Anya Chalotra of The Witcher, Chloe Cherry of Euphoria, and Ralph Ineson of The Witch star in the dark comedy Two Neighbors, which was able to secure a SAG interim agreement to film while the actors strike was still going on and wrapped production back in September. Although the story is set in New York, filming took place in the UK.
Marking the feature directorial debut of “multi-disciplinary artist” Ondine Viñao, who has exhibited video projects in the US and abroad, Two Neighbors was inspired by Aesop’s fable Avaricious and Envious. This take on the story shows what happens when Becky (Chalotra), an ambitious but struggling writer, is overcome by envy and spite when she meets Stacy (Cherry), a beautiful but insatiable socialite, at a lavish party hosted by Stacy’s father at their country estate. The evening descends slowly into chaos, and the girls’ lives are forever transformed...

There’s probably a clever German word invented to describe the increasingly common and frustrating act of spending an entire evening indecisively flicking through Netflix arguing about what to watch before just giving up and going to bed. The streaming giant has over 7,000 titles on its UK version alone, so you can be forgiven for feeling a bit overwhelmed by it all, and its recent tendency to cancel beloved Netflix Originals – some would say too soon – can leave you wondering where best to commit your time.

Munich-based sales agency Global Screen has acquired romantic drama “Falling Into Place” for worldwide theatrical distribution. The English-language film is written and directed by Aylin Tezel, one of Germany’s leading young actors, and stars Tezel (“7500”) and Chris Fulton (“Bridgerton”).
The directorial debut is set in Scotland on the Isle of Skye and in London. It is an honest and poetic portrait of today’s 30-somethings caught between the fear of commitment and the desire for self-improvement. Like all great love stories, it is not just about the love between two individuals, but also about the dreams and anxieties of a whole generation.
Kira and Ian, two 30-somethings, meet all too briefly over a winter weekend on the Isle of Skye and form a sudden, deep, and surprising bond. Back in London, they try to move on with their separate lives – but both have to stop running from themselves...

With more people online than ever, the internet isn’t as intimidating and alien as it used to be. Everything also seems easier when you’re connected. Yet when the young and unaware characters in Netflix’s latest series Red Rose download a mysterious phone app, they fall prey to an anonymous predator lurking behind the screen. This basic concept of malevolent cyber forces affecting the real world is nothing novel, especially in such a contemporary setting, but this show does a convincing job of making the web feel unsafe again.
Red Rose, a BBC series that first aired in 2022, is set in the creators’ hometown of Bolton, England. Michael and Paul Clarkson (co-producers of The Haunting of Bly Manor) and production company Eleven (The Enfield Haunting) collaborated on this gripping exercise in technological terror. The story follows a clique of friends whose ostensible leader is targeted by the titular app.

Red Rose is a horror series starring Amelia Clarkson and Natalie Hoflin. It is directed by Lisa Siwe, Ramon Salazar and Henry Blake.
Red Rose is one of those urban legends transformed into a series which, if in the hands of others would have been a disaster, but here we have the BBC which tries to make a good series with a plot that seems “impossible” and manages to do it.
A typical teen horror thing which, if it had been done by the usual studio, would have been a total disaster, but here, thanks to good directing, an atmosphere full of references to classics, interesting characters, an attractive story and very good direction andp planning, this series is a delight for the eyes.eferentes clásicos, personajes interesantes, una historia atractiva y una muy buena dirección y planificación hacen de esta serie una delicia que llevarse a la vista.

Traditionally, January and February are the dumping ground for major Hollywood studios. With awards season in full swing and audiences playing catchup on the biggest titles of the prior year, the first two months are usually the perfect place for dropping projects that don't inspire much confidence. But the rise of streaming is slowly changing that trend. Less concerned about the box office and much more obsessed with keeping their release schedules consistent, streamers like Netflix make sure to always have exciting new titles lined up, dump months be damned. So expect another full slate on the streamer as we enter February. Just because it's the shortest month of the year, doesn't mean we can't still have plenty of fun!
Below is a list (and some curated standout titles) of everything coming to Netflix in February 2023.

Netflix had a big year in 2022, surpassing more than 223 million paid streaming subscribers globally, and there’s plenty on tap in 2023 to be excited about — including new seasons of “You” and “Shadow and Bone.”
However, the streamer also saw its first subscriber loss in over a decade in its second quarter in April, prompting massive budget cuts and the loss of multiple TV projects over the course of this year.
Below is a recap of the major Netflix shows canceled in 2022, from beloved series to shows that hadn’t even aired yet.

"Monogamy, it's a beautiful idea but… you have to admit it's pretty hard – right?" Amazon has debuted a main official trailer for an intriguing new streaming series titled Mammals, created by James Richardson, and written by famous screenwriter Jez Butterworth. In this darkly comedic drama series, revelations and secrets come to light and the complexity of modern marriage and fidelity are exposed. In a world of eight billion, what happens after we've found 'the one'? Can we stay true to the promises we strive to keep when, after all, aren't we all just mammals? "The magic of monogamy just might be an illusion in modern marriages." The series features James Corden, with Sally Hawkins, Meila Kreiling, Colin Morgan, Henry Lloyd-Hughes, and Samuel Anderson. There's something off about these two trailers - I can't even tell what is going on, what the main thread is, other than "Hey relationships are hard!

The magic of monogamy just might be an illusion in modern marriages.
The trailer for “Mammals,” the latest Amazon Prime Video series from Stephanie Liang, asks what it means to find “the one” and have a successful marriage.
James Corden stars as Jamie, a chef whose world implodes after he discovers shocking secrets about his pregnant wife Amandine (Melia Kreiling) through sexts. Jamie enlists his brother-in-law Jeff (Colin Morgan) to help him find the truth about Amandine’s fidelity. Yet Jamie soon learns that Jeff’s marriage to his sister Lue (Sally Hawkins) is far from perfect, either. Jeff attempts to get through to Lue, but this only makes Lue descend deeper into a secret fantasy world. Meanwhile, after a tragic loss, Amandine delves into her passion for violin but finds solace from an unlikely source.

"Love is impossible!" Amazon has revealed the first look teaser trailer for an intriguing new streaming series titled Mammals, created by James Richardson, and written by famous screenwriter Jez Butterworth. The synopsis is a bit vague: The story of a Michelin-starred chef whose world implodes when he discovers shocking secrets about his pregnant wife. Butterworth adds this juicy tidbit: "It's a relationship comedy that doesn't really discuss relationships at any point. It's more like a whodunit, and I think most relationships do end up as crime scenes, don't they? So I guess if you like James's work and Sally's work then you should watch it." The series features James Corden, with Sally Hawkins, Meila Kreiling, Colin Morgan, Henry Lloyd-Hughes, and Samuel Anderson. This is barely a 45-sec teaser but it certainly got my attention. There's a whale? And lots of amusing scenes of relationship chaos, as well as some kitchen chaos.

"This doesn't paint a very pretty picture, does it?" HBO has revealed the full official trailer for the 4 episode mini-series titled Landscapers, directed by the British filmmaker Will Sharpe, who also made this year's fantastic The Electrical Life of Louis Wain (one of my favorite films of the year). Supposedly based on a true story, which sounds about right, a devoted and mild-mannered couple decides to kill their spouse's parents. They only get in trouble when their bodies are found. Sharpe directs this "exploration of love and fantasy," which is created and written by screenwriter Ed Sinclair. Starring the talented Olivia Colman (who's also in this year's The Lost Daughter) and Emmy nominee David Thewlis, along with Kate O'Flynn, Dipo Ola, Samuel Anderson, David Hayman, Felicity Montagu, and Daniel Rigby. I like how many styles and looks there are in this trailer, all kinds of things going on. Did they do it?...

"My husband and I got ourselves into a bit of a pickle." A big time pickle. HBO has debuted a teaser trailer for a new 4 episode mini-series titled Landscapers, directed by the British filmmaker Will Sharpe, who also made this year's fantastic The Electrical Life of Louis Wain (one of my faves). Supposedly based on a true story, which doesn't seem that surprising to learn, a devoted and mild-mannered couple decides to kill their spouse's parents. HBO has released the first teaser for yet another prestige limited series, which are quickly becoming the network’s bread and butter since the hits of “Big Little Lies” and “The White Lotus.” Starring Academy Award winner Olivia Colman and “Harry Potter” favorite David Thewlis, “Landscapers” is a darkly comic mystery about a seemingly ordinary married couple who become the subjects of a murder investigation after two dead bodies are discovered in their back garden. Set in the northern English city of Nottingham and inspired by real-life events, the four-part series is the creation of debut screenwriter Ed Sinclair, who also happens to be Colman’s husband.

The beautiful game stands in for deeper, more personal struggles as Greg Cruttwell’s engaging characters pour their hearts out
A big season, this, for Greg Cruttwell. Next month, the BFI revives Mike Leigh’s Naked, in which Cruttwell landed his most indelible acting gig as the yuppie scumbag Jeremy. This week, however, he resumes writer-director duties with this genial indie that casts Leigh alumni and TV stalwarts as football-crazed individuals, pouring their hearts out to a mostly static camera for 90 minutes, plus injury time. It is an innately theatrical proposition, like a fringe play that’s snuck in through the Odeon fire doors. Yet this is pretty sound stuff, engagingly performed: if not a resounding triumph for one medium over another, then the kind of honourable draw that sends everybody home reasonably happy.
Its tactics derive from the Alan Bennett playbook, revealing what first seem like eccentrically heightened passions,...

Nell Barlow is the long-suffering gay teenager who falls for a lifeguard on holiday in Marley Morrison’s likably wistful debut
The holiday romance coming-of-ager is the genre that’s given writer-director Marley Morrison her likable feature debut. And if you thought Ammonite was going to be this year’s only gay love story set in Dorset, think again. Aj (Nell Barlow) is a smart, intense, socially difficult and lonely teen who wears a bucket hat and aviator shades, and whose overbearing mum Tina (Jo Hartley) still insists on calling her by her childhood name of “April”, unfortunately abbreviated to “Ape”. In a fiercely misjudged attempt to get Aj to cheer up and buck up, she insists on taking her on an old-fashioned family getaway to a holiday park in Dorset, along with her younger sister Dayna (Tabitha Byron), pregnant older sister Lucy (Sophia di Martino) and Lucy’s easygoing partner Steve (Samuel Anderson).

"Why can't I just do what I want to do?" Peccadillo Pictures has released the first official UK trailer for a British indie coming-of-age comedy called Sweetheart, not to be confused with the low key island monster horror also titled Sweetheart from recently. This British film premiered at the Glasgow Film Festival earlier this year, where it won the Audience Award, then it won Best First Feature at Inside Out Toronto. A socially awkward, environmentally conscious teen named Aj is dragged to a coastal holiday park by her painfully "normal" family, where she becomes unexpectedly captivated by a chlorine smelling, sun-loving lifeguard named Isla. Starring Nell Barlow as Aj, along with Jo Hartley, Ella-Rae Smith, Sophia Di Martino, Samuel Anderson, Tabitha Byron, and Steffan Cennydd. The film "captures the ups and downs of the quintessential British family holiday," which is usually amusing. This one looks like it might be quite good.

For socially conscious Aj (Nell Barlow) planning a gap year trip to knit jumpers for elephants is much more appealing. Yet, she finds herself on a four-hour car journey to the Dorset coast with her mum Tina and little sister Dayna. Joined by pregnant sister Lucy & her boyfriend Steve, Aj expects this to be ‘a week of hell’. That is until she lays her eyes on the resident lifeguard Isla (Ella-Rae Smith) who might just be the girl of her dreams.

The Glasgow Film Festival has made great strides in building its own identity in recent years. The film Sweetheart, playing at the festival this year, is a perfect example of the type of gem which shines in the (virtual) Glaswegian sun and our man at the festival, Thomas Alexander, recently took time with the director and star of the film.
