They have set their first project under the new deal – a drama set in Barneys New York.

Exclusive: Ella Rubin and Amélie Hoeferle have been tapped as the co-leads of Amazon MGM Studios’ Sterling Point, a YA drama series from My Old Ass writer-director Megan Park, LuckyChap and Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage’s Fake Empire.

Sterling Point was created by Park who will also direct and executive producer. Plot details are being kept under wraps but the series is being described as an ensemble drama with comedy and heart about sisterhood, nature vs nurture, complicated family dynamics and grief. I know, I know, I was skeptical at first when Deadline broke the news, but the more and more I heard about the show, the more I realized this was the iteration of a reboot/revival that we deserve and need. Not only are the creators of Gossip Girl, Josh Schwartz (who also created The O.C.) and Stephanie Savage on board, but Clueless star Alicia Silverstone will be back to reprise her role as Cher Horowitz!

Alicia Silverstone‘s Cher Horowitz will return, albeit to TV. Variety reports that a sequel series to 1995’s “Clueless” is in the works over at Peacock. Note for fans of the original film: this is not the same follow-up series announced in 2020, or the short-lived sitcom based on the movie that ran from 1996-1999, neither of which involved Silverstone.

Today's news has got fans of Amy Heckerling's coming-of-age masterpiece "Clueless" waffling between totally freaking and totally bugging, because according to Variety, the Peacock streaming service is currently developing a sequel series with star Alicia Silverstone set to reprise her role as Cher Horowitz. 

If this sounds like old news, it's because you're probably thinking of a different Peacock "Clueless" series that was announced back in 2020 and slated to star Stacey Dash, reviving her role as Cher's ride-or-die bestie Dionne. Well, that series is no longer happening, and this series currently has Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage attached to write, along with Jordan Weiss. The trio will executive produce alongside Silverstone, and they'll be joined by the original film's producer, Robert Lawrence, and writer/director Heckerling as executive producers as well.

Per Deadline, a Clueless follow-up TV series is in the works at Peacock and – as if! – Alicia Silverstone is totally on board to return as Cher Horowitz, a role she originated in the 1995 film that started it all. In addition to the legacy pedigree in front of the camera, the writing team is no stranger to crafting material adored by generations of teens.

Alicia Silverstone will reprise her iconic “Clueless” role of Cher Horowitz for a TV series based on the classic 1990s film, TheWrap has learned. She is also attached to executive produce the follow-up, along with Amy Heckerling, who directed and wrote the 1995 comedy, and producer Robert Lawrence.

It’s being developed by CBS Studios in association with Universal Television, a division of Universal Studio Group, for Peacock.

Writers and executive producers on the series are Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage through their Fake Empire banner. They previously teamed on “The O.C.” and “Gossip Girl.”

Jordan Weiss, who created the Kat Dennings Hulu series “Dollface” and scripted upcoming Disney sequel “Freakier Friday,” will also serve as writer and EP. Deadline reports that the series is in the early development stage and is being written and executive produced by Gossip Girl duo Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage along with Dollface creator Jordan Weiss.

Get a clue! Peacock is developing a sequel series based on the ’90s favorite “Clueless,” and Alicia Silverstone is attached to star in the series reprising her role as Cher Horowitz, IndieWire has learned.

The Peacock show is described only as a follow-up sequel show to the 1995 cult favorite film from director and writer Amy Heckerling (who will EP the series), and while there have been some rumors about the exact focus of the show floating around, creative details are being kept under wraps for now. The series is currently in development for the streamer.

Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage of “Gossip Girl” and “Nancy Drew” fame will write the series alongside “Freakier Friday” scribe Jordan Weiss, and all three will executive produce the series. Schwartz and Savage are producing through their banner Fake Empire.

Silverstone is also executive producing the series, as is Heckerling and the film’s original producer Robert Lawrence.

The current iteration of Clueless is not related to another take on the story that Peacock began developing in 2020 — and scuttled nine months later. That show had a mystery-fueled plot that centered on Cher disappearing and her best friend Dionne (played by Stacey Dash in the movie) investigating what happened.

With recent news that Clueless would be celebrating its 30th anniversary with a 4K Uhd SteelBook release, fans of the iconic 90s movie were feeling a bit old. To be fair, a revamped version of the movie bursting at the seams with extras was a very good consolation prize, but Alicia Silverstone and Peacock are doing us even better. Today, word broke that a Clueless series is in the works with Silverstone set to reprise her role as the one and only Cher Horowitz. In addition to reprising her career-starting role, Silverstone will also executive produce the project alongside the original film’s writer and director, Amy Heckerling, and producer, Robert Lawrence. Adding that extra bit of edge to the follow-up chapter will fall into the hands of Gossip Girl’s Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage, who will pen the series and also add their names as executive producers.

Trachtenberg Stole Every Scene She Was In

Her mother found her unresponsive and unconscious in her New York City residence on the morning of Wednesday, February 26. She was pronounced dead by emergency medical workers. Trachtenberg never publicly revealed any health issues.

According to a source, Trachtenberg recently underwent a liver transplant and “may have been experiencing complications” after the surgery. The actress was born in New York City on October 11, 1985.

Trachtenberg became a child actress and landed parts in commercials first until her big break on All My Children at age eight. She played on the soap from 1993 to 1996.

Her character, Lily, was the autistic daughter of Laurel Bannon and was adopted by her stepfather, Jackson Montgomery. While playing Lily, she also played on the Nickelodeon sitcom The Adventures of Pete & Pete.

Michelle Trachtenberg's death came as a shock to everyone. The actress, who passed away at the age of 39, had played a series of hit roles, including in fan-favorite series Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Gossip Girl.

So far, Trachtenberg's cause of death is not public, although police are not believing there is anything suspicious and an autopsy will reveal what happened. The actress reportedly underwent a liver transplant recently. Amid the worldwide tributes from fans and fellow actors, Gossip Girl star Blake Lively made her return to social media to share her experience working with the actress on her Instagram Stories.

Megan Park has found her next big project after the success of her coming-of-age film My Old Ass, and it involves some familiar faces. The writer-director will be reuniting with Margot Robbie's LuckyChap Entertainment banner for the new YA drama Sterling Point, which just received a series order at Prime Video. She'll wear a lot of hats on the show as the creator, director, and executive producer, while also co-showrunning with help from two genre stalwarts in Gossip Girl and Runaways duo Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage. It's set to be produced under LuckyChap's first-look television deal with Amazon MGM Studios — who also acquired My Old Ass out of Sundance last year.

Prime Video is adding to its roster of young adult series.

The Amazon-owned streamer has placed a series order for a drama called Sterling Point, created by My Old Ass writer-director Megan Park. The project is the first series for Park, who earned Writers Guild and Directors Guild award nominations for My Old Ass.

Plot details about Sterling Point are being kept quiet for now. Park will direct and serve as co-showrunner with YA veterans Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage (The O.C., Gossip Girl). Amazon MGM Studios is producing the series with LuckyChap; the latter produced My Old Ass, which was a breakout at Sundance in 2024, where Amazon MGM acquired it for distribution.

“My Old Ass” writer and director Megan Park has landed a series order at Amazon Prime Video for the drama “Sterling Point,” Variety has learned exclusively.

Exact plot details are being kept under wraps, but “Sterling Point” is described as a YA drama. Park is the creator of the series and will also direct, executive produce, and serve as co-showrunner.
