Pop-folk chorus, along the lines of the New Christy Minstrels, formed
at the University of Colorado in Boulder, in 1963. Seven members were from Colorado; two others joined the group from Texas. Generally thought to be the
models for the fictional New Main Street Singers in the 2004 film "A
Mighty Wind," their biggest hit was "Don't Let the Rain Come Down"
("Crooked Little Man") on Philips Records in 1964.
