Big change on Masterpiece’s popular drama Miss Scarlet and the Duke.
Stuart Martin, who played William “The Duke” Wellington in the previous four seasons, will not return for season 5. Kate Phillips will return as Miss Eliza Scarlet for a fifth season of investigations, and the series will be retitled Miss Scarlet.
“It has been such an incredible joy to bring Duke to life through Rachael’s beautiful, brilliant writing, and to get to play him for the past four years,” said Martin in a statement. “But it felt like the time was right for Scarlet to explore new stories and challenges for now, as the show continues to grow and evolve. I will miss working with my amazing partner in crime Kate and the rest of our brilliant family and team, but I’m excited to continue following Eliza and her escapades as a huge fan and newly enrolled Scarleteer!

London, Aug 25 (Ians) Astronomers have observed a large dark spot in Neptune’s atmosphere, with an unexpected smaller bright spot adjacent to it. This is the first time a dark spot on the planet has ever been observed with a telescope on Earth.
These occasional features in the blue background of Neptune’s atmosphere are a mystery to astronomers, and the new results via Eso’s Very Large Telescope (Vlt) provide further clues as to their nature and origin.
On Neptune, a dark spot was first discovered by NASA’s Voyager 2 in 1989, before disappearing a few years later.
“Since the first discovery of a dark spot, I’ve always wondered what these short-lived and elusive dark features are,” said Patrick Irwin, Professor at University of Oxford and lead investigator of the study published in Nature Astronomy.

Exclusive: Allen Leech and India Mullen will lead the cast of an Irish drama series for AMC Networks’ Sundance Now and local broadcaster Virgin Media Television, we’ve learned.
The pair will topline six-part drama The Vanishing Triangle, which goes into production later this year with a U.S.-UK-Ireland production set-up, and Eccho Rights attached as international distributor. The show is inspired on true events that shook Ireland in the 1990s, when several women disappeared. While the characters and events in the series are fictional, the producers have spoken to several of the real life victims’ families, and hope the show will keep their stories in the Irish public’s mind. The show title is regularly used in the Irish media to refer to the events, which began with the disappearance of American woman Annie McCarrick in 1993 and spiraled to involve many similar cases.

New York-based playwright Caroline Franklin is adapting her stage play The Bronte Girls for television alongside Call the Midwife director Darcia Martin. A+E Networks International has given a formal series order to crime drama Miss Scarlet and The Duke, its first international, scripted co-production. The series, fronted by The Crown star Kate Phillips as the first-ever female detective in 19th century London, will start pre-production next month. Irish production company ShinAwiL has boarded the project and will oversee production in Dublin in June 2019.
