Lisa Rein is a singer, songwriter, actress, film maker, archivist and activist, who sings lead vocals on both theme songs for the horror-comedy classics Monsturd and Retardead (directed by Rick Popko and Dan West). She also plays "Rachel" in Monsturd and "Deputy Dan's Wife" in Retardead. (See videos of her scenes below.)
Lisa will have a production credit in the upcoming Chelsea Manning documentary "xychelsea," directed by Tim Travers-Hawkins, for Pulse Films. The film will debut on Showtime after a film festival run. She also appears in the film.
Lisa has been working on her own documentaries since 2015, when she began production of "From DeadDrop to SecureDrop." (SecureDrop is the open source anonymous uploading application now used by over 70 news organizations around the world to accept documents and news tips. Its original prototype, "DeadDrop," was invented by Kevin Poulsen & Aaron Swartz.)
On the archivist front, Lisa is Chelsea Manning's Archivist and the Digital Librarian for the Dr. Timothy Leary Futique Trust. She knew Dr. Leary and was his Text Editor and Graphics Editor for his last published work: The graphic novel "Surfing the Conscious Nets" (Last Gasp, 1995).
On the activism front, Lisa is a co-founder of Aaron Swartz Day and a co-founder of Creative Commons, where she worked with Aaron Swartz on its technical specifications, back in 2002.
