here are the highest-scoring celebrities on Dancing with the Stars.

Every New Doctor Who Christmas and New Years special, ranked
Image
It’s been almost been 20 years since Doctor Who was revived for a new audience, and the show has brought us lots of Christmas and New Years specials since then. Although Christopher Eccleston rang in this new era with his Ningth Doctor in 2005, David Tennant's Tenth Doctor was the first to star in a holiday special.

We're going to rank every holiday special of the New Who era, including the New Years specials produced during Jodie Whittaker's run as the Thirteenth Doctor. Let's begin!

The Doctor: Jodie Whitaker, the Thirteenth Doctor

Director: Chris Chibnall

While “Resolution” is certainly a visually impressive episode, it's dragged down by a lack of urgency and imagination. This is the first time we see Thirteen meet Daleks.

Will Jason Mraz be the latest musician to win ‘Dancing with the Stars’?
Image
Will Grammy-winner Jason Mraz win the Len Goodman Mirror Ball Trophy this season on “Dancing with the Stars”? He’s one of five finalists headed into the December 5 season finale, and he’s the latest in a long line of successful recording artists who have appeared on the show.

SEEJason Mraz was meme-worthy throughout ‘Monster Night’ on ‘Dancing with the Stars’ [Watch]

It’s hard to know how musicians will do on “DWTS.” Given their professional experience, they usually have a natural sense of rhythm and musicality, but they don’t always have prior dance experience, and they don’t always make it far in the competition. Sometimes they fall short like Spice Girls member Melanie C, “American Idol” champ Jordin Sparks and R&b star Tinashe, often because viewer voters let them down.

But multiple music stars have won the Mirror Ball Trophy in seasons past: 98 Degrees member Drew Lachey,...

It’s Time Doctor Who Did a Musical Episode
Image
Things are looking more exciting for Doctor Who than they have in a very long time. Yes, we’ve got David Tennant and Catherine Tate back for the specials, but that’s already old news. What we’re excited about is what happens next. Russell T Davies at the helm of the show he brought back from the dead, not just celebrating anniversaries or reliving past glories, but taking the show in a bold new direction with the 15th, that’s right 15th Doctor Ncuti Gatwa holding the Tardis keys.

Davies is in a position to take the show to places it has never been before. To tell stories in exciting new ways. And as far as we are concerned, there is one way to use that opportunity that simply cannot be passed up.

Yes, it is time for Doctor Who: The Musical Episode.

The Tardis, by design, is...

Star-Studded Hamptons Soireé to Raise Funds for Community and Conservation in Africa
Image
On Friday, August 19, 2022 Amy and Gary Green are hosting an evening fundraiser at their home in Bridgehampton, New York to support the philanthropic and conservation efforts of the African Community & Conservation Fund (Accf) and Tusk, a UK-based charity headed up by Royal Patron, Prince William.

The “Karibu Africa” soireé will raise money to help Accf’s and Tusk’s many community outreach programs, wildlife protection and anti-poaching efforts, including initiatives to improve livelihoods and combat rising food poverty in East & Southern Africa, particularly Tanzania, Rwanda, Mozambique and Zimbabwe.

Covid-19 devastated jobs and livelihoods across the African continent, and with few economic recovery resources, decades of conservation and community upliftment success has been put at risk. Moreover, Russia’s war in Ukraine has collaterally created a global food crisis, as wheat and other grain shipments to Africa have been cut off or dangerously delayed.

Cruise v Titchmarsh: a right royal smackdown at the Queen’s platinum jubilee
Tom Cruise at an event for Top Gun: Maverick (2022)
Eyebrows have been raised with the announcement that the Tom Cruise will host part of the celebration – but can anything see off the Gardeners’ World heavyweight?

At this stage it’s honestly hard to know what the Queen thinks of her imminent platinum jubilee. On the one hand, the outpouring of patriotic pageantry will provide a perfect distraction from all the terrible things her family keeps doing. But on the other, she’s going to have to sit through an awful lot of faff.

This week, the centrepiece of this faff was announced. Set within the grounds of Windsor Castle, the Queen’s platinum jubilee celebration will take place in front of a live audience of 4,000, and reportedly cover 400 years of British history. Helen Mirren will play Queen Elizabeth I and deliver a speech from 1588. There will be a long section about the Gunpowder Plot. There will be a lot of horses; 500 of them,...

Johnny Depp is a Photojournalist in Official US Trailer for 'Minamata'
Johnny Depp and Minami in Minamata (2020)
"We need global attention." "With you, we have a better chance." Goldwyn Films has released an official US trailer for the film Minamata, made by filmmaker / artist Andrew Levitas. This originally premiered at the 2020 Berlin Film Festival last year, and has taken all this time to get released. The film tells the story of the final days and final work of famed war photographer W. Eugene Smith, played by Johnny Depp. Smith travels to Japan in the 70s where he embeds himself in a small town and documents the devastating effects of mercury poisoning in communities due to a greedy corporation dumping toxic chemicals and denying it. A powerful story about the impact of photojournalism. Also with Hiroyuki Sanada, Tadanobu Asano, Katherine Jenkins, Jun Kunimura, Lily Robinson, Ryo Kase, Akiko Iwase, Minami, plus Bill Nighy. I watched this at Berlinale and loved it, writing in my review: "there's something wondrous and yet compellingly authentic.

The 33rd European Film Awards have pivoted to a virtual ceremony as the pandemic continues to disrupt international travel plans. Scheduled to take place on December 12 in Reykjavik, the event will now go fully digital for this year, before returning to the Icelandic capital in 2021. Organizers of the European Film Academy said they are working on a concept for a week of additional online-events to involve its partners and members. Johnny Depp and Minami in Minamata (2020)
First International Trailer for 'Minamata' Film Starring Johnny Depp
Johnny Depp and Minami in Minamata (2020)
"You cannot let your emotions run the show." An official international trailer has debuted for the true story drama Minamata, made by American filmmaker / artist Andrew Levitas. This originally premiered at the Berlin Film Festival earlier this year, and still doesn't have a US release set yet. The film tells the story of the final days and final work of famed war photographer W. Eugene Smith, played by Johnny Depp. Smith travels back to Japan in the 70s where he embeds himself in a small town and documents the devastating effect of mercury poisoning in coastal communities due to a greedy corporation dumping toxic chemicals and denying it. A powerful story about the impact of photojournalism. Also starring Hiroyuki Sanada, Tadanobu Asano, Katherine Jenkins, Jun Kunimura, Lily Robinson, Ryo Kase, Akiko Iwase, Minami, plus Bill Nighy. I watched this at Berlinale and loved it, writing in my review: "there's something...

‘Dancing with the Stars’ winners, ranked: All 28 Mirror Ball champions from worst to best
Image
“Dancing with the Stars” has been airing on ABC for 28 seasons over the last 15 years. What started as a six-week summer series in 2005 became a TV institution, winning more than a dozen Emmys over the course of its run. But when it comes to the show’s Mirror Ball Trophy champions, they weren’t all created equal. Scroll down to see how we rank every single winner of the show from the very worst to the very best. Do you agree with our choice for the greatest of all time?

“DWTS” is an amateur dance competition series, so the quality of its performances is always a mixed bag. Some celebrities have the rhythm, musicality and stamina to keep up with the grueling pace week after week, while others simply don’t. But the show isn’t just about the dancing. While judges Len Goodman, Carrie Ann Inaba, Bruno Tonioli and...

Queen Elizabeth II to Mark 75th Anniversary of V.E. Day With Televised Address
Queen Elizabeth II
The Queen is to mark the 75th anniversary of Victory in Europe (V.E.) Day next week with a televised address in the U.K.

The monarch’s pre-recorded address will be broadcast on the BBC on May 8 at 9 p.m. BST in what will be her second televised message during the coronavirus outbreak.

The Queen’s rare address last month was seen by 24 million viewers, and ended with the words “we will meet again” — a reference to Dame Vera Lynn’s bolstering war anthem “We’ll Meet Again.”

The speech on May 8 will form part of a program of commemorations to mark the end of the Second World War after the original outdoor plans — such as street parties and parades — were canceled because of the coronavirus outbreak. Celebrations will instead take place in gardens, on doorsteps and in living rooms.

The BBC will broadcast special programs to mark the milestone occasion.

Doctor Who: Revisiting Steven Moffat’s Christmas Specials
Mark Harrison Dec 17, 2018

Matt Smith and Peter Capaldi starred in four Doctor Who Christmas specials each. We revisit Steven Moffat's festive scripts...

This article comes from Den of Geek UK.

Steven Moffat’s first Christmas-y contribution to Doctor Who comes near the end of his second episode, The Doctor Dances, when Rose Tyler compares a jolly Doctor to Santa Claus. “Who says I’m not, red bicycle when you were 12?” comes the cheeky reply.

Comparisons between the Doctor and Father Christmas go all the way back to Moffat’s Comic Relief sketch The Curse Of Fatal Death and continue all the way throughout his tenure as head writer and executive producer, particularly in his seasonal specials. Having inherited the tradition, he upheld it very well.

Like Russell T. Davies before him, Moffat didn’t treat the Christmas special as a trifle or a passing fancy, but as a proper episode of Doctor Who.

Tonya Harding in World's Dumbest (2008)
Could Tonya Harding make the ‘Dancing with the Stars: Athletes’ final two — and win! — based on these telling stats?
Tonya Harding in World's Dumbest (2008)
Tonya Harding would probably tell you herself she’s the underdog in the “Dancing with the Stars: Athletes” final three. No one, not even she, thought she’d get this far. Our odds have her finishing in third, behind Josh Norman and frontrunner Adam Rippon, which would be a very good and respectable placement for someone many thought would and wanted to get the boot in the first episode. But could she actually go even further and claim the Mirrorball trophy? “Dancing” history shows that, more often than not, the final two tends to be a his-and-her battle.

In the show’s previous 25 seasons, 17 final twos have come down to a female and a male celebrity. The longest streak was eight seasons, from Season 5 through 12. Of these 17, the woman prevailed 10 times. While each season is a very specific case, this data isn’t that shocking; female dancers — whether the pro...

‘Dancing with the Stars’: Who is your favorite male athlete winner? [Poll]
Eric Roberts, Tori Spelling, Reginald VelJohnson, Alfonso Ribeiro, Anna Delvey Sorokin, Joey Graziadei, Ilona Maher, Jenn Tran, Stephen Nedoroscik, Dwight Howard, Julianne Hough, Phaedra Parks, Chandler Kinney, Danny Amendola, and Brooks Nader in Dancing with the Stars (2005)
While female Olympians have struck Mirrorball glory on “Dancing with the Stars,” it’s a different story for the dudes. The most successful male athletes on the show are football players. Shocking, right? (Not.) Of the 10 athletes that have won “Dancing” in its first 25 seasons, six were men and four of those men were pigskin players. So you can probably book a football player or two for the upcoming “Dancing with the Stars: Athletes.” But which of these six champs has your vote?

The first male athlete to win “Dancing” was Dallas Cowboys great Emmitt Smith, who won Season 3 in 2006 with Cheryl Burke over Mario Lopez and Karina Smirnoff, who outscored Smith and Burke during the season. Smith and Burke reteamed for the all-star season and finished fourth.

Smith was the beginning of four straight athlete champs, with Kristi Yamaguchi being the fourth. Short track speed skater Apolo Anton Ohno,...

David Beckham is refuting reports that he used his relationship with Unicef to campaign for knighthood.

On Friday, British outlet The Sun published supposed leaked emails between the soccer star and his publicist from 2013, where they discussed securing a knighthood.

Watch: Victoria Beckham Shares Adorable Pic of David Beckham With Their Four Kids: ‘I Think They Love Him!’

In the alleged emails, Beckham, who was awarded an Order of the British Empire in 2003, calls British singer Katherine Jenkins' OBE award "a f**king joke," and refers to the committee who decides who gets the honors a "bunch of c**ts." His publicist reportedly encouraged Beckham to focus on charitable efforts like Unicef, which he's has been an ambassador for since 2005.

On Saturday, a spokesperson for Beckham defended the father of four, saying that recent reports paint "a deliberately inaccurate picture."

David Beckham at an event for The Class of '92 (2013)
David Beckham is responding to reports he allegedly used his Unicef charity work to campaign for a knighthood.

“This story is based on outdated material taken out of context from hacked and doctored private emails from a third party server and gives a deliberately inaccurate picture,” a spokesperson for Beckham tells People in a statement.

“David and Unicef have had a powerful partnership in support of children for over 15 years. The David Beckham 7 Fund specifically has raised millions of pounds and helped millions of vulnerable children around the world,” the statement continued.

Beckham has been a Unicef Goodwill Ambassador since 2005.

'Dancing With the Stars' Recap: 10th Anniversary Trip Down Memory Lane
It's finally here, dance fans! It's the big blowout 10th anniversary celebration of "Dancing with the Stars," as they remind us of some of the wild, crazy, awkward, painful, and stellar moments of the past 20 seasons. There's a lot jam packed into this special, as past contestants and winners return to share in the fun.

During resident-opening-number-choreographer Mandy Moore's exciting first group routine, lots of stars return, hosts Tom Bergeron and Erin Andrews fly in on a giant "10," and the four judges, Carrie Ann Inaba, Bruno Tonioli, Len Goodman, and Julianne Hough, make their grand entrance. Lots of cutaways to the audience show many other past stars who have returned but are apparently not dancing tonight, like Sabrina Bryan, who we're reminded of also by last night's shocking elimination. Like Willow last night, Sabrina was a frontrunner in both of her seasons (5 and All-Star season 15), but she was eliminated in week 6 both times.
