John-Paul Nickel is an internationally award winning writer, actor, and filmmaker.
For television, JP shared an Emmy nomination (2020) as part of the writing staff for Amazon's Just Add Magic. JP is also is a two-time honoree of the WGA Diversity Program's TV Writer Access Project (2016 & 2019) and a WGA Award Nominee (2017).
As a playwright, JP has won the Kennedy Center's Jean Kennedy Smith Playwriting award for "outstanding play written on the theme of living with a disability" (2009), has received a fellowship at the Eugene O'Neill Playwright's Conference (2009), and has had plays produced Off-Broadway and across the country.
As a filmmaker, his shorts Grim and The Other Wayne have screened at festivals around world.
As an actor, JP has put his classical theater training to use by appearing in 66 episodes of the cult sketch comedy series SMBC Theater and the web-series Starpocalypse.
