Earlier this week, multiple media outlets began identifying Brandon Bostonian as the engineer of the Amtrak train that crashed in Philadelphia on Tuesday night, killing at least 7 and injuring more than 60. The 32-year-old engineer, who survived the crash, has since told ABC News, via his attorney, that he has "no explanation" for how the accident, which is currently under investigation, occurred. But on Thursday, Sandy Rios, a former Fox News Channel contributor and the governmental affairs director for American Family Association, a conservative organization which is said to promote "fundamentalist Christian values," offered up her own explanation during her radio...

Stephen Fry appeals Olympic venue, Catholics aren’t hateful to gays, Cheyenne Jackson’s Opening Night
Cheyenne Jackson and Anthony Rapp have signed on for Opening Night, a movie about the disasters, both onstage and behind the scenes of a student drama, their teacher, and a visiting B-list TV star.
Meanwhile, both Cheyenne and his husband Monte Lapke have both hired high end divorce attorneys, but don’t think this is going to drag out and get ugly, because the deal is evidently almost worked out.
According to the Catholic League’s Bill Donohue, “Nothing the Catholic Church has ever said about the moral status of homosexuals—which is as irrelevant as the moral status of heterosexuals—could possibly be construed as hateful.” I think the reason there hasn’t been a second coming is because explaining everything to guys like this would take an eternity.

The fashion director of TLC’s hit show Say Yes to the Dress extended an olive branch to a conservative radio host after she blamed his wedding dress show for painting a biased portrait of homosexuality.
The American Family Association’s Sandy Rios said in a recent radio address that children have “heard nothing but positive things about homosexuality and its effects” because of shows like Say Yes to the Dress, which features gay fashion director Randy Fenoli, and Say Yes to the Dress Atlanta, which stars gay image consultant Monte Durham.
“We see the gay characters on the one in Atlanta and New York,...

One of the more stridently anti-gay voices on the religious right offers a new reason why more and more young Americans support marriage equality: TLC's reality series "Say Yes to the Dress."
Sandy Rios, a radio host for the conservative American Family Association, said television shows like "Say Yes To Dress" are giving Americans are a skewed picture of homosexuals.
"Our children, for the most part, have heard nothing but positive things about homosexuality and its effects," Rios said Friday on her morning radio program. "It’s kind of fun. We see 'Say Yes to the Dress,' which by the way I love, and we see the gay characters on that and the one in Atlanta and the one in New York and ... it is the face of the homosexual community that is only pained with a positive brush when those of us that have been involved in...

Fox News host Sean Hannity invited contributors Kirsten Powers, a columnist at the Daily Beast, and Sandy Rios, the VP of Family-pac Federal, to his show Monday night to discuss Hilary Rosen's comment about Ann Romney. Hannity felt Rosen's remark that Romney had "actually never worked a day in her life" had meant to be condescending and played into the left's narrative on "class warfare."...

As she endures an anti-gay group's fury over her new Jc Penney spokeswoman role, Ellen DeGeneres has found an unlikely advocate -- Bill O'Reilly.
The Fox News commentator came to DeGeneres' defense after conservative group One Million Moms, a division of the American Family Association, pressed Jc Penney to replace the comedian and talk show host as their spokesperson because she is a lesbian.
He likened the group's boycott of the Texas-based retail chain after they hired DeGeneres to a "witch hunt." He went on to note, "What is the difference between the McCarthy era of the '50s and the Million Moms saying, 'Hey, JCPenney and all you other stores, don't you hire any gay people. Don't you dare.' What is the difference?"
O'Reilly's comments came during a segment with Fox News contributor Sandy Rios, who argued in favor of the One Million Moms' anti-gay stance on the issue.

Ellen DeGeneres has already spoken up on her own behalf about the effort by a conservative group to have her fired as a spokeswoman for JCPenney. She's also gained a defender in another prominent media figure -- albeit from a somewhat unlikely place.
Fox News host Bill O'Reilly defended both DeGeneres and JCPenney on his show Tuesday (Feb. 7), comparing the effort by One Million Moms, a group affiliated with the conserative American Family Association, to have DeGeneres fired to McCarthyism and calling the campaign a "witch hunt."
"This is a business deal," O'Reilly says in a fairly one-sided debate with conservative activist and Fox News contributor Sandy Rios (who's not formally affiliated with One Million Moms; O'Reilly says at the start of the video below that no one from the group agreed to appear on camera). "Ms. DeGeneres is hired as a spokesperson by JCPenney. JCPenney has an absolutely perfect right to do that,...

In a surprising move for the conventional Fox News pundit, Bill O’Reilly came to the rescue of Ellen DeGeneres, who is currently facing heat from conservative groups over her recent partnership with J.C. Penney.
On a segment on last night’s The O’Reilly Factor, O’Reilly took issue with One Million Moms, the group organizing a boycott against the retailer in an effort to force DeGeneres to step down as spokeswoman. Fox News contributor and One Million Moms supporter Sandy Rios explained, “It isn’t about Ellen DeGeneres, but it’s about mainstreaming something that is not...

Ellen DeGeneres has an unlikely ally in...Bill O'Reilly? In a segment on The O'Reilly Factor last night, the Fox News pundit surprisingly stood up for the openly gay comedian and talk show host against the conservative group One Million Moms, which is organizing a boycott against JCPenney for hiring DeGeneres as as spokeswoman. Here's what he had to say in a segment with guest Sandy Rios, a Fox News contributor who supported the Million Moms' anti-gay stance in the name of "traditional values." Suggesting such hostility is not in "the spirit of America," O'Reilly insisted the proposed protest is all about DeGeneres. "If you remember with the McCarthy era of...

Bill O'Reilly had a particularly pro-Hollywood night tonight, as far as The Factor is typically concerned. After a segment in which he defended Clint Eastwood from claims that his Super Bowl ad was subliminal Obama campaign propaganda, O'Reilly had on Sandy Rios of Family-Pac Federal to explain the call from conservative group Million Moms to get Ellen Degeneres fired as Jc Penney spokeswoman, and he was not happy with their argument. "I don't think that's the spirit of America," he objected to Rios, who argued that Degeneres represented immorality.

Sick of talking about Glee while not being able to watch the series yet? Well, I’m not done. It’s starting to look like Fox is going to make a super-season of their hit show next year, with 25 new episodes instead of the planned 20-22 episodes.
If you want to watch HBO’s extremely boring-but-pretty WWII series The Pacific but don’t subscribe, you can watch the first episode online for free.
You can vote for several out actors and gay favs like Neil Patrick Harris and John Barrowman for Actor of the Month.
Director Michel Gondry already has one time travel film, The Master of Space and Time, in the can. Now he says he’s working on another one about “kids who travel [into] the future by mistake and a machine [that] keeps people younger.” They have some of the good stuff down at SXSW, don’t they?
Speaking of the good stuff,...
