Money can buy you many things, but shelter from Jackson’s wrath is not one of them. According to Deadline, Samuel L. Jackson will join Tim Story for Man of War, an upcoming Western about protecting one’s stomping grounds from the clutches of a money-grubbing, gentrification-happy opportunist.

As if Splinter Cell fans weren't already in a depressed state, there's one more tough pill to swallow. For those of you longing for a Sam Fisher-fix, keep dreaming. Basil Iwanyk, a producer who's been connected to the live-action adaption for the better part of a decade, has put to rest any hopes of a film. Affixed with the influential Tom Clancy branding, and luring Oscar-nominated writer Sheldon Turner and director Doug Liman (of The Bourne Identity fame) aboard, the Splinter Cell film seemed destined for release in short order.
Back about 10 years ago, then-director Liman eagerly outlined what sounded like the starting point for a wider series, the first film fleshing out the backstory of Fisher and presumably how he met his handler and straight man, Irving Lambert. The Nsa's top-secret trouble-shooter, Sam Fisher, was originally voiced by veteran action-film character actor Michael Ironside. To adapt that character to screen,...

Fans of the popular action video game franchise Splinter Cell will no doubt be left a little heartbroken by the latest update regarding the long-gestating live-action adaptation starring Venom actor and Oscar nominee Tom Hardy. Word is, the adaptation is now dead after production just couldn't get it right. Producer Basil Iwanyk, who had been signed on to the Splinter Cell movie since as far back as 2013, made the revelation while speaking with The Direct.
Splinter Cell fans and audiences would no doubt have loved to see Tom Hardy bring the gruff, highly trained black-ops operative to life on the big screen. Sadly, it sounds like its not going to happen, with Iwanyk twisting the knife even further and calling the proposed movie hardcore and awesome.

Jason Reitman’s “Saturday Night” has hit theaters nationwide, chronicling the chaotic 90 minutes leading up to the first broadcast of “Saturday Night Live” in 1975, releasing on the 49th anniversary of the long-running sketch comedy on October 11. With this movie expected to be a contender at the upcoming 2025 Academy Awards, let’s take a closer look at the filmmaker’s previous four Oscar nominations in three different categories for just two of his films.
After Reitman’s directorial debut in 2005 for “Thank You For Smoking,” he achieved commercial and critical success for his coming-of-age film “Juno” in 2007, starring Elliot Page as the titular teenage character who deals with her unexpected pregnancy and wants to give it up for adoption. While the comedy was praised for its screenplay by Diablo Cody and lead performance, Reitman’s direction was not recognized at any of the major precursor award ceremonies, which is why it...

Sir Patrick Stewart has been cast in an exciting new comic book TV show, potentially overshadowing his return as Professor X in the MCU. The upcoming Netflix adaptation of Vault Comics' Barbaric features Stewart as the voice for Axe, promising a unique fantasy experience with dark comedy. While Stewart's portrayal of Professor X has been iconic, the MCU needs to handle his character carefully to avoid diminishing his legacy.

What happens when you bring Bayhem to the box? It looks like we might be about to find out, folks. According to Deadline, the Bad Boys and Ambulance blockbuster filmmaker is circling the directorial hotseat on Barbaric, a new Netflix series based on Michael Moreci and Nathan Gooden's best-selling Vault comic series. What's more, Peaky Blinders star Sam Claflin and Picard himself, Sir Patrick Stewart, are attached to star in the show.
Up In The Air scribe Sheldon Turner is aboard to write the series, tantalisingly described by Deadline as "Deadpool meets Game Of Thrones" thanks to its killer combo of ultra violence and wicked humour. Set in a Medieval fantasy world, Moreci and Gooden's comics follow the adventures of cursed Barbarian Owen and his sentient alcoholic weapon Axe as they wander their magical realm, impelled to help the needy (usually in the most bloodthirsty way possible). Calling all Baytriots! Bro King and director Michael Bay may finally be turning his gaze from the big screen to the small screen. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Bay is in talks to direct "an acerbic fantasy series" entitled "Barbaric" for Netflix, which is based on the Vault Comics series of the same name.
"Barbaric" is due to star Sam Claflin (from "The Hunger Games" and most recently "Daisy Jones and the Six") and Patrick Stewart (Professor X and Captain Picard himself), with Sheldon Turner of "X-Men: First Class" and "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning" acting as writer and executive producer of the series.
That last credit, of course, is how Turner met Bay in the latter's capacity as producer and founder of the Platinum Dunes production company, which began in 2003 with the company's remake of the original "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre." X-Men Origins: Magneto was set to explore the villain's life pre-mcu era. Bad timing and disappointing X-Men movies led to the project's cancellation. There are similarities between Magneto's origins in the script and X-Men: First Class.
In 2006, 20th Century Fox and Marvel Entertainment released X-Men: The Last Stand. Despite receiving negative reviews compared to the two previous movies and fans being disappointed with how the film handled the iconic Dark Phoenix storyline, the film was a massive hit and was the most successful X-Men movie at the box office until the release of Deadpool. Due to conventional wisdom at the time being that film franchises ended after a trilogy, 20th Century Fox looked to expand the X-Men franchise with a series of movies focusing on the origins of specific characters in a line called X-Men Origins.
The first of the films was 2009's X-Men Origins: Wolverine, focusing on the franchise's most popular character.

The Texas Chainsaw Massacre is one of the oldest and most notable movie franchises in the horror genre, and after 50 years, it's still going strong. That being said, like all iconic series, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre franchise is not without its issues. One of the most notable things fans complain about is the significantly convoluted timeline, which can make it difficult to dive in and start watching. With multiple films spread out over five decades -- and different filmmakers delivering their own interpretation of the ghoulish Sawyer family -- establishing a single coherent story thread is nearly impossible.
There are nine movies in the franchise, with the first movie, The Texas Chain Saw Massacre, dating back to 1974. The subsequent installments in the series establish a complicated timeline, with many films acting as simple sequels, while others fit under the remake, reboot, and prequel umbrellas. Still, the premise is pretty simple,...

When did the Texas Chainsaw movies get so muddled with so many timelines? It’s not a hard thing to do. People get lost in Texas and end up victims of Leatherface and his family. I’m not saying there shouldn’t be a story line or a variation on things from time to time, hell, that’s what made Freddy, Michael, and Jason so popular. You could have even done something like the legacy sequel for Halloween, at least the first one. Oh wait, you did, and it didn’t turn out well with characters that made terrible decisions and weren’t likeable in the first place? Oh yeah, I remember that one.

Many movies about Bonnie and Clyde have been announced but never made, including the Go Down Together film and The Story of Bonnie and Clyde. The 1967 Bonnie and Clyde film was controversial for its violence but received multiple Oscar nominations and wins. Love Is a Gun, another Bonnie and Clyde movie, was announced in 2018 but has had no updates since then.

It can seem like "superhero movie" is an automatic greenlight in Hollywood these days. Yet, the genre is still littered with unrealized projects.
One is "X-Men Origins: Magneto." True to its title, it would've chronicled the early years of the X-Men's arch-foe. If any Marvel villain could sustain an origin movie, it's Magneto, who has one of the boldest backstories in superhero comics. In the 1980s, "X-Men" comic writer Chris Claremont desired to revitalize Magneto, to make him "a more credible adversary, but also a more credible person." That meant offering a reason for why he believed in mutant supremacy. Claremont considered what was known about Magneto and struck upon brilliance:
"Magneto had to have come to adolescence, and possibly come of age, in the Second World War. And he certainly looked European. And what would have given him such an extreme attitude toward mutant-human relations? [...] The next corollary was,...

Alicia Allain, a producer and actress who started in the business as a hair stylist, has died according to a social media post by her husband, John Schneider. She was 53.
“This is a time of unimaginable sorrow for me,” former Dukes of Hazzard star Schneider wrote after his wife’s passing. “Grief is much too small a word. I’ve heard it said that ‘with great love comes great sorrow.’ I had no idea what that meant until now. Alicia was the fuel that ran my biggest dreams. The inspiration behind every creative thought. The very fabric of my soul. The glue that held me together. I miss her more than any words could possibly describe.”

Exclusive: AMC Studios is in early development on Diligence, a drama from Sheldon Turner and Jennifer Klein’s Vendetta Productions, for AMC and AMC+.
Written by Turner, in Diligence, when a former investigative journalist begins working for private intelligence firm Diligence, he finds himself influencing the news rather than reporting it. Turner and Klein executive produce with Tana Jamieson and Barry Jossen of A+E Studios where Vendetta is under a first-look deal. AMC Studios is the studio.
Turner most recently co-wrote Road House, Doug Liman’s upcoming remake of the 1989 film, starring Jake Gyllenhaal in the role portrayed by the late Patrick Swayze. In this installment of The Silver Lining, we’ll be covering Jonathan Liebesman’s unfairly maligned prequel, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning.
While the production company is now mostly known for movies like The Purge and A Quiet Place, it was originally a series of horror remakes that put Platinum Dunes on the map. Flicks like 2005’s The Amityville Horror and 2009’s Friday the 13th made big money at the box office, but it was the astounding success of the 2003 The Texas Chainsaw Massacre remake that made this endeavor possible in the first place.
And with the success of that initial remake convincing Hollywood that brutal horror was still a sound investment, it makes sense that TCM would be the first movie in Platinum Dunes’ repertoire to garner a sequel. So where might a filmmaker go after a no-holds-barred splatterfest that ends with most of the cannibal family being...

This article contains Marvel universe spoilers
It feels like there’s no stopping the might of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and as we look to Phase 5 (and beyond), the ever-expanding slate grows by the day. Unlike the tumultuous times over at the DC Extended Universe, it’s hard to see the MCU pulling the plug on any of its projects these days.
Still, there have been plenty of Marvel movies lost to the Quantum Realm over the years. Wall-crawling heroes, marvellous mutants, and even Olivia Newton-John have all had their movies shelved. Not everything has always fit the neat little box of the MCU, so if you’re ready for an unexpected episode of What If…?, here are 12 canceled Marvel movies you’ll never get to see.

Jake Gyllenhaal gives an exciting filming update for Doug Liman's upcoming Road House remake. The upcoming Amazon Prime Video movie will reimagine the plot of the 1989 original, which starred Patrick Swayze, Ben Gazzara, Kelly Lynch, and Sam Elliott. The film was negatively received by critics upon its release but became a cult classic over the years. Initially, a remake started to develop when Ronda Rousey was attached to star with Nick Cassavetes directing. That version was scrapped and in 2021 Gyllenhaal and Liman announced that they produce their own remake.
Now, in a recent interview on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert to promote the release of Disney's Strange World, Gyllenhaal confirmed that filming on the movie has wrapped. However, he has also said that they will be doing pickups in a month, while also hinting that the film is going to be a lot of fun. Check out what...

The 2019 open-world action/adventure video game "Days Gone" is getting the big screen treatment from Sony PlayStation Productions, according to Deadline. The PlayStation game from Bend Studios and Sony Interactive Entertainment is set in a post-apocalyptic future in the Pacific Northwest after a pandemic turns people into zombie-like creatures called Freakers. It has sold over nine million units so far, with the lead role of Deacon St. John voiced by Sam Witwer, the voice of Darth Maul in "Star Wars: The Clone Wars," "Star Wars Rebels," and "Solo: A Star Wars Story."
This move comes after the success of Sony's "Uncharted" film, based on the video game of the same name, starring Tom Holland and Mark Wahlberg. "Uncharted" made almost 402 million worldwide, making it the fifth-highest grossing after "Warcraft," "Detective Pikachu," "Rampage," and "Sonic the Hedgehog 2."

Released in 2019, Bend Studio’s zombie game Days Gone is headed to the big screen, Deadline reports, with Sam Heughan (“Outlander”) currently “circling” the movie adaptation.
Sony PlayStation Productions is behind the Days Gone movie, which has Oscar-nominated scribe Sheldon Turner writing.
Days Gone is “set in the Pacific Northwest after a devastating global pandemic.”
“The game chronicles former motorcycle club member, Deacon St. John, as he fights to survive against the forces of despair and mutated, predatory humans in his quest to find the long lost, presumed dead, love of his life.”
If he lands the role, Sam Heughan would play Deacon St. John.
Deadline also reports, “I hear Turner’s script will be a love ballad to motorcycle movies; the bike being Deacon’s sole form of transportation, his horse in this would-be, modern-day western.”
Vendetta Productions is producing with Sony PlayStation Productions.

Going into this year’s Oscars, Jane Campion is currently expected to win Best Adapted Screenplay for “The Power of the Dog” with 7/2 odds according to Gold Derby’s combined predictions as of this writing. However, she recently ended up losing that award at BAFTA to Siân Heder for “Coda” in quite an upset. Last year, “The Father” managed to beat the eventual Best Picture winner, “Nomadland,” for Best Adapted Screenplay at BAFTA before going on to repeat at the Oscars. Could “Coda” be on a similar trajectory?
“Coda” follows Ruby Rossi (Emilia Jones), a child of deaf adults, otherwise known as a Coda, as she is the only hearing person in her family. Her parents, Frank (Troy Kotsur) and Jackie (Marlee Matlin), as well as her older brother, Leo (Daniel Durant), are all deaf. Ruby works alongside Frank and Leo in their fishing business. In a presentation to buyers delivered at the start of the Pre-Cannes Screenings on Monday, director Doug Liman described his new movie “Everest,” set to star Ewan McGregor, Sam Heughan and Mark Strong, as the “ultimate adventure film.” HanWay Films is selling international rights at the virtual market, while UTA Independent Film Group handles U.S.
“‘Everest is about the first attempt to climb Mount Everest in 1921,” Liman explained. “It resulted in the first 11 deaths on Everest.” The film charts the intense rivalry between and driving obsession of English mountaineer George Mallory (McGregor) and the eccentric Aussie climber George Finch (Heughan). Strong plays the arrogant Arthur Hinks of the Royal Geographic Society, who selects Mallory to scale the mountain.
“;The Bourne Identity’ sort of changed how we shot car chases. My intention here with ‘Everest’ is to give the audience the experience, through Mallory and Finch, of what it’s actually like to climb Everest.

Having recently tackled the world of haute couture in “Halston,” Ewan McGregor is going to break out his climbing gear to scale the heights in “Everest.”
The high-altitude adventure comes courtesy of Doug Liman, the exacting action auteur behind “The Bourne Identity” and “Edge of Tomorrow,” and will star McGregor as George Mallory, an English mountaineer who took part in the first three British expeditions to Mount Everest. This is, of course, not to be confused with 2015’s “Everest,” a re-telling of the 1996 Mount Everest disaster, when eight climbers caught in a blizzard died while attempting to descend from the summit.
Here’s the official logline: “1921. Everest remains the very last great unconquered challenge on earth. Many have sacrificed their sanity and often their lives in the attempt to reach its fabled summit. George Mallory (McGregor) is picked by the arrogant Arthur Hinks (Strong) of the Royal Geographic Society to scale the impossible.

Earning his first two Golden Globe nominations in 2017 and 2019 for his turn in FX spy drama The Americans, actor Matthew Rhys returns to contention this month with HBO’s Perry Mason redux.
For Rhys, this morning’s nom felt like a validation of the efforts of the production team, as well as of the risk he took, when he stepped into the shoes of an already iconic character.
“It’s always great to be nominated for something you really believe in. There was, I think, a mild hint of apprehension…because you’re reimagining something that was firmly established, in the hearts and minds of especially America, but worldwide,” the actor told Deadline today. “The madness of this business is, you throw so many balls in the air, hoping that they align as planets, and it works. So, you’re relieved, in a way, that it worked.”

Exclusive: One of television’s most iconic legal dramas is poised for a comeback. ABC is developing LA Law, a new incarnation of the Emmy-winning Steven Bochco series, with Tony nominee Blair Underwood set to reprise his role as attorney Jonathan Rollins and executive produce.
The new LA Law is written/executive produced by Arrow and DC’s Legends of Tomorrow co-creator/executive producer Marc Guggenheim and Arrow/Legends writer Ubah Mohamed, and directed/executive produced by Emmy winner Anthony Hemingway. In it, the venerable law firm of McKenzie Brackman reinvents itself as a litigation firm specializing in only the most high-profile, boundary-pushing and incendiary cases. Underwood reprises his role as Rollins, who has gone from idealistic to more conservative as he clashes with millennial JJ Freeman to decide the best path forward for the firm to effect political and legal change.
