John Wesley Prudhont was born in East Los Angeles, California, and grew up in the Echo Park and Glassell Park communities. His acting career started when he was nine and began taking acting classes at the Glendale Center Theater in Glendale, California. While taking classes, he worked as an actor in "A Christmas Carol," "A Majority of One," "Fiddler on the Roof," and "Oklahoma." In 1982, he performed his first professional on-camera role as the Letterman in the hit "Kiss" music video for their song "I Love It Loud." His first network television role was as a Guest-Star in the 3rd episode of the hit TV show "MacGyver" in 1985. He has since performed over 100 live and on-camera roles in TV, films, commercials, voice-over, industrial videos, theater, hosting, and print and runway modeling.

He is a graduate of the LACC Theatre Academy's two-year conservatory actor training program in Los Angeles, California; he earned a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree from California State University, Sacramento, in History with a focus in Military History in 1991; earned a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree in finance from Louisiana State University in 2022; and he began working on completing the coursework necessary to obtain a Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) in financial management degree from Northcentral University in La Jolla, California in 2022.

He speaks English, French, and Spanish and has performed roles in each language.

He has also been involved in the financial service industry as a mergers and acquisitions (M&A) business broker in California and Nevada and a Real Estate Broker in California and Nevada as a principal in The Business Brokers, LLC. in Henderson, Nevada, and The Business Brokers, Inc. in Newport Beach, California since the early 1990s.

In 2011, he married model and actress Eileen Rene Prudhont, who has one daughter from a previous marriage, Rene Hilterbrandt. He has one daughter, Kiana Monique Prudhont, from a previous marriage.

He took hiatus from the entertainment industry from late 2018 through June 2022 after being appointed to and then elected to, the office of Nye Country Treasurer in Nye County, Nevada.
