Good news for American Pie fans. Two sequels from the theatrically released entries will be getting new physical media releases. The bad news is that these particular releases are from a British distributor, and the normal Blu-rays are Region B. However, American Pie 2 will get an Ultra-hd 4K remastering on a region-free Blu-ray so North American consumers can enjoy it as well. According to Blu-ray.com, 88 Films is releasing the first sequel and the last sequel to the 1999 teen virginity comedy. Both Blu-rays are due to hit retailers in June.
The description for American Pie 2 reads,
“The characters you love are back! One year after the prom-night misadventures immortalized in American Pie, the entire gang has reunited for the summer. Now, an innocent-looking beach house will be transformed into the ultimate party-central. Five guys will discover the powerful bonds of friendship… and Super Glue. Ending "Cobra Kai" after six seasons was a good move by series creators Josh Heald, Jon Hurwitz, and Hayden Schlossberg because it allowed them to conclude the show's story on their own terms. However, this also means Netflix will be devoid of new seasons of the reliably delightful karate comedy-drama going forward. In other words? It's time to have a serious discussion about the future of the property.
With Ralph Macchio's Daniel Larusso busy teaming up with Jackie Chan's Mr. Han in the upcoming "Karate Kid: Legends", the "Cobra Kai" power trio is free to hatch their own plans within the franchise. In a PaleyFest 2025 red carpet interview with The Direct, Hurwitz was able to offer an eagerly awaited update on the status of potential "Cobra Kai" things to come ... and it seems that if anything, the showrunners are spoiled for choice:

After a decades-long absence from the silver screen, the Karate Kid finally returned to the big screens with the Jaden Smith-led feature. But despite sharing themes and story bits similar to the original release, the end result proved to be more of a loose remake than a direct continuation of the original trilogy.

However, despite its commercial success, the retelling of the classic fish-out-of-water story didn’t extend beyond the 2010 iteration, especially in the wake of Cobra Kai, which brought the IP back to its roots. Interestingly, the creators behind the TV adaptation were inclined to a continuation of the Jackie Chan-starrer during their negotiation for the TV series.

Going undercover at a Las Vegas pool party isn’t your typical mission — but then again, the heroes of Obliterated aren’t your typical government agents.
From the trio behind Cobra Kai, Netflix’s opens with a sun-soaked, booze-fueled pool party at Drai’s dayclub, but, as the above sneak peek reveals, several of the partygoers aren’t who they initially appear to be.
They’re actually a multidisciplinary team from several different government branches — CIA, Navy, Nsa — who are tracking a deadly nuclear device that could level the entire city. The squad consists of leader and CIA intelligence officer Ava Winters (Shelley Hennig), tactical lead and Navy Seal Chad McKnight (Nick Zano), fellow Seal Trunk (Terrence Terrell), Marine sniper Angela Gomez (Paola Lázaro), Nsa tech genius Maya Lerner (Kimi Rutledge), bomb-defusing expert Hagerty (C. The question in everyone's mind was whether they were actually dead, and now, the series showrunners have taken the time to share the truth about Kreese and Silver's fate.

The penultimate episode of The Karate Kid spin-off's final season on Netflix showcased the much-anticipated rematch between Kreese and Silver (perhaps two of the most iconic villains of the franchise), and it ended with one man coming out on top but with a heavy price for both.

For six seasons, "Cobra Kai" brought '80s nostalgia and absurd karate action to YouTube and then to Netflix, only to come to a climactic conclusion earlier this year with the end of "Cobra Kai" season 6. Netflix built up to the proper finale with plenty of fanfare, giving each character a proper send-off (some more explosive than others), and wrapping things up with a series of one-on-one world championship duels for the key characters.
It's rare in the streaming era that shows get to go out so decisively on their own terms, and yet, the show's popularity means that many fans are still hoping there could be a chance for "Cobra Kai" season 7. Is there really, though? Well, probably not -- at least, not under that name. Cobra Kai's trio of showrunners, producers, writers, and directors, Josh Heald, Jon Hurwitz, and Hayden Schlossberg, have been thinking about their series finale for years. That's a wrap on Cobra Kai, but the spirit and characters of the franchise — which date back to Ralph Macchio's iconic 1984 film, of course — will live on. First, there's the highly anticipated film Karate Kid: Legends, hitting the masses on May 30. Plus, there's talk of a spinoff series featuring a couple of the teens from Cobra Kai. Maybe one of your favorites from the ragtag bunch was Eli Moskowitz, otherwise known as "Hawk" due to his trademark mohawks that immediately stole whichever scene his character occupied. Hawk was played with style, ferocity, and pizzazz by rising star Jacob Bertrand, and MovieWeb recently caught up with him to see if he'd ever welcome the opportunity to further pursue his beloved character in a future project.

[This story contains spoilers from the series finale of Cobra Kai.]
For the the audience of Cobra Kai, and fans of the original Karate Kid films, the trauma, drama and action surrounding the beloved main characters have kept viewers hooked on the Netflix series for six seasons. But for the show’s creators — Josh Heald, Jon Hurwitz and Hayden Schlossberg — everything had an order to follow in order to reach the series finale’s inevitable conclusion, providing redemption along the way. The Hollywood Reporter recently caught up with the trio of Heald, Hurwitz and Schlossberg to talk about how endings are made, the climatic scene where two infamous villains take their final bow, what it was like to bring back Mr. Miyagi, their meta cameos and that Back to the Future pitch, and whether or not Johnny Lawrence (William Zabka) and Daniel Larusso (Ralph Macchio) will find a new understanding and possible life-long friendship beyond the final episode of the series.

Hayden Schlossberg, co-creator of Cobra Kai, recently shared his personal ranking of the top five teen fighters in the series.
In a social media post, he responded to a fan’s question about the best fighters, revealing his list, which includes Miguel (Xolo Maridueña), Axel (Patrick Luwis), Kwon (Brandon H. Lee), Robby (Tanner Buchanan), and Hawk (Jacob Bertrand). Diego (Justin Ortiz) also got a special mention.

Cobra Kai’s showrunner Jon Hurwitz has addressed the cameo, or lack thereof, of Hilary Swank's character in the series finale. Swank played Julie Pierce in The Next Karate Kid, the fourth movie in the Karate Kid franchise and Pat Morita's last appearance as Mr. Miyagi. The film's reception was not good, and it ended up burying the franchise until the 2010 reboot. Although the showrunners and writers found a way to bring back almost every single character, even those played by late actors, Swank was one of the biggest legacy characters who wasn't present in the show. And we finally know the reason why.

Spoilers for "Cobra Kai" Season 6 Part 3 to follow.
Prior to "Cobra Kai" tapping out with its final season, one of the show's creators, Hayden Schlossberg, admitted to The Hollywood Reporter that he and his fellow creatives were exploring the idea of a spinoff series that reveals the untold history of legendary "Karate Kid" sensei Mr. Miyagi (Pat Morita). While nothing is set in stone just yet, it certainly seems like the gears are turning to ensure that the world of "Cobra Kai" strikes back in the future with a brand-new tale or two. The most important question to consider, however, is exactly which "Cobra Kai" characters deserve to be revisited down the line.
Mind you, every risky new venture comes with the opportunity to not only shift the tone but also move the larger franchise in a different direction. Just look at how "The Karate Kid" changed course with "Cobra Kai,...

Cobra Kaistar William Zabkahas revealed some very interesting details about the original series pitch. Initially, the project's scope was not as big as it ended up being, and it focused almost completely on Johnny Lawrence (Zabka). It was a "redemption arc" and not much else. Luckily, Zabka asked the right questions to ensure things changed: "Well, you can't just go do a Karate Kid movie and not make sure that everybody's on board."

With Season 6 of the popular Karate Kid-based drama Cobra Kai closing out, series co-creator Hayden Schlossberg has taken to X to explain the divisive ending of one of the series' characters.
Cobra Kai's final season has finally arrived, and with it, several character arcs had to be closed out. Scholssenberg, during a QnA on X, was asked by a fan if he was happy with the ending for Samantha "Sam" Larusso (played by Mary Mouser), the daughter of the original karate kid, Daniel Larusso (Ralph Macchio). As we conclude the final season of Cobra Kai, it is incredible to realize that we have seen everything we wanted and more. The Johnny Lawrence redemption story was the crowning achievement and was masterfully done as well.

You know what Cobra Kai nailed? Knowing when not to mess with a legend. They wisely left Mr. Miyagi’s dark past alone – yeah, we knew he had heartbreak and tragedy, but they kept him on that pedestal of wisdom and honor. Now, with Karate Kid: Legends bringing Jackie Chan back, I can’t help but wonder: are we finally going to dive into a mentor’s untold struggles?

Imagine a Miyagi-like figure, but with a grittier backstory, maybe even secrets that flip the whole story on its head. And if anyone can pull that off, it’s Jackie Chan, for sure.

Cobra Kai co-creator Hayden Schlossberg has addressed one of the mysteries left unsolved after the Netflix series' ending. With the series finale, viewers expected Mr. Miyagi's (the late Pat Morita) dark past to be expanded and explained in more detail, but this didn't happen. Instead, we saw the legacy character return in a dream sequence that didn't do much to answer the questions about Miyagi's participation in a karate match where his opponent died. Instead, it was a nostalgia-based scene that apparently helped Daniel Larusso (Ralph Macchio) change his mind about his daughter's refusal to fight.
Schlossberg participated in a Q&a session on X/Twitter with Cobra Kai fans in order to answer a few questions about the Karate Kid spin-off that ended its six-season run a few days ago. The showrunner was kind enough to shed light on fan theories, spin-offs (an Iron Dragon series sounds awesome), and how some storylines concluded.

"Cobra Kai" season 6 uses AI to resurrect Mr. Miyagi, which was a controversial creative decision due to the fact actor Pat Morita passed away in 2005. It's especially noticeable when he shows up to help his Daniel Larusso (Ralph Macchio) defeat a group of skeletons and offer one last nugget of wisdom during a dream sequence. Some viewers will view it as a full-circle moment for the pair's relationship, while others will argue that it's yet another example of the Uncanny Valley haunting our entertainment.

Great Scott! The creators behind Cobra Kai have addressed the intriguing tease at the end of the show. Last week, Netflix released all the final Cobra Kai episodes, ending the Karate Kid spin-off's six-season run. If you stayed with Johnny and Daniel until the very end, when Johnny taught Daniel that chopsticks are not always necessary for catching flies, then you were probably confused by what happened just before that. Spoiler Alert !!!Spoilers ahead for Cobra Kai season 6
Johnny Lawrence’s destiny as a redeemed hero came to its conclusion this week as Cobra Kai ended its six-season run. The Netflix series saw Johnny Lawrence face off against sensei Wolf at the Sekai Taikai tournament on a stage that was all too familiar to The Karate Kid star and finally reached his full potential.
However, the most shocking moment in the series is the death of series antagonist John Kreese, who himself has a moment of redemption by blowing up a yacht where he and Silver are. While the visual of the explosion gives no potential for survival, the makers of the series were reportedly still optimistic about Kreese and filmed a now-deleted scene.
