The contracts would include requesting productions put sustainable practices in place
Over 100 high-profile actors, including Mark Rylance, Hayley Atwell, David Harewood and Bill Nighy, have signed their support for Equity’s ‘Green Rider’ plan, which aims to boost sustainability in UK film and TV production.
The proposed Green Rider can be added to actors’ contracts in order to state their own sustainability commitments, and to negotiate bolder sustainability standards on set before accepting a job.

Reverend Al Green is back with his first new single in five years, a cover of Lou Reed’s “Perfect Day.” Stream it below.
Green reunited with members of the Hi Rhythm Section at Memphis’ Sam Phillips Recording studio in February to record his version of “Perfect Day,” which also features background vocals from UK alt-r&b artist Raye. His distinct vocals soar over swelling strings and a rich organ, imbuing the track with a healthy dose of soul. “I loved Lou’s original ‘Perfect Day,’” Green said in a statement. “The song immediately puts you in a good mood. We wanted to preserve that spirit, while adding our own sauce and style.”
Along with the single, Green has announced new shows in Detroit, Michigan on November 24th and St. Charles, Missouri on November 25th. Tickets go on sale Friday, August 25th at 10:00 a.m. local time via Ticketmaster.

This Blue Beetle article contains spoilers.
James Gunn and Peter Safran have taken the reins of the new DC Universe of movies and TV series, the new cinematic univese born from the ashes of the Dceu that began with 2013’s Man of Steel. Interestingly, the new Dcu will also kick off with the Last Son of Krypton, this time in Gunn’s upcoming Superman: Legacy, starring David Corenswet and Rachel Brosnahan. But although Superman: Legacy is set to be the Dcu’s first official installment, Xolo Maridueña’s Blue Beetle has been confirmed to be the “first” Dcu character.
Ángel Manuel Soto’s Blue Beetle comes in the wake of The Flash’s box office disappointment, and according to the first reviews, it’s a movie with real heart. The end of Blue Beetle neatly sets up Jaime Reyes for a sequel, but beyond that, the movie also secretly teases...

In the last installment The Challenge, the MTV players were ganged up on and forced to go head-to-head. This week, one legend of the game turns on his own, leading to explosive drama, and one hot and bothered Banana.
Following Jonna’s exit (read our Episode 2 recap), it takes Tori and Amanda about two-and-a-half seconds to start going at it. Tori says she was hoping they could’ve worked together since there aren’t many MTV players around, but Amanda starts yelling that they’re not friends and will never be friends. Sigh. “This is the worst disaster that Maui has ever faced, probably that Hawaii has ever faced,” says Maui native Kainoa Horcajo, a Hawaiian cultural advisor and the co-owner of consultancy The Mo’olelo Group. With the death toll reaching 111, and 1,000 people still unaccounted for amid the devastation and destruction, the Maui disaster is officially the deadliest wildfire in the U.S. since 1918. “Businesses come second. The people and the families are first,” says Horcajo. “We know a lot of people want to come out here. But we need to focus our resources on taking care of our local families, on making sure that our visitor industries, our hotels have the ability to help in the community. That we’re all working together.”

James Bond is dead. Daniel Craig's version, that is. Buried beneath a hail of ballistics at the end of 2021's "No Time To Die," Craig's 007 was the first in the franchise's more than 60-year run to ever die on-screen (and not the fakeout "You Only Live Twice" kind). If you'd merely heard about, rather than witnessed, such an unprecedented and momentous moment in Bond history, you might think Craig's tenure in the tux was the finest the saga had ever seen, fully justifying longtime Bond producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson in their decision to have England's greatest spy Kia. But you'd be wrong.
The prevailing view of the Craig era goes like this: 2006's "Casino Royale" is one of, if not the best Bond movie ever made, but its follow-up, 2008's "Quantum of Solace" was a historic blunder that nearly derailed the whole enterprise just as it was getting started.

Seth Rogen has been a steady presence on the big and small screen for over two decades and is entering a hit franchise with the upcoming Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie, but he has yet to cross over into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, something he says is intentional and comes out of fear.
Speaking with Polygon, Seth Rogen said he has shied away from working with Marvel due to his own process and the structure already in place. “We really have a pretty specific way we work; me and Evan have been writers for 20 years at this point. It’s a fear of the process, honestly. And I say that knowing nothing about the process. There are a lot of Marvel things I love. Update: After Stephen Amell drew controversy for saying “I do not support striking” amid the ongoing SAG-AFTRA strike, the “Heels” actor clarified his comments in an Instagram post.
Amell affirmed that his support for the actors union is “unconditional” but added, “Of course I don’t like striking. Nobody does. But we have to do what we have to do.” And addressing his prior remarks about striking being “frustrating” and a “reductive negotiating tactic,” Amell wrote, “I’m an actor and I was speaking extemporaneously for over an hour. I emote, but I certainly don’t think these issues are simple. Our leadership has an incredibly complicated job and I am grateful for all that they do. Despite some of my terrible early acting work, I assure you, I’m not a robot. From an intellectual perspective, I understand why we are striking, but that doesn’t mean it...

For this month’s installment of “TV Terrors” we revisit the horror-comedy sitcom “Holliston,” which aired for two seasons on the now-defunct FEARnet in 2012 and 2013.
Adam Green and Joe Lynch are two filmmakers and genuine horror fans who have given their fellow horror fans so much over the years, including some great movies like Mayhem, the Hatchet franchise, and Frozen, as well as the upcoming Suitable Flesh. Among their many contributions to the genre was their horror sitcom, “Holliston.”
The best way to describe the series for the uninitiated would be if “Spaced” had a head on collision with “Friends” and was re-attached into a weird, funny monster. Originally premiering as the first original series on the now defunct FEARnet in 2012, “Holliston” is set in the small town of Holliston, Massachusetts, and stars Adam Green as “Adam” and Joe Lynch as “Joe.” Both stars play fictional versions of themselves that are best friends and roommates.

Los Angeles, July 26 (Ians) ‘The Exorcist’ from 1973 is a horror icon and one of the greatest horror movies ever made. While the movie had a bunch of sequels and spin-offs, none of them really managed to up the original. That may just change with the new trailer for ‘The Exorcist: Believer’ looking deliciously spooky, and a delightfully tempting nightmare fuel.
‘Believer’ is set in the same continuity as the original and the trailer tells the story of how a widower Victor Fielding (Leslie Odom Jr.) struggles to save the life of his young daughter Angela (Lidya Jewett) after she and her friend Katherine (Olivia Marcum) vanish suddenly one day only to reappear days later seemingly possessed by demonic entities in a bit of ‘Evil Dead’ style, though not packing its morbid and dark humour.

Following in the footsteps of one of the greatest horror movies of all time is no easy task, but David Gordon Green is ready to give it a shot (again) with The Exorcist: Believer. While speaking with The Wrap, Green discussed the upcoming Exorcist sequel and how he plans to give the franchise a fresh take by exploring “multiple spiritual perspectives.“
“I couldn’t wrap my head around a one-philosophy type of ‘Exorcist’ movie,” David Gordon Green said. After reading about how different religions tackle the idea of possession, he came across the idea of synchronized possession. “My mind was blown and I started making phone calls and started talking to the quote, unquote experts because it’s a very unique subject matter and people have experienced things or claimed to have experienced things,” Green said. “And I just wanted to invite all these voices and stories and theories into my creative whirlpool.

Universal Pictures and Blumhouse Productions’ first trailer for The Exorcist: Believer is the stuff of nightmares. 1973’s The Exorcist stands as the scariest horror film in history, and the trailer appears to confirm Believer is a worthy addition to the franchise. Ellen Burstyn reprising her role as Chris – and the inclusion of “Tubular Bells” – signals a legitimate return to the world William Peter Blatty created in his 1971 bestselling novel.
In addition to Oscar winner Ellen Burstyn, The Exorcist: Believer stars Tony winner and Oscar nominee Leslie Odom, Jr., Lidya Jewett, Olivia Marcum, Emmy winner Ann Dowd, Grammy winner Jennifer Nettles, and two-time Tony winner Norbert Leo Butz.
The Exorcist, with an $11 million budget, grossed $441 million during its theatrical run. Directed by William Friedkin, the R-rated horror film earned 10 Oscar nominations and won two – Best Adapted Screenplay and Sound. Exorcist II: The Heretic followed in 1977 with Linda Blair reprising her role as Regan MacNeil.

David Gordon Green, Universal, and Blumhouse previously teamed up to bring us a new "Halloween" trilogy with "Halloween," "Halloween Kills," and "Halloween Ends." Now they're trying it again with a different horror franchise — "The Exorcist." The first film in this new trilogy is "The Exorcist: Believer," which brings back Ellen Burstyn as Chris MacNeil, a person who knows a thing or two about exorcisms.
The trailer for "The Exorcist: Believer" dropped online today, and it looks ... okay. I like Green's "Halloween" trilogy, so I'm curious to see what he does here. And I like the idea of not one but two possessed kids to deal with. But it remains to be seen how this will turn out — and if it'll even warrant a trilogy. Whether or not it warrants one is moot, I suppose, since the trilogy is happening. And the second film already has a title and a release date.

Close on the heels of the internet release of the trailer for The Exorcist: Believer, which is set to reach theatres on October 13th, Universal Pictures has gone ahead announced (via The Hollywood Reporter) that they’ll be giving the next Exorcist sequel, which will be titled The Exorcist: Deceiver, an Easter 2025 theatrical release. The specific release date they’ve chosen is April 18, 2025. So if you really like Believer, you’ll only have to wait eighteen months to see the next chapter in this planned trilogy.
Blumhouse Productions, Morgan Creek Entertainment, and director David Gordon Green are teaming up to make this new trilogy of The Exorcist sequels for Universal and Peacock, starting with The Exorcist: Believer. Universal and Blumhouse have today unveiled the first trailer for The Exorcist: Believer — the first film in a new trilogy following up the 1973 horror classic, The Exorcist — at the same time setting an April 18, 2025 nationwide release for follow-up film The Exorcist: Deceiver.
While Deceiver currently sits alone in its opening weekend slot, Believer will open on October 13th of this year opposite the drama Ordinary Angels from Lionsgate and Kingdom Story Company, which stars Hilary Swank and Alan Ritchson.

Blumhouse scored huge box office numbers when David Gordon Green took on a new sequel to the “Halloween” franchise back in 2018. That resulted in three hit films (though critics haven’t been too kind to at least two of those movies). Now, Blumhouse is hoping Green can do it again, but this time, he’s tackling “The Exorcist” franchise.

Fifty years after William Friedkin’s landmark horror film “The Exorcist” terrorized audiences, a new installment has arrived. Ellen Burstyn returns as Chris MacNeil for “The Exorcist: Believer,” a follow-up helmed by David Gordon Green, who recently revived the “Halloween” franchise.
A sequel, “The Exorcist: Deceiver,” will hit in theaters on April 18, 2025, Universal announced Tuesday, along with releasing the trailer for “Believer.” They are the first two entries in a planned “Exorcist” trilogy.
“The Exorcist: Believer” features not one, but two demonic girls who become possessed after being saved from a supposed kidnapping. Burstyn’s MacNeil turns up at the doorsteps of their homes with a helping hand, having once had a possessed daughter of her own. Still, it’s uncertain whether the woman can truly save the two girls — covered in bloody Satanic markings and devouring pages of the Bible in the new footage.
Here’s the official logline:...

David Gordon Green's "Halloween" trilogy proved to be one of the wildest swings to emerge from our current era of legacy sequels and revivals, sporting questionable lines of dialogue ("Evil dies tonight!") and a narratively suspect yet fascinating finale. In light of this, it's hard not to be intrigued (if also apprehensive) as to what the filmmaker has cooked up with his latest sequel to a landmark work of horror -- "The Exorcist: Believer."
Much like Green and producer Jason Blum's "Halloween" movies, "Believer" hopes to rejuvenate a flailing horror franchise that has gone in some rather bizarre directions since the '70s classic that started it all. The only difference? This time, Green isn't wiping the slate clean by removing the previous installments from the canon, the sequels and prequel (prequels?) alike. "I like all the 'Exorcist' movies," Green told Total Film in May 2022, adding...

Unsurprisingly, Universal and Blumhouse’s “The Exorcist: Believer” — a brand new horror chapter in the beloved franchise that hits theaters on Oct. 13, 2023 (you can watch the first trailer above) — started with Max von Sydow.
Co-writer/director David Gordon Green had already started thinking about tackling a new take on “The Exorcist” but after von Sydow, who co-starred in both “The Exorcist” and its deeply insane sequel “The Exorcist II: The Heretic,” died, Green started a deep dive. It wasn’t just his Ingmar Bergman collaboration either but “his spectacular body of work.”
“I wasn’t really thinking about what I’m going to do with this film yet,” Green told TheWrap. “I was just thinking more about the intimidating landscape of being a part of that franchise. I wasn’t settled into a theme. But in watching some of those films, they tap, in a beautiful way, into the infinite spiritual realms,...

When SAG-AFTRA joined the WGA in striking against the Alliance of Motion Pictures and Television Producers, there was immediate action. The cast of summer blockbuster Oppenheimer immediately left their screening, SAG president Fran Drescher delivered a fervid speech blaming the AMPTP for Hollywood’s halt, and SAG was quick to release a notice spelling out exactly what actions were banned — like filming, acting, or even sending in audition tapes to a struck company. We have good news and bad news for fans of PBS’s Grantchester. The good news is that the British mystery drama has been renewed for a ninth season. The bad news is that the upcoming season will be the last for Tom Brittney, who has played crime-solving vicar Will Davenport since season 4.
‘Grantchester’ renewed for season 9
It’s only been a few weeks since Grantchester Season 8 premiered on PBS, but the show’s cast is already looking ahead to season 9. Filming recently began on the upcoming episodes, which will be Tom Brittney’s last. The actor – who took over as vicar after James Norton left the show in 2019 – has decided to move on.
“I’ve had the most incredible time playing Will Davenport for the last five years,” Brittney told PBS. “I got to solve crimes with my best friend, and work with the best cast and crew I could ever ask for.

Blumhouse Productions, Morgan Creek Entertainment, and director David Gordon Green are teaming up to make a new trilogy of The Exorcist sequels for Universal and Peacock, starting with The Exorcist: Believer – which is scheduled to reach theatres on October 13th. Yesterday, Universal unveiled a trio of posters for the film, and now it has come to our attention that the trailer for The Exorcist: Believer is attached to this weekend’s Universal release, Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer! (Read our Oppenheimer review Here.)

This week has been a big one for The Exorcist, with Universal launching a series of three posters for new sequel The Exorcist: Believer just yesterday. And that was the appetizer for the main course, with the official trailer for The Exorcist: Believer now playing in theaters.
The trailer for The Exorcist: Believer, like many recent Blumhouse movies, is a Theater Exclusive for now, and you’ll find it attached to Oppenheimer on the big screen this weekend.
We expect the trailer will be finding its way online soon, but for now the only way you’ll be able to get a first look sneak peek at the movie is, well, by going to the movies this weekend.
If you’ve seen the trailer for The Exorcist: Believer, we’d love to talk about it. Share your thoughts in the comments section below, which we’ll be checking throughout the weekend.

The Halloween (2018) episode of Wtf Happened to This Horror Movie? was Written and Narrated by Jason Hewlett, Edited by Jaime Vasquez, Produced by Lance Vlcek and John Fallon, and Executive Produced by Berge Garabedian.
When it comes to horror franchises the Halloween series is a bit like Chewbacca; it doesn’t make a lot of sense narratively unless you really understand what is going on. That’s right, you just heard a Star Wars reference in a video about a Halloween movie. Just roll with it… Technically the Halloween films are four different stories and one one-off tale told over the course of thirteen films, if my math is right away. Only one of these narrative shifts seems to have been done for creative reasons while the rest were undertaken in an effort to continue the series and make more money from the Halloween brand. If this sounds cynical to you,...

Alright horror fans… Universal and Blumhouse released on Thursday three brand new posters for their upcoming movie The Exorcist: Believer.
Looking very much like Regan from the original movie, the sequel will hit theaters on October 13. The 1973 film (directed by William Friedkin and written by William Peter Blatty) is about a 12-year-old girl who is possessed by a mysterious demonic entity, forcing her mother to seek the help of two priests to save her.
The Exorcist won two Oscars for Best Writing, Screenplay Based on Material from Another Medium – William Peter Blatty and Best Sound – Christopher Newman, Robert Knudson. It went onto have a worldwide box office gross of $441,306,145 (Box Office Mojo) with only a $11 million budget. It starred Ellen Burstyn, Max von Sydow, Jason Miller, and Linda Blair.

Match #1: Gunther def. Matt Riddle The following is courtesy of wwe.com:
With the rest of his Imperium teammates barred from ringside, Intercontinental Champion Gunther took on Matt Riddle in a non-title match. Gunther and Riddle traded submission attempts to start the match, with Gunther applying a sleeper hold followed by a triangle hold attempt by Riddle. Riddle’s early momentum was derailed by a huge chop from The Ring General, followed by a body slam onto the mat outside of the ring. As Gunther beat down Riddle, The Original Bro withstood the punishment, attempting to get the victory after a ripcord knee. Gunther did not need Ludwig Kaiser and Giovanni Vinci with him, defeating The Original Bro a huge Powerbomb.

Old Trafford (Manchester), July 18 (Ians) Fast-bowling all-rounder Cameron Green and pace Josh Hazlewood made their return as Australia announced their Playing XI for the fourth match of the ongoing Ashes 2023 series, with visitors to go into a Test without a specialist spinner for the first time in over a decade.
Scott Boland and Todd Murphy make way for Green and Hazlewood from the side that lost by three wickets at Headingley.
Fit-again Green, who missed the Leeds Test with a hamstring injury, has been listed to bat at seven, behind Mitch Marsh at No.6, with wicketkeeper Alex Carey to come in at No.8 as the Aussies rejigged the balance of their side to squeeze in their two all-rounders.
Marsh struck a blazing century in Leeds to guarantee his spot, leaving Murphy as the fall guy with Green coming back into the side to give captain Pat Cummins five pace bowling options.

Manchester, July 18 (Ians) Australia captain Pat Cummins expects David Warner will play in the fourth Test at Old Trafford as the visitors are aiming for a victory that would secure the Ashes and prevent the series from going to a decider.
Warner has made 141 runs from six hits this Ashes series and his place at the top of Australia’s batting order has come under scrutiny after his twin failures in Headingley Test, falling victim to Ashes nemesis Stuart Broad in both innings for 4 and 1.
“I think Warner has been going really well. I thought at Lord’s, he was really impressive. Last week, like many of us, he probably didn’t contribute as much as he would have liked with the bat,” Cummins said.
“He’s been out there over the last couple of days putting in a lot of work, but I think this tour he has shown...

Director Steven Soderbergh has never really been a fan of orthodoxy, and his idiosyncratic approach to his own work was on full display Sunday night when he launched his latest project, sci-fi series Command Z, at the Metrograph in New York. The Michael Cera-starring dystopian narrative, inspired by Kurt Andersen’s book Evil Geniuses: The Unmaking of America: A Recent History, was shown as part of a “secret screening” for members of the downtown theater.
Soderbergh followed the screening with a Q&a with Florida Representative Maxwell Frost, the first Gen Z congressman, explaining to the audience, “I don’t really want to talk about the show,” and instead quizzing Frost about how he stays hopeful. “How do we convince people to not give up?” Soderbergh asked Frost, who in turn discussed his path to politics and his work organizing.

Welcome to this review of this past Monday’s episode of WWE Raw, right here on Nerdly… Let’s see what went down on this week’s show!
Match #1: Damian Priest def. Shinsuke Nakamura The following is courtesy of wwe.com:
Competing in first match as Mr. Money in the Bank, Damian Priest took on fellow Money in the Bank competitor Shinsuke Nakamura. The action spilled to the outside as Priest dumped Nakamura onto the barricade. Conspicuous by his absence was Finn Bálor as the rest of The Judgment Day were at ringside. Nakamura locked in an armbar to try to submit Priest. As Nakamura went for the Kinshasa, Priest evaded, hitting a gnarly clothesline followed by South of Heaven to lock up his first win as Mr. Money in the Bank.
My Score: 3 out of 5 Match #2: Women’s Tag Team Titles No. 1 Contenders’ Gauntlet Match – Winners: Chelsea Green...

YouTube star Grace Helbig revealed in an emotional video that she has been diagnosed with breast cancer.
The 37-year-old personality shared in the eight-minute video, posted on her YouTube and Instagram pages, that she received the diagnosis — triple-positive breast cancer — “about a month ago.” She called the news “shocking” and “surreal.”
“It doesn’t sound real, but it’s real,” said Helbig, who has more than 2.6 million subscribers to her YouTube channel. “I’ve had a decent amount of time to process and start the process, so I’m finally ready to share with you.”
She went on to say her breast cancer is “super treatable” and “highly beatable,” citing her doctors and experts familiar with the diagnosis. “We’re going for cure, not remission here, which is exciting, encouraging, helpful, good,” Helbig continued, adding that her doctors believe it is stage 2A but cautioned they “are not entirely sure just yet.

Popular YouTube content creator Grace Helbig announced that she has breast cancer in a video on Monday. In her video, she said she received the cancer diagnosis about a month ago.
Helbig said she was diagnosed with triple-positive breast cancer, which she called “super treatable and highly beatable.” She was diagnosed after noticing a small lump on her breast. She said in her video that she was unsure how to bring it up to her doctor because she was afraid of looking uneducated about her own body. But now, she urges everyone to go get checked.
“Get those lumps checked,” she said. “And don’t be afraid to ask the doctor what you think might be a stupid question.”
In addition to her YouTube channel, the 37-year-old internet personality and comedian co-hosts and co-created the podcast “This Might Get Weird” alongside Mamrie Hart. In 2015, Helbig hosted her own comedy talk show on E!
